Chapter 1256: The intern he brought along

It turns out that Chief Editor Cheng is afraid of his wife.

After all, it is his own guilty conscience that makes him so afraid. This Wang Fuyi is also quite a beauty.

Just now, Mo Xiuchen and Gu Kai, in the parking lot outside, saw Chief Editor Cheng and the female reporter inside through the glass window when they got out of the car.

The two were talking with their heads down, their eyes looking somewhat ambiguous.

This is why Mo Xiuchen and Gu Kai probed them just now. They didn’t expect Chief Editor Cheng and Wang Fuyi to panic.

Gu Kai turned his phone towards them so they could see the photo in it, “Chief Editor Cheng, Miss Wang, you didn’t consider me and Bai Yiyi when you published this exclusive, did you?”

“Doctor Gu, this is my negligence. I didn’t review this report, I was very busy and exhausted last night. When Wang Fuyi sent the report to my email, she only mentioned it was an exclusive…”

Chief Editor Cheng was lying, but Gu Kai and Mo Xiuchen didn’t expose him; they just watched him indifferently and listened until he finished speaking.

“So, Chief Editor Cheng didn’t know after all.”

Mo Xiuchen said this to Gu Kai.

Gu Kai’s brows were cold, and his gaze faint as he looked at Wang Fuyi: “Who told you?”

“Doctor Gu, I don’t understand what you’re saying?”

Wang Fuyi didn’t want to betray her colleague, thinking playing dumb would suffice.

Gu Kai snorted coldly and dialed a number, speaking to the person on the other end of the phone: “Lawyer Lin, could you please come to Century Cafe…”

“Ah Kai, posting online is something that can be handled by Qing Feng and Qing Yang. They happen to be idle.”

Mo Xiuchen said leisurely.

Wang Fuyi hadn’t even opened her mouth when Chief Editor Cheng’s old face instantly changed, “Doctor Gu, to be honest, the person who leaked the information to our newspaper is someone called…”

“Editor-in-chief, that was a lie I told you. In reality, there was no informant; I just made it up because I was afraid you wouldn’t believe me,” said Wang Fuyi with a righteousness as if bravely heading to the execution ground.

“Doctor Gu, when Miss Fang mentioned that you two had broken up, I’ve been wanting to know why a talented man and a beautiful woman like you would split up. Later, I accidentally saw you dining with Bai Yiyi and followed you, taking pictures.”

“Just because I had a meal with Bai Yiyi, you concluded she was the third party. Miss Wang, do you think you have fiery eyes like the Monkey King?”

Gu Kai sneered, looking at Wang Fuyi mockingly. She really had loyalty not to betray the informant.

“Really, I did some investigation on Miss Bai. I went to your hospital, and overheard some nurses saying that Miss Bai wasn’t just intimately involved with you, but also had a daughter,” said Wang Fuyi.

“Nurses? Which nurse from our hospital?”

Gu Kai suddenly sat up from his lounging position in the chair, his aura spreading out coldly.

Wang Fuyi’s eyes flickered, “I don’t know who it was; I overheard it in the restroom.”

“Ah Kai, since Miss Wang is unwilling to betray her friend, then let’s not force her. It’s getting late, send the photos to Qing Feng and Qing Yang…”

“Mo General, Doctor Gu, you absolutely must not,” pleaded Chief Editor Cheng.

Chief Editor Cheng was about to have a heart attack from fright.

He glared at Wang Fuyi, saying resentfully: “Wang Fuyi, you can’t do this because of a Wei Jingshan…”

“Wei Jingshan?”

A sharpness burst out from the depth of Gu Kai’s eyes.

Seeing that Chief Editor Cheng had already let it slip, Wang Fuyi had no choice but to admit: “Doctor Gu, Jingshan only provided me with the information that you and Miss Bai were close. The rest, I investigated from other sources.”

“Yes, Doctor Gu, that Wei Jingshan is Wang Fuyi’s high school classmate. She’s the one who told Wang Fuyi about your ambiguous relationship with Miss Bai.”

Chief Editor Cheng, a sly and cunning man, couldn’t anticipate that Mo Xiuchen and Gu Kai, one a prominent figure in the business world and the other a genius in the medical field, would use such tactics to force him to reveal the source of the leak.

He originally thought that Mo Xiuchen would threaten him with a lawsuit or suppress their newspaper and the like.

He had prepared countermeasures for when he arrived.

But these two grown men resorted to such a crude and despicable approach, one with no sophistication at all.

Wen Ran stayed at Bai Yiyi’s house for a while before asking Bai Yiyi to bring Tongtong over to her place.

The reporters don’t know where Bai Yiyi is currently living.

This morning, they visited Kangning Hospital and Wen’s Pharmaceutical Factory, so there were no issues taking Bai Yiyi back to her house.

On the third floor, four little ones were happily playing in the spacious playground, while Wen Ran and Bai Yiyi sat chatting on the rattan swing chairs by the door. Wen Ran’s phone started ringing.

“It’s Mo Xiuchen calling, probably with some results,” Wen Ran said, spotting the caller ID, a hint of amusement flashing through her eyes, as she spoke to Bai Yiyi beside her.

Bai Yiyi’s eyes flickered but she said nothing.

Wen Ran pressed the answer button, her voice softly flowing out: “Mo Xiuchen, do you have the results?”

“Hmm, we now know who leaked the information. Additionally, that junior reporter will publish an apology tomorrow, clarifying her fabricated story from today.”

Mo Xiuchen’s voice came through the phone, low and charismatic.

A look of happiness crossed Wen Ran’s face, “Mo Xiuchen, who was the one who leaked the information? And how about my brother, is he returning to the hospital, or is he coming to see Yiyi and Tongtong?”

“Ah Kai has gone back to the hospital to deal with matters. The leaker was one of his former interns, someone called Wei Jingshan.”

“Ah, an intern mentored by my brother?” Wen Ran exclaimed in astonishment, opening her eyes wide.

Bai Yiyi next to her turned her head, her eyes filled with surprise as she looked at Wen Ran.

Mo Xiuchen laughed on the phone, his laughter deep and resonant: “Hmm, Ah Kai just assigned her to another doctor yesterday, and today she’s already leaked the story. Tell Bai Yiyi not to worry about it; Ah Kai will handle the situation.”

“What about Tongtong’s background, will it still be made public?”

“It should be, but Ah Kai is handling Wei Jingshan first. If there are any last-minute decisions, he’ll call Bai Yiyi.”

Mo Xiuchen and Gu Kai were actually still in the parking lot, not yet departed.

Gu Kai was standing beside him as he made the call.

“Alright, I’ll tell Yiyi,” Wen Ran responded.

“I’ll first handle the official business. Call me if there’s anything,” Mo Xiuchen’s voice softened further.

“I know, goodbye,” Wen Ran said, her voice laced with a gentle smile, then promptly hung up.

Turning to Bai Yiyi, who was looking at her, Wen Ran said, “Mo Xiuchen told me that the person who leaked the information about you and my brother was one of his interns. Yiyi, do you know this person?”

Wen Ran hadn’t spent much time at the hospital lately and only heard about her brother mentoring interns.

Bai Yiyi nodded, recalling Wei Jingshan, and a mocking smile involuntarily crept onto her lips, “I’ve seen her a few times. It’s quite consistent with her style — pushing me into the spotlight only to reap the benefits from the sidelines.”
