Chapter 1510: Chapter 1071: Both Painful and Joyful

"This thing... why does it look a bit like Little Ghost’s Divine Shell?" Negris remarked in astonishment as he gazed at the iron sphere hanging in the center.

The core of Little Ghost was the Divine Aspect of Light, housed within the internal Divine Shell of the Holy Kingdom. The Divine Shell was not only a vessel for the Divine Aspect but also a kind of prohibition, locking the divine essence tightly within the shell.

Of course, that was all in the past. Within the Divine Shell, Ange and the God of Arbitration engaged in a bizarre divine battle. In the end, everything of the God of Arbitration was erased. The uncontrollable Divine Aspect of Light was gradually devoured and transformed by Little Ghost, who ultimately replaced it.

Now, for Little Ghost, the Divine Shell was merely a vessel. During its journey of breaking through the Boundless Space Hole, its power had already fused entirely with the Holy Kingdom.

But the object before him, similar to a Divine Shell, hung suspended in mid-air, and unceasing roars echoed from within. Clearly, it was not a vessel but something more akin to a prohibition.

The two iron chains suspending the sphere continuously transmitted energy, which was evidently being used to power the entire array, much like the Holy Kingdom. No wonder Negris remarked that it bore such a resemblance to the Divine Shell.

Ange nodded in agreement, raising his finger and waving it lightly.

Little Ghost emerged, gazing at him in confusion.

"What you just ate—spit it back out," Ange instructed.

Little Ghost spat out a mass of consciousness.

Ma Wa Ni stood trembling before Ange, its entire consciousness quaking with fear. It had never realized how powerless it was until now. Someone had subdued it with a single move, and even the opponent’s pet could swallow it whole with no room for resistance.

During the time it was devoured by Little Ghost, it felt all of its strength draining away rapidly. In the end, all its power was stripped away, leaving only its solitary consciousness.

Even so, Little Ghost had left it with a shell. Though it had lost all its strength and physical body, its consciousness could still exist independently.

What kind of power was this? Ma Wa Ni couldn’t fathom it—it was beyond its understanding. It couldn’t even comprehend how its opponent had managed it, let alone how it had been devoured in the first place.

Its body stretched across an entire plane; how had the opponent precisely captured its consciousness and swallowed it in one bite?

The more it thought, the less it understood. The less it understood, the more terrified it became, until it was reduced to trembling in fear.

But Ange did not press it further. Instead, he pointed to the iron sphere below and asked, "What is that?"

"The... the Plane Consciousness, Kram," Ma Wa Ni replied obediently.

After getting his answer, Ange turned to Anthony, who understood immediately and asked, "What are you?"

"I... I am Silent Magic Vine, Ma Wa Ni," came the response.

"Silent Magic Vine? What is that? Plant or animal? How do you usually gather energy?" Negris interjected with a question of his own.

Ma Wa Ni hesitated before answering, "I am a Void Creature, and I draw energy from silence and emptiness. Occasionally, I eat things as well."

Silence? What kind of energy could silence produce? Eating things?

"What kind of things?" Negris pursued.

"Things discarded by humans, like the most nutritious peels, seeds, branches from plants, and the most nutritious bones from animals," Ma Wa Ni explained.

"Pfft... the most nutritious? Aren’t those just scraps? Are they treating you like a compost bin? Don’t tell me they even fed you trash?" Negris burst out laughing.

Indeed, aside from the scraps, there were many other odd bits, clearly just trash. But Ma Wa Ni didn’t see it that way—after all, compared to what humans ate themselves, what they discarded felt more nutritious to it.

After finishing his questions to Ma Wa Ni, Little Ghost swallowed it up again. But this time, it wasn’t for transformation—it transported Ma Wa Ni to the Holy Kingdom. Little Ghost’s mouth could not only solidify skills into physical objects but also function as a space passageway to the Holy Kingdom.

"What a wonderful Ancient God—trash processor, area alarm system, plane decoration. Just a bit lacking in strength, though," Negris praised.

When strength was mentioned, Durken immediately retorted, "Not lacking at all, okay? Just listen."

Durken picked up a shard of Ma Wa Ni, scraping it with his fingertips—only faint white marks appeared.

The body Durken inhabited was that of a Mourning Undead Soldier, with fingers as dense as purple-gold metal, yet it could only leave superficial marks on the shard. This spoke volumes about the shard’s hardness.

"If not for Lord Ange, if a squad of Mourning Undead Soldiers had entered its vine forest, they’d have been trapped for sure. I wonder how strong its defense against Origin Power is. If it’s durable enough, it could make excellent alchemy material," Durken said, his excitement growing.

He had every reason to be thrilled. What might have been an idle journey to Ange was an exhilarating treasure hunt for him.

What does an alchemist desire most? Not gold or jewels, not divine artifacts or equipment, but materials—new materials, advanced new materials.

Since being summoned, Durken had encountered a Shard of Devouring Force, the Source of Water, the Source of Crystal, and now, the Silent Magic Vine. That made four kinds of unimaginable new materials.

Normally, coming across even one of such caliber would warrant writing about it for hundreds of Chapters. But now they were being presented to him all at once, both tormenting and delighting him. The delight was in the countless potential applications he could already imagine.

If more of their properties could be uncovered, the applications would multiply several-fold. Combining further ideas could amplify them again.

The torment came from having no time to test any of these ideas. He couldn’t even study the materials’ basic characteristics. For example, the Silent Magic Vine—he couldn’t even scratch it, let alone cut or crush it. New tools would have to be crafted.

Durken really wished Ange would send him back, but he couldn’t bear to leave—what if an even more astounding material appeared next?

He could already foresee one—the Divine Shell below. Durken had long been interested in the Divine Shell that housed and contained the God of Light. In the past, he hadn’t dared to even mention it since it belonged to Little Ghost.

But now, with a similar one present, surely he could scrape off a fragment, right? Take an imprint, maybe? Perhaps apply some magic to it?

As these thoughts spiraled in his mind, the communications link in the control tower below suddenly connected, and a voice said, "Control Tower, Vice Commander Bapos, can you hear me? I am ready on this side. Activate World-Ending Strike and bombard the Undead City once more. Let’s see which fool dares withstand my Apocalypse Attack."

"Yes, Lord of the North Crown," Bapos responded loudly. After cutting the link, he barked, "Prepare the World-Ending Strike! Raise the energy levels! Bring out the divine punishment sticks!"

Immediately, several individuals grabbed peculiar rods and strode to the platform, mercilessly striking the suspended iron sphere. The clanging sound echoed as agonized roars emanated from within the Divine Shell.

Anthony glanced at Durken and Silver Coin, nodded to them, then turned to Ange and said, "Lord, please stand guard. Leave the rest to us. If anything slips through, we’ll let you take care of it."
