Chapter 33: Isabella Rossi’s Sister

Isabella had just finished comforting Marco when her phone suddenly rang with a notification. She quickly reached for it, her expression darkening when she read the message she received.

Marco noticed her change in mood and comforted her, "What’s wrong? Couldn’t find her?"

In fact, Isabella had always been busy searching for her biological sister. She grew up in an orphanage, and through her own efforts and intelligence, she made a name for herself and was noticed by the Rossi family’s patriarch. That was how she could marry into the Rossi family and become their daughter-in-law, leading to a harmonious marriage.

It was only by chance that she learned she wasn’t abandoned but kidnapped. Her parents had never stopped searching for her, traveling everywhere with her little sister in hopes of finding her.

Later, her parents were tragically killed by an irresponsible driver. On the other hand, her sister was sent to a local welfare institution.

Isabella made a special effort to inquire about her sister’s whereabouts, finding out that her sister was later adopted but also encountered traffickers. To this day, no one knows where her sister is, and this has always been a deep regret in Isabella’s heart.

Marco wrapped his arms around her and softly reassured, "It’s okay, we’ll definitely find her."

He knew how much time and importance his wife had dedicated to this matter over the years, so he was determined to help Isabella find her sister no matter what.

Regarding the clues from the welfare institution, they only had an old photo of her sister as a child.

With the internet being so advanced now, they could only hope someone would recognize the person in the picture and help them find her. free\we,bnovel.c o(m)

He had just called his eldest son to pick up Julia, while he stayed to comfort Isabella.

On the other hand, Leon Rossi received the call and immediately went to the restaurant to take his sister away, not forgetting to scold her.

"Mom has been upset lately. You know that, yet you still want to add more to her plate at this time. You’re really hopeless!"

The staff sighed with relief when they finally saw someone rein in Julia. They greeted Leon before leaving.

Julia pouted her cheeks angrily and crossed her arms. "I was just expressing my feelings, what’s wrong with that? Besides, I genuinely like him. If I don’t make a move, wouldn’t I have no chance at all?" fre\e(w)ebn ov.e l\. co.m

Leon couldn’t bear it anymore and knocked her on the head. "Enough! Now come home with me!"

In the car, he glanced at her in the rearview mirror and sighed helplessly. "Julia, it’s not that I don’t want you to go after someone you like, but you have to consider who you’re going after.

That’s Kevin Harper. All these years, have you seen any woman close to him?"

"Mom and Dad are worried about you. Do you think our family’s cooperation with his company directly means we have a good relationship with him? There are many things in the business world you don’t know. What if Kevin uses this to manipulate you?"

Julia had not thought that far and stubbornly said, "Don’t worry, Leon. I know what I’m doing."

Meanwhile, Jessie was busy in the store, completely unaware that she had a new rival. Business was good today, but there were several delivery orders pending. There were times she would feel overwhelmed, and even considered hiring someone to handle the deliveries so that she could focus on the shop.

One of the orders was conveniently along the route to Quiet River Community, so she decided to drop it off last. She had never been to the area behind the community and did not realize how dark it was. With the flickering street lights and no one in sight, she felt a bit scared.

After some thought, she decided to leave and take the main road since it seemed safer as the sky was getting darker. As she cycled onto the street, a few shady men suddenly appeared out of nowhere as they whistled and laughed at her.

"Miss, you’re so pretty! Want to come out with us for some fun?"

A few of them tried to approach her, but she dodged them, her heart racing. She clutched her phone in her pocket, calculating that Kevin was likely already off work. Calling the police would be too late, so she decided to call him or for help.

There were only three or four of them, and they were all thin as monkeys—Kevin could easily handle them.

As one of them approached, Jessie immediately jumped off her bike and called Kevin while running.

"Stop! Don’t run!"

They shouted as they chased her.

Around the corner, a hand suddenly grabbed her wrist and pulled her over. Startled, she almost screamed, but then she realized it was Steve.

"What are you doing here?" she asked, wide-eyed in shock.

Steve didn’t rush to answer. He gazed coldly at the men behind her, his arm veins bulging while he exuded an intimidating aura.

They were just a bunch of bullies who were afraid of strength, so once they saw that Jessie was with someone, they didn’t dare to come forward and eventually slunk away.

Jessie finally breathed a sigh of relief, raising her phone to see that Kevin had not answered. She hung up the call, not giving it much thought.

"Are you okay, Jessie?" Steve anxiously scanned her up and down, realizing he was still holding her wrist. He quickly let go, blushing.

She waved her hand in gratitude. "I’m fine; thank you so much for earlier. If it weren’t for you, I would have been ready to grab a stick and fight them off myself."

Steve looked into her sparkling eyes, bashfully lowering his head and scratching it. "It’s nothing. I just happened to pass by. But you should really avoid dark areas like this, and maybe learn some self-defense skills. They can be quite handy."

She agreed that he had a point and was already planning to take some courses.

Nearby, a Maybach was parked by the roadside. The driver frowned, observing the scene before eventually speaking up.

"Young Master, isn’t that Young Madam standing there?"

As Kevin’s driver and bodyguard, he often paid close attention to the surroundings.

Upon hearing this, Kevin followed his gaze to see a man and a woman under the streetlight. He didn’t recognize the man, but the woman did look a lot like Jessie.

Having lived with Jessie for some time, he had become familiar with her silhouette.

The driver expertly took out his phone, zoomed in, and snapped a clear picture to show Kevin.

Seeing the photo clearly, Kevin’s eyes widened in astonishment.

Wasn’t that Steve? That’s his rival! How could they be together?
