Chapter 151: Little Expectation More Love

Marcella’s surprise for Tony was not all that.

"Take me on a drive, Tony. Tell me how it drives," she held his arm.

Tony cupped her cheeks. Without blinking his eyes, he stared at her. Marcella tried to stare back at him as if they had a staring contest.

"What?" Marcella was the one who broke eye contact as she couldn’t bear the intense love in his eyes. Her heart pounded wildly.

"I love you, Birdie," he said with his eyes focused sharply on her eyes.

Marcella buried her head on his chest. She couldn’t handle the pounding of her heart.

"Whaaaat?"

Tony tried to lift her face but she shook her head.

"What is it?" Tony asked. His tone revealed the mirth he had.

"My chest hurts," Marcella patted her chest.

Tony laughed. "Should we see a doctor?" he asked. "It’s not the first time I have said it and I only said it after you asked me to. You must be so unhealthy..."

Marcella was not very happy to hear his mockery. She glared at him.

"Fine, I won’t laugh," Tony raised his hands in a surrendering motion.

Marcella lifted her head and kissed him. "I won’t need a doctor, Tony." She smiled. "Don’t I have you—the one who resembles that cute doctor on TV?"

Tony chuckled. "Of course!"

He hugged her. That day, he was panicked to the max and wanted to stay by her side at all costs. He didn’t think that she remembered something he said to appear casual while he was hiding volcanic desperation in his heart.

He loved the place they were at right now. He would give up anything if it meant that she would love him like she does now.

"Why didn’t you get mad at me for forgetting Valentine’s Day? This is our first Valentine’s Day..." he said. He still couldn’t believe he forgot it. Stella tried to remind him but he was too busy to listen to her.

"Are you still feeling bad?" Marcella looked at him.

He brushed the hair on her cheek and placed his hand on her cheek. Marcella let out a deep breath. A smile bloomed on her face.

"What would that have achieved, silly?" she asked. "I knew you have been busy the past few days. I had a feeling you might forget it. You made this Christmas the best Christmas for me and I enjoyed spending the New Year with you. You got me the perfect view to watch the ball drop. That was the first time I watched it from Times Square. I knew how much you enjoyed seeing me happy... What would have happened if I got mad at you for forgetting one celebration?" she asked.

Tony smiled.

"I didn’t expect anything and I decided to do something for you. It doesn’t matter who arranges what. What matters the most is if we enjoyed the day together. I could have waited for you to plan something and gotten disappointed. I would have gotten angry at you and you would have felt guilty and that would have ruined the day more. We wouldn’t be able to enjoy it like..."

Marcella stopped seeing his eyes turn somber. She knew what would come next. He would want to "christen" his new car in a way he wants to.

"Come on, Tony. I am hungry. Drive..." she pushed him.

She told him the truthth. She was pleased with her life with Tony that she didn’t want to nitpick about this or that. He could be annoying at times—he still doesn’t like his clothes get washed or he forgets to pick up after himself; his worktable always overflows with papers and documents. But Tony was more than his faults. She was never pampered to that extent by anyone but Tony. The least she could give him is peace of mind.

"Where to?" Tony asked. He could sense that his wife had figured out his intentions.

If she could be so mature about everything, he could be too. He couldn’t hold back. She made his heart skip when she told him why she avoided a potential fight. She was within her right to get angry at him but she didn’t. She didn’t have to be this understanding toward him but she was. She did that with so ease as her heart was filled with love for him.

How can she be this perfect?

He wanted to fill her stomach, bring her home—to their garage, and christen the beautiful gift she got him.

Marcella told the restaurant where she made the reservations. She wanted to try out this restaurant for some time. Henry mentioned this restaurant to her as his cousin was the manager there. Apparently, the Italian restaurant was getting popular among the elites. Thanks to Henry, she could get the reservations in the VIP section of the restaurant.

Tony and Marcella walked into the restaurant hand in hand. The greeter welcomed them and collected their coats. The manager ushered them to the table. Marcella let Tony order for them.

Marcella loved the centerpiece on their table. They made a beautiful arrangement with the roses. After taking a mental note of it, she looked around. Lately, she found a great interest in decorating. It started after Tony noticed the arrangement, she made on their dining table one night. She tried to make an effort for that after that. She loved to hear his praises.

Tony and she chatted sweet nothings as they waited for the appetizers to arrive. One of the men sitting in the VIP area proposed to his girlfriend. The girl accepted and everyone clapped. It was a beautiful scene to behold.

Marcella wiped the corner of her eyes. Watching love come to fruition is always a good thing to behold. She was alerted by Tony as he stood up suddenly.

"Wait a moment, Birdie," he patted her hand as she was about to stand up out of instinct. "I’ll be right back."

Before Marcella could say anything, Tony rushed out. Everyone stared at him running like he was getting chased by a lion. Marcella bowed her head.

What is he doing?
