Chapter 190: Not Taking Insults

Chapter 190: Not Taking Insults

Rosy brought Joey in and when she saw the both of them sleeping on the small bed, she silently went outside. She tried to stop the doctor who came for the rounds but the doctor couldn’t be stopped.

Seeing the patient’s bed being occupied by another person, the doctor was not pleased.

"You cannot make this about yourself, Mrs. Crawford," the doctor chided her.

Marcella, although groggy because she was rudely woken up, understood the doctor. Tony needs to be healed properly. Occupying his bed will not help in that.

She apologized and stood up. She can accept it when she is wrong.

But Tony did not.

He pulled out the IV in his hands and held her hand. "No one is allowed to be rude to her," he said huffing in anger. He winced as he clenched his jaws together. "I will not get treated in this hospital!" He shouted.

Marcella was stunned. "But the doctor is right, Tony," she tried to stop him.

She saw the blood drops on his hand and knots formed in her stomach.

"No, no, Birdie. No, he was not right to say to your face that you are making it about yourself. Why? Can’t you get tired?" he pulled her out of the room. "He’s just a doctor, Birdie. There are thousands of them with proper bedside manners and there are hundreds of hospitals all over the country. I will not get treated in this shitty hospital," he said and walked right out.

Marcella noticed Rosy holding Joey. She tried to talk to her but Tony was pulling her with force. Rosy followed hem with a smile. Henry too didn’t make any effort to pacify Tony and was preparing to leave.

Just as they reached the exit, the Dean of the hospital caught up with them. That poor old fellow was heavily panting as he ran through the corridors to get to them.

Tony didn’t stop to listen to the Dean and got inside the car. He didn’t even leave any space for Marcella to say a word. Since she couldn’t speak, Marcella pondered why Tony got that mad.

Then she realized it. The doctor made a valid point and it was understandable why the hospital had such a policy that forbids no one else on the patient’s bed.

But the doctor didn’t stop there. That’s what angered Tony.

He made personal insult at Marcella by suggesting that she made her husband’s injury about herself. That was projection on his part. When she thought about it now, she understood why the doctor was wrong although she didn’t find anything as an insult back then.

"You should stop treating educated people as right always, Birdie," Tony said. He held her hand tightly. She was aware that she didn’t pursue higher education and that gave her insecurities. At times, she wouldn’t consider the insult just because it was done by someone more educated. He didn’t want her to be like that.

What is education and a degree when he married the smartest of all women?

Marcella blinked. She didn’t know how to handle him now that he was mad. Thankfully, he waited until Rosy got in the car. Rosy was sitting in the front passenger seat with Joey. Marcella thought he wouldn’t talk to her in the car but he did.

What should she do now?

"He’s a doctor. He does know more than I..." She sighed seeing him glare at her. "Fine," she said.

"You are my wife. I do not like it when another man insults my wife right in front of my face, or elsewhere. Mind that. Everyone is human and you are better than everyone. He might be a doctor, or hell, he might even be a rocket scientist who sends rockets to the moon. No one is worth more than you. You are everything. Keep that in mind," he added.

Marcella looked at him. His tone was soft and his eyes were gentle. She gulped realizing how much he loved her for him to get insulted on her behalf. She knew he held her in high esteem although she never thought of herself as someone of high esteem. She lacked a lot.

His love sees her in high esteem. In his mind, she is above everyone else. She thought she was over her insecurities. She had grown a lot after the marriage but she still had some habits to change.

Tony is right. Just because someone is more educated, doesn’t mean that she can allow that person to insult her. She should stand up for herself more. Especially, when it hurts her husband to see her getting insulted, she should be more assertive.

"I’ll listen to you," she said and Tony nodded. "Good girl."

Henry smiled as he was driving the car. He didn’t mind Tony’s behavior. It is needed to assert his dominance in the public space. It warmed his heart seeing Tony drawing the line with the others. Bambi was Tony’s invaluable treasure as it should be. Don would be happy to see his daughter treated right by her husband.

"You talked a lot. Does it hurt?" she cupped his cheeks and asked.

He patted her hand and let out a deep breath. "I’m fine."

"Which hospital should we go to? Do you have a doctor in mind?" she asked.

She didn’t think that Tony left without any backup plan. The Dean was telling them that the doctor who treated Tony was the best in the city. She wondered if it was wise to leave his care for this issue.

"We are going home," Tony said.

Even Henry was shocked for a moment.

"How will you get treated?" Marcella asked. She did not like the careless attitude of Tony.

"I’ll rest at home and the doctors will visit me. I am not going to stay in a hospital," Tony said. His tone suggested that he had made this decision already.

Marcella wanted to shout at him for taking his health so lightly, but then she realized that it would be more feasible if Tony got treated in their home. She can get the opinion of the doctor and if he said that he was okay to get treated at home, then it would be for the best.

Seeing Tony, she gained confidence that his injuries weren’t that bad.

"We’ll get the best doctor in the country," she said holding his cheek. "I do not want my husband’s handsome face get ruined. I’ll kill anyone if my husband’s jaw doesn’t heal properly and his face returned to its handsomeness."

Rosy couldn’t control her laugh and she laughed covering her mouth. Henry let out a short chuckle. Tony glared at her.

"Will you throw me to the streets if my face changes?" Tony asked.

"You said that. Not me," Marcella smirked.

"You little..." Tony grabbed her neck and pulled her closer. He tried to kiss her but Marcella stopped him.

"You smell like bandages," she said. She leaned closer to his ears and whispered. "Can you even kiss me properly with the state you are in?"

Tony huffed. She was right! He couldn’t.

"I’ll talk to you after I get healed," he grumbled.

"Let’s see," Marcella smiled and leaned on his shoulder.

She wanted him to get healed sooner.
