Chapter 202: A Secret Deal

Chapter 202: A Secret Deal

"She looks happy," Dante told his wife. His face bloomed with happiness seeing Marcella at the distance.

Both of them were looking from the window of their bedroom. In the olive garden, they could see Marcella riding a horse and playing with her husband who was chasing her around.

"She chose well, didn’t she? I saw him supporting her well," Margaret said offering him a cup of tea.

Dante nodded. "Don’t you think their happiness is worth losing some millions over?" he asked.

After Paul Romano’s death, he heard that Andrew Mellon was planning on retaliating against his niece. He interfered and talked with the Mellon family to make a deal. He suffered losses. But it was worth it for his niece’s happiness. The Mellon family vowed their support to the couple. Talks are going on in the Mellon family about publicly disowning Andrew from the family.

He heard Andrew might get booked on some white-collar felony charges.

The next-in-line to the Mellon family throne promised him that his family would support Crawford in his future plans the best way they do—behind the scenes.

All in all, Dante was happy about the deal they made. If they break their word, he knew of ways to nudge them to keep their word. He was not going to stay still when it came to the remaining daughter of his dear brother.

Margaret smiled. She might not agree with her husband over everything but he was right in this. Whatever they have, they owe it to Joeseph DeAngelo. Losing some millions for the safety of his daughter should be their duty.

"I regret not watching over Mellissa. I shouldn’t have trusted that snake with my brother’s precious daughter," Dante fisted his hands.

He trusted Paul Romano a lot. Her death was a wake-up call for him. He decided to keep a closer eye on his niece from now on. His brother’s bloodline should live on.

Margaret leaned on his arm. "Her son lives and through him, a part of your brother lives," she said. She had no other words to comfort her husband. Her husband was broken hearing of Mellissa’s death. He didn’t speak about it but she knew that he was still carrying the burden in his heart.

Dante looked in the distance. "I hope I live to see more of his grandsons..." he sighed looking at Marcella.

"They are young and full of love. They will have a lot of kids," Margaret said.

Dante stared at them for some time. They were competing against each other but at the same time, they cared for each other so much.

Yeah. Everything will be fine.

After riding the horse for a while, Marcella decided to rest. She was almost at the edge of the property and beyond the property was a stream flowing. The place was so serene.

She tied her horse and sat under a tree. Tony joined her.

"It’s all so beautiful, isn’t it?" she said. "Uncle told me that he bought the place he and Dad grew up. The house was built over the house they rented in the past... Isn’t that amazing?" she asked. "Layla told me that my great-grandmother was so happy her sons were doing well and she got to live in the place she used to live as a tenant."

Tony put his arm around her shoulder and pulled her closer. He kissed her cheek. Lately, she’s been so happy and it was nice to see the wide smile on her face all the time.

"It is amazing," he rubbed her arm. After visiting his grandfather’s relatives, he could understand how she felt. "You want to stay here?" he asked.

"No," Marcella shook her head immediately surprising Tony.

He thought that she would definitely say that she would love to stay here for some more days after the wedding.

"I am glad I have this place I can visit whenever I want to but I want to go back home," she said.

Yes, she loved this place. But this was not home. Her home is where she wanted to build her life with her husband.

Tony kissed her. He should have expected this from her.

"Do you think Joey will be looking for us?" Marcella asked.

Her cousins wouldn’t let Jeoy with her as they wanted to play with Joey all the time. They managed to feed him and engage him the entire day, she rarely saw him during the day. In just a few days, his face had gotten rounder with all the feeding he received.

"Who? He?" Tony scoffed. "He’s found the high in being treated as the prince of the family. I’m afraid he won’t want to return with us. Ingrate..." Tony mumbled.

Marcella could only laugh. But Tony might not be wrong. At night, they had to pry him from others. He enjoyed being pampered by his cousins and since there are other kids his age he loved spending time with them.

Tony interlocked his fingers with her fingers. Marcella squeezed his hand and kissed it. She loved the time she got to spend with him.

"Your uncle talked to me last night. He was a little drunk and was very appreciative of the roast you cooked," Tony said.

"He said he liked my cooking?" Marcella raised her brows. He didn’t tell her anything at dinner.

Tony nodded. "He was a happy drunk and talked a lot."

"What else did he say?" she asked.

Tony shrugged.

"Come on, tell me, Tony..." Marcella pleaded with him.

Tony teased her with a somber smile. "Me and him had some man-talk. You need not know about that."

"Man-talk?" Marcella looked at him with a pout.

Tony shrugged with a meaningful smile. It only made Marcella more curious.

"Tony..."

"He... he told me that you inherited a lot of the qualities of your father. He said that at times, even your mannerisms matched Don..." Tony said after allowing her to plead with him for some time.

"Like my dad?" Marcella raised her brows. "Do I act manly? Am I not feminine?" she asked.

Her father was the manliest man she knew. She didn’t think she was acting like her father.

Tony pressed his lips. "Feminine? You?" he scoffed.

He was in a mood to tease her.

"Tony..." she glared at him.
