Flash Marriage: Shrewd Wife, Devious Husband
Chapter 199: A Surprise Gift

Chapter 199: A Surprise Gift

"Birdie, no!"

Tony chuckled as he ran away from her. The hallways were dark and there was no one in the house. He clicked the camera for the flashes.

"Birdie!!"

He shouted amidst his laughs. He probably was the only one who found it funny when his wife chased him with a gun. He ran from one room to another and he didn’t even bother to close the room behind him.

He knew it. His not-so-athletic wife will lose her stamina soon. He made sure she was left with a little stamina. Why not use this chance to relive their childhood?

After a while of chasing him, Marcella ended up laughing with him. More than his laughter, the way his butt moved when he ran made her laugh. She had never had the chance to see that before. She wanted to give a tight slap to those round bottoms.

The entire house echoed their laughs. She stopped as she couldn’t chase him around anymore.

Dropping the pillow to the floor, she panted. Tony stopped running and turned to face her.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

He stopped flashing the camera.

"Why?" she asked after gathering her breath. "You can’t develop the film. Were you going to find a female developer, or were you planning on having my picture published~"

"I just wanted to..." Tony let out a deep breath realizing the blunder he committed. All he thought was that it would be nice to have a naked picture of his wife with him. His tunnel-brain didn’t compute anything else.

Once again, she was right.

"If you really wanted to show me, you could have used a mirror!" she said.

It’s not like he could drive his point across immediately if he took a picture. It would have taken days even if there weren’t other complications.

"You are a politician, Tony. Leaving my feelings aside, a picture of me would cause a scandal for you. Do you even want to run anymore, Tony? You’ve become so~"

As she was talking, he walked to her and kissed her. She had already gotten stressed and he was the reason.

Stella mentioned it too.

He used to be thorough with everything, ever since he married the smartest person he knew, he became pretty lax with everything except for her safety. By doing so, he inadvertently left the burden with her. Yes, she promised to support him with his ambition. She kept her word till now and he had added burden to her.

She did everything thinking of him and his career in mind while he was relaxing. She had every detail of his life at the tip of her fingers and took every move with him in mind.

She was not always someone who stressed over stuff and he didn’t think that she would end up getting burdened. Her stressing out was an effect of her taking the promise seriously.

"I am sorry," he said and carried her back to their room.

He truly was sorry. He only saw the effects of her stress and considered her overbearing. He decided to not give her stress from now on. On the way, upon Marcella’s insistence, he checked on the nursery. Joey was sleeping peacefully. He had a nice play in the evening and he was out like a log.

He gently placed her on the bed. He knew she was stunned by just this and she was tired too. She wanted to sleep.

"Pack my luggage tomorrow," he said.

"Why? Are you going somewhere?" Marcella asked. He didn’t say anything about going on a trip. She had no problem packing his bag but for that she needed details.

"Wait one minute, please..." he ran back into the closet.

"Don’t bring any more silly things, Tony," she said with a sigh. She didn’t have the energy to handle him now. She wore her nightwear and prepared for bed. The sheets were dirty and she pulled it down when Tony walked out of the closet.

Tony kneeled in front of her and Marcella took a quick step back. "What?" she asked. She was startled when he kneeled out of nowhere.

He offered her an envelope. Her heart skipped a beat.

What could this be?

Turning on the bedside lamp, she opened the envelope. Inside were...airline tickets.

She got curious and took a closer look. When she checked the date and the names of the passengers, her eyes widened. She turned to look at Tony. He was still on his knees and was grinning widely.

"Tony...?" she raised her brows. She couldn’t speak further and she stuffed the tickets in his hands.

"They are real," Tony stood up and hugged her. "We are leaving for Scotland the day after tomorrow. From there, we can visit everywhere you want to visit in Europe before we attend your cousin’s wedding... It might not be the perfect honeymoon. But for a month, I am all yours."

"Really?" Marcella still couldn’t believe her eyes. She was dreading going alone in an airplane and through Europe. But she wanted to visit everywhere.

"How?" she asked. He said he would be busy and it would be hard for him to even attend the wedding. "What about your work?" she asked.

Tony shrugged. Yes, he had work. But it can wait. He had been working for years and it would be there whenever he returned. But she... He didn’t want to lose her to stress.

Stella told him an important point on why Marcella was more stressed about the baby thing than him. She goes out all the time and usually interacts more with women. Women are usually curious about family and even if they didn’t intend to hurt her, they would talk to Marcella about babies. He didn’t get asked about his family life almost ever. Men don’t care about other men’s family neither do they talk about private matters much. So he never felt the brunt of that stress.

He had lived his life alone for the most part and Stella had to explain to him that the life of a man and a woman are different worlds although they exist together.

About having a baby, it’s not that they were not trying. It’s just... It’s not happening. He had no control over it. But the least he could do was to take her out of this stressful situation for some time. Her mind would get cleared and he wanted to see her enjoy life a little.

His career is not that important. She didn’t have to sacrifice her well-being for his career. Whenever he returned, he was confident to catch up where he left off.

Lost time with his wife, however, couldn’t be reclaimed.

In a way, he was grateful that they didn’t have a child. She was not pregnant either. She can travel and enjoy this trip. One toddler would be a handful to handle on this trip. If they had a baby, it would have been impossible to make this trip.

If he missed this chance, he didn’t think he would get another chance like this. Maybe when they are old, but then, they would be too tired to do anything worthwhile.

Why waste their youth for ambition? A month is not too much and at the same time, it was more than enough to cement a bond between them.

"All yours, Birdie," he kissed her. "I am not going to think about my work; neither do you."

Marcella hugged him. "Thank you, Tony! Thank you so much!"

She was so happy, tears rolled down her cheeks.

We are going on a honeymoon!
