Chapter 17: Man in Maybach

Chapter 17: Man in Maybach

Jessie had always felt like the person in the car was somewhat familiar, but how could a luxury car like a Maybach appear here?

Steve followed her gaze and looked over. He squinted his eyes to look closer, but the Maybach had already left before he could see clearly.

She pursed her lips, thinking it might have just been some wealthy person passing by coincidentally. She didn’t think too much about it and turned back to see Steve staring blankly. Feeling curious, she asked, “What’s wrong?”

Upon hearing her voice, he came back to his senses and shook his head, explaining, "I could have sworn that the car just now belongs to the Harper family’s young master, President Harper."

Hearing this, Jessie burst into laughter and waved her hand dismissively. "You must have made a mistake. How could his car be here?"

If it were some wealthy person from Grace City passing by, she could believe it, but the richest man from the Harper family? Just thinking about it made it clear that it was impossible.

How could such a big shot come to this small remote place? It didn’t make any sense.

Hearing Jessie say that, Steve also began to doubt his eyes and nodded in response.

"Perhaps I really saw it wrong..."

Jessie nodded firmly. "Of course!"

She glanced at the clock on the wall, feeling puzzled as she asked, "Why hasn’t Lilian come back yet?"

At the same time, Lilian had just bought coffee and walked out of the shop. She took a sip of her latte and was about to return it, but she accidentally tripped over something under her feet and fell forward uncontrollably.

"Ah!" She let out a sharp scream, falling to the ground as the coffee in her hand flew out.

"Ouch!” Lilian muttered, rubbing her butt as she stood up from the ground. "What did I trip on just now? How unlucky."

She frowned, suddenly seeing a dark shadow in front of her as a man’s deep voice sounded from above.

"Excuse me, Miss."

"Huh?" Lilian looked up in confusion, her pupils shrinking suddenly.

The man in front of her had his white shirt stained with coffee, looking rather miserable.

"Sorry, I accidentally tripped just now. Don’t worry, I won’t simply run away. Let me take this to the dry cleaner for you."

The man had a sour look on his face, his eyebrows furrowed as he replied in a low voice, "This suit was handcrafted by a foreign designer; it can’t be washed so easily."

"Then... let me compensate you for it." Lilian bowed apologetically, handing him her business card. "Don’t worry, since I caused this accident, I will take full responsibility."

He nodded, taking the card. He inspected her name on it before nodding and letting her go.

"OK, I’ll contact you."

With that, he got into a luxury car nearby and left.

Watching the Rolls-Royce leaving, Lilian sighed deeply, feeling the huge gap of status that existed between people.

Some people rode in luxury cars, while others had to visit the coffee shop again for another cup of coffee. .com

When Lilian came back, Jessie saw her troubled expression and knew that something bad had happened.

"What’s wrong?" She went up to help Lilian sit down.

Lilian put down the coffee and directly cried to Steve, "Boss! I think I accidentally ruined someone’s suit, and it looks really expensive! I don’t know how much I will have to pay him!"

She frowned, looking distressed.

Even just hearing about it was enough for Jessie to feel like the price must be high.

"What brand of suit?" Steve asked curiously.

Lilian shook her head, recalling the man’s words. "I don’t know, he said it was a handcrafted suit by a famous foreign designer."

Steve nodded before explaining, "If it’s really as he said, then the price is probably sky-high, at least one hundred thousand dollars."

hundred thousand dollars? That number was simply astronomical to Lilian. Her eyes widened in disbelief as she looked at Steve in shock.

Jessie patted Lilian’s shoulder to comfort her. "Don’t worry. Maybe that person was just trying to scare you."

Lilian shook her head while looking lifeless. "No, I saw him get into a Rolls-Royce." free we\bnove(l).com

And just by observing his demeanor before, she could tell he wasn’t just an average person.

Jessie could only comfort her. "Then wait for him to call. Don’t worry; if you don’t have enough money, you can just borrow some from me."

Lilian immediately hugged Jessie. "Jessie, you’re so kind."

On the other hand, seeing the familiar Rolls-Royce on the side of the road, Kevin immediately ordered his driver to stop and rolled down the window in curiosity.

"Bryan, why are you stopping here?"

Bryan Cooper rolled down the window and replied, "Hey Kevin, I came back to change my clothes because someone accidentally spilled coffee on me while I was inspecting the shop today."

"Who would have the guts to do that?" Kevin frowned.

People of their status often encountered individuals who pretended to spill coffee just to spark a conversation. Kevin despised such scheming women the most.

Bryan shook his head. "It seems to be an accident, and that woman even gave me her business card to offer compensation later. I’m not that naive."

After a brief talk with Bryan, Kevin drove off.

Returning to the Quiet River Community, Kevin lifted his gaze toward the room with lights on.

‘She should be back by now.’

Thinking of how he saw Jessie laughing with another man today, he snorted coldly.

He wanted to see how she would explain what had happened today.

No wonder she didn’t need him to take her to the shop; she probably just wanted to hang out with another man behind his back.

He opened the door, and Jessie was preparing dinner, right carrying the dishes out of the kitchen.

She looked a little surprised when she saw him walk in.

"You finished work so early today? Perfect. Help me bring the dishes over."

Kevin had already mapped out how he would bring up what he saw earlier before he stepped into the room. But to his surprise, she started bossing him around before he could say a word.

He looked at her in an apron, finally deciding to help her out with the dishes first.

"I don’t know what you like, so I just cooked up some random dishes in hopes they will suit your taste," Jessie said as she put down a bowl of rice for him.

"It’s fine, I’m okay with anything." Kevin wasn’t picky on food.

With a variety of dishes in front of him, he had to admit that her cooking skills were indeed good, even better than he had imagined.

"How is it?" She anxiously waited for his response.

"It’s delicious," he replied truthfully.

"OK, guess what I saw today?"

"What?" He raised an eyebrow.

"Today, I saw a Maybach, and it appeared on the small road where my shop was located. What surprised me even more was that my classmate from college said it belonged to the richest man in the Harper family!" Jessie exclaimed.

Kevin’s hand paused as he tentatively asked, "What else did you see?"

"There was a person inside who looked just like you. Are you really not related to the Harper family?" she asked.
