Chapter 60: Evil Has Its Own Karma

Grandma Moore was also infuriated at the two of them. Letting Laura into their household was the biggest mistake they had ever made—not only did she cause their son to die, but now she was also trying to harm her grandson’s reputation.

At this moment, the Moore family members were all gathered in a hotel room and discussing their next moves.

Frankie was pacing anxiously, not expecting Jessie to have this trick up her sleeve and only waiting for him to fall for her bait! He had been caught off guard!

Some of his friends who helped spread the news were also implicated. Having faced penalties, they were all venting their anger on him as they threatened to expose him in the class groups, claiming he was truly disgusting.

"Jessie, that insufferable girl! We’re at least blood relatives. It’s fine if she doesn’t want to give us any money, but how could she treat us like this?" Frankie’s father angrily cursed, putting all the blame on Jessie.

At first, they had attempted to cyberbully her. While it did gain some traction, it didn’t do much. Later on, it even got overshadowed by the scandal involving Julia, further reducing its impact. However, the moment Jessie released her blog post, it shot straight up to the hot search list and made the issue widely known to the world. Many people were calling to ask more about it, and a lot of online users berated them.

Some bloggers even made a meme video out of their previous live-streams where they were crying for sympathy, circulating it online repeatedly, and thoroughly ruining their reputation. .com

They had no idea about Laura and Jessie’s situation. Regardless, they were indeed not doing well alone by now. Not only were they being yelled at, but people would also recognize their faces and chase them while yelling as they were on their way to the hotel. Even the hotel security and staff disliked them. When it was time to check out, they had no doubt these people would kick them out straight away.

The usually silent sister-in-law finally spoke in an icy tone, "Do you not recall how you demanded money and drove Laura and Jessie out back then? I was against it from the start. Also, you immediately treated Big Brother’s wife and daughter horribly after his accident and death. Didn’t he treat you guys well? That money rightfully belonged to Laura and Jessie, but you all took it while proclaiming that they wouldn’t need to support you anymore in the future. Now that it’s time for you to spend money again, you suddenly remember them and are forcing them to pay up once more.

"And don’t blame me for saying it outright, but our parents were living just fine in the old village. If it weren’t for you wanting to send your sons and daughters to the city for school, persuading them to live in town without wanting to spend much, you wouldn’t have targeted Laura and Jessie. If you didn’t push them to the edge, would they have struck back?

"In the past, you even went to Jessie’s school and demanded money to sever ties with her. Laura didn’t want her daughter to be affected by this, so she had paid up. You thought they were easy to bully because of that, right? All your actions have been documented; do you think writing a few things can reverse the truth? It’s laughable that you only see the consequences now. All the sins you commit will eventually come back to you!"

Her outburst had left everyone in silence, and everyone began to shirk their responsibilities.

Grandpa Moore was so angry that he had a headache. "Right now, we need to find a way to contact Jessie quickly. Have her delete the online posts, or else the impact will only grow bigger!"

Frankie looked helpless. "Grandpa, she has already blocked us. We have no way to reach her. She’s too cunning! She was just pretending all along!"

"How about you and Grandma apologize to Jessie? Admit the past mistakes, say you want to make amends, and now, as age catches up with you, you wish to spend your last days with your granddaughter. Since she’s probably going to disagree, you have to take these kinds of measures. Maybe if you cry a bit and show some pity, the netizens might sympathize with us."

Upon hearing this, Grandpa Moore immediately frowned as he said sternly, "Why should I apologize to her? We are her grandparents; supporting and giving us money is her duty."

Grandma Moore also chimed in, "Exactly. How could a single agreement mean she doesn’t recognize us as her grandparents anymore? There’s no such logic under heaven! We’re old people; what’s wrong with asking her to spend some money on us?"

"Let those people condemning us online say whatever they like; after all, they can’t really do anything to us!"

Grandma Moore had an overly naive view of the world, assuming that people would merely curse them out online and not follow them back to confront them in the village.

However, their retribution came swiftly when the hotel manager knocked on their door, asking them to leave as their presence was affecting the hotel’s reputation. After saying this, he had even flaunted a disdainful look toward them.

This enraged Grandpa Moore as he asked, "Haven’t we paid? Why do they treat us with such disdain?"

Finding no other accommodation willing to take them, they had no option but to move to their third daughter-in-law’s residence.

The pregnant daughter-in-law’s face darkened immediately upon seeing so many people showing up, complaining to her husband.

On the other hand, Jessie had no idea about the commotion happening within the Moore family. She slept especially well that night, reminiscing about the happy days during her childhood when her parents were still around, as her pillow soaked up her tears.

When she woke up and realized it was just a dream, she sighed and picked up her phone before scrolling through her photo album. There was an old photograph of their family of three in there. fr eewe(b)nove.l.co\m

"Dad, rest assured; I’ve grown up. Mom treats me well, but she had been lonely for far too long by herself, so she remarried. Don’t blame her; she’s had it tough."

After speaking to herself, she noticed a barrage of missed calls and messages. Seeing them, she assumed they were all from the Moore family.

When she checked them, they were indeed pleas for her to delete the blog post as they reiterated that they were ultimately family. The messages claimed that she should not push them to their limit and even said that her grandparents always had her in their minds, urging her to come visit.

Jessie found it laughably ironic. Given how they treated her before and her retaliation to this, suddenly she was the one who was being ruthless?

She promptly blocked and deleted their contacts, then got ready for the day. Due to Kevin’s generous help lately, she prepared an extra egg for his breakfast and made some of his favorite dishes.

When Kevin opened the door, the aroma of breakfast greeted him as he spotted the spread on the table.

"Is there a special occasion? There’s so much food today."

She nodded joyfully. "Yes! Aunt Taylor’s daughter-in-law’s friend’s neighbor’s dog gave birth to four puppies today. Isn’t that a joyous reason? She gave me some eggs, which I cooked; they’re on your plate.

"Let’s both say thank you to Aunt Taylor."

Kevin chuckled at her playful banter, a subtle smile curling his lips as he nodded. "Thank you, Aunt Taylor."

He sat down, ready to eat. He noticed Jessie across the table, resting her head in her hand as she gazed at him.
