Chapter 219: Having Fun

Tony was stunned to see Marcella rushing to welcome David Schmidt. He thanked him for bringing Beth and as she was talking to David, Beth looked at Tony and smiled.

Seeing the excited smile on Beth’s face, Tony fisted his hands. When he observed Marcella, he saw how casual she was. He decided not to mind Beth. He needed to take care of his heavily pregnant wife.

But he couldn’t take his eyes off Beth.

His eyes ended up frequently on Beth and he noticed her "dancing" with one man or another—every man whose support he needed.

He couldn’t take it any longer.

"Why did you invite her?" Tony hissed in Marcella’s ear.

"Why not?" she asked. "Did she bother you?" she raised her brows.

The softness around his eyes made his heart skip a beat. Why his eyes could sway, he couldn’t figure it out.

"No, but... She’s flirting with everyone. I don’t need her help in my career," he said.

All he needed was his wife and her alone. It irked him to see Beth trying to seduce her way into finding him support. Why should she do that for him?

"So, she does bother you," Marcella said.

Tony had already turned his attention toward Beth who was grinding her crotch over an old senator. The senator’s wife was glaring at the senator and still, the senator didn’t mind. Tony didn’t like what was going on there.

He did not need to succeed using this means! If Beth was doing it, she would expect something back. He had no plans on giving her what she wanted.

Marcella smirked looking at Tony. His jaws were clenched and his veins were popping in his forearm. He looked like he would punch someone. She waited to see if he would turn his attention toward her, but he didn’t and so, she walked away.

When Tony came to his senses, Marcella was at the other end of the hall talking to some of the ladies. She appeared to have a good rapport with them, or they might as well be pretending with each other as that was common among this circle of people.

Watching the smile on Marcella’s face, he smiled too. Harley came to talk to him at that time and he turned and shook his hands with him.

The haughtiness he expected on Harley’s face was missing. "We need to win that district this time," Harley said. "A lot ride on this. We’ve given up on that district for far too long and now we have the perfect chance," he said.

Tony almost told him not to ruin his chances if he thought that the party was riding on his win, but he didn’t. From the ancient days, the political landscape is filled with traitors and sycophants. Even Julius Caesar fell prey to the political system.

I am going to win this!

The party was over. Marcella checked on Joey the first thing and sat on the chair with her legs stretched. She threw away the shoes she was wearing and changed to flats. Although she was wearing two-inch high kitten heels, her legs felt dead.

Tony with no qualms, sat on the floor and massaged her legs.

"You were awesome today, Birdie," he said.

Marcella pretended to pop her collars and winked. "I know, right? I am keeping my promises," she said.

"You are..." Tony bent and kissed her feet.

Marcella’s first reaction was to pull back. Tony held her legs closer to his chest. Seeing that he was not going to back off, she leaned back comfortably on the backrest. "Does it smell bad?" she asked with a chuckle. Although she loved his massages, she didn’t want to put him through the torture of her smelly feet.

"Are you kidding?" Tony kissed her toes.

That answered Marcella. She leaned back and closed her eyes. "We should get Joey soon. Rosy said that Joey didn’t eat much and asked for an ice cream. She ended up~"

"Not about him," Tony pressed her toes, interjecting her story.

Marcella opened her eyes and with her head tilted, looked at him.

"Let’s not talk about our son, or my campaign, or about... Let’s talk about you; let’s talk about me—about us..." Tony looked at her.

Marcella nodded. Her lips curved to a small smile. The big hall was empty sparing the cleaners and although it was noisy, the corner they were sitting at was pretty calm. Maybe he was reflecting her smile, Tony had a peaceful smile too.

It has been a while since they had the quiet to talk about themselves.

"Come here..." Marcella patted to her side. If they were going to talk about themselves, she didn’t find it right he was sitting by her feet.

"Let me lean on you," she added knowing only then he would take her side.

He wrapped his arm around her shoulders and she leaned on his shoulder. She placed her left hand on his thigh.

"Look at my fingers... they’ve gotten swollen. I might have to remove the rings now just for safety," she said. "I don’t want to damage my engagement ring."

Tony held her hand and kissed it. "No matter how I try to think about it, I can’t believe how you are creating a life inside you, Birdie. It’s wonderous..."

"It is, isn’t it? The epitome of femininity is this..." She placed her hand on her belly.

Tony kissed her cheek. "Agree... It’s... You are the best, Marcella," he said. He had no other words that could describe what he wanted to say.

Marcella smiled and kissed his cheek. "You, however..." she poked the slight belly he had developed after eating junk food during his campaign tour.

"Hub!" Tony sucked in a deep breath in an attempt to suck in his belly. Still, she could feel the soft fat.

Marcella chuckled.

"Oh, for Christ’s sake, Birdie..." he held her cheek and kissed her.

Marcella closed her eyes as he deepened the kiss. Holding his cheek, she looked at him as he retreated after the fiery kiss.

"You make me get lost in those eyes of yours, Tony..." she leaned and kissed him.

Tony wrapped his arms around her and carried her. Not letting her say a word, he carried her to the elevator and above.

"What?" she asked wrapping her arms around his shoulder. She had figured out that he had booked a room for them for the night. She welcomed that decision. His hesitation as he got inside the room, confused her.

"Is it okay?" He pointed at her belly.

"It’s fine," Marcella said. "The doctor didn’t tell me anything against it. Also, Mary said it might actually help in delivery."

Tony didn’t have to hear more and go on top of her.

"Let’s have fun, Birdie," he said removing his shirt.

Marcella smiled and hugged him. "Yeah, let’s."
