Flash Marriage: Shrewd Wife, Devious Husband
Chapter 197: Leisurely Time

Chapter 197: Leisurely Time

"It’s a women’s health magazine..." Marcella laughed.

She was surprised her husband thought that she would bother to read a book. She only reads magazines; he knows that.

"So? Read anyway," Tony said without missing a beat.

Marcella didn’t bother him anymore and read about the hormonal changes a woman faces every menstrual cycle. She didn’t think he would be interested in knowing the workings of a woman’s body.

"I heard that somewhere—endometrium..." he said as she was reading.

Marcella took a good look at his face. "You are listening?" she asked.

Why would he want to know this?

"Why can’t I?" he asked. "You have a uterus. I should know about it. Ah, right! We learned about all this in science class back in school! How did I forget everything already?"

Marcella could only roll her eyes. Even she had forgotten everything she learned about this. She was the one who went through the cycles. But she was touched that Tony wanted to learn about the inner workings of her body.

"Should I continue?" she asked.

Tony nodded and she continued her reading. While she was reading, Tony gently caressed her abdomen. Marcella liked his gentle caress.

"You people are something..." he said when she finished reading. He was reminded that mood swings are part and parcel of being a woman because of all the hormonal changes they undergo each month. Also, he now could get why she insisted on doing "it" a select few days every month. It made sense scientifically.

Marcella chuckled. What else could she do? It’s not like she could stop being a woman.

"I love you, Birdie," he said cupping her cheeks. "Do I say it at all lately?" he asked.

"You do," Marcella caressed his hair. "Why?" she furrowed her brows. "I would know even if you don’t say it. Why are you talking like this? Are you okay?" she asked. He was acting a little weird.

"No, nothing..." he hugged her. His nose was over her abdomen and as he breathed, Marcella felt his warm breath on her. The warmth spread all over her. He held her hand and kissed the tip of her fingers one by one. Marcella closed her eyes and enjoyed the warmth and softness of his lips on her fingers.

He was different tonight; she could feel it. It had been a while since they spent time like this on the bed. They did a lot together, they did a lot alone, and they did have their "cuddling" time in bed. Their life had turned a little scheduled. She wouldn’t blame him for that for she was the one who turned it that way. She wanted it that way. Her priority was to have a baby by the end of this year.

Today was her ovulation day and it would be perfect for trying for a baby. She reminded him for that reason. She prepared everything so that nothing gets ruined at night.

But having him on her lap like that, she didn’t feel the hurry. The hastiness and the stress she were holding in her heart melted away when she saw the bouquet in his hands. Being leisurely with him like this, she got reminded of their olden days when they did this often.

Foreplay!

That was another thing they had forgotten for a few weeks now. When was the last time they did "it" leisurely, she couldn’t remember. She would be tired on that perfect day or it would be him who’d be home late, and in the end, they would do it just for the sake of it, hoping that they made a baby.

She looked at Tony’s face. He was holding her hand over his cheek. With his eyes closed and a goofy smile on his face, he looked so adorable. He looked tired and was ready to fall asleep. She would have lost her mind any other time, but this day, she didn’t feel like getting mad at him for wanting to sleep. He looked cute.

Ah... Maybe next month...

She waited in vain for a baby for many months now. What’s one more month?

She kissed his forehead and he giggled like a little boy. With a smile, she placed the book on the nightstand and turned off the light. Leaning on the headboard, she caressed his hair. He was enjoying it.

"Uncle called today," she said.

Tony hummed.

"He wanted me to decide the main dish of the wedding dinner," she chuckled. Apparently, her cousin and aunt were on a stalemate and her uncle thought she should be the tie-breaker.

"What did you choose?" Tony asked.

"Your favorite," Marcella said. "I don’t know whose side I took. Either my cousin or my aunt would be mad at me," she giggled.

"Your uncle didn’t say who asked for what?" Tony asked. He laughed with her.

He didn’t know their families were this close. Her uncle couldn’t even come to Mellissa’s funeral and their wedding party. They talked a lot about making a deal with McLaughlin about the island. Whenever he talked, her uncle would answer him and their talks were nothing more than business dealings.

This wedding had brought them together much closer. If it made Marcella happy, he was okay with it.

"When I picked up the phone, Tony..." Marcella’s voice turned serious. "Uncle...he sounded just like dad...For a moment, I thought if it was..."

Tony let out a deep breath. He kissed her hand.

"Are you crying?" he sat up hearing her sniff.

She hugged him and he patted her back.

"Oh, Birdie..."

"I miss him so much... "

"Me too, Birdie... Me too..." Tony gently caressed her back.

She composed herself within a moment.

"Lie down if you are tired. I’ll come to bed after checking on Joey once," she tried to get down from the bed.

"What? Tired? Who is tired? Are you trying to escape me?" Tony pulled her down and got on top of her. "I am going to devour you tonight." He hungrily reached for her neck.

"You’re not tired?" Marcella covered his mouth.

"Me? Why do you think I brought you flowers? I was waiting for this..."

Tony tore away her clothes and proved to her that he was truly not tired.
