Chapter 1255: 1254 Admirers of him
“Actually, the number of people who know about my relationship with your brother is neither large nor small.”
Bai Yiyi turned a page for Tongtong and then looked up at Wen Ran.
Wen Ran’s brow furrowed lightly as she pondered and said, “That’s true, people at the hospital know more. After all, Tongtong stayed in the hospital before, and when I was giving birth, you came to take care of me for so many days.”
“No matter who that person is, I just feel that she must dislike me and be infatuated with your brother.”
Bai Yiyi hesitated for a moment before voicing her own opinion.
“Why?”
Wen Ran had thought the same thing.
The other party called Bai Yiyi a homewrecker, and just from that, it should be targeted at her. But what good would it do to target her? There are two possibilities; one is that Bai Yiyi offended someone.
The other possibility is that the person saw Bai Yiyi and Gu Kai getting too close, and just happened to know that last time Fang Zhiwei had told the media reporters that she and Gu Kai had broken up. At the time, reporters asked if there was a third party involved in their breakup.
Only then did they disclose the information to the media after so much time had passed.
“It’s simple, I’ve been quite close to your brother recently. Although there’s nothing between us, to outsiders, it must seem like we’re quite close.”
A self-deprecating smile surfaced on Bai Yiyi’s face, “The other side says I’m the third party, and as such, I’ve become everyone’s target, like a rat crossing the street, and she then has the opportunity.”
“Yiyi, saying this, I do have an idea now to make that person reveal themselves.”
A sly glint flashed in Wen Ran’s eyes as she said cheerfully.
“What idea?”
Bai Yiyi was slightly taken aback and intently watched Wen Ran, wanting to know who would be so malicious as to place her in the most despised position of being the third party.
Wen Ran said with a smile, “This idea, if my brother and the others haven’t gotten the truth from that reporter’s mouth, could be worth a try.”
Bai Yiyi didn’t speak but gestured with her eyes for her to continue.
“Didn’t you just say you’ve become ‘a rat crossing the street’ and now that person has the opportunity? If the media interviews my brother at this time, do you think that person will step forward?”
Bai Yiyi’s eyes lit up, “Your mean, like what Fang Zhiwei did last time.”

9:30 a.m.
Mo Xiuchen and Gu Kai arrived at the coffee shop for the meeting they had scheduled with the editor-in-chief of the newspaper; the other party was already there.
Accompanying Chief Editor Cheng was a young girl who seemed to have been scolded; with her head hanging low, she sat listlessly beside Chief Editor Cheng.
When Mo Xiuchen and Gu Kai walked over, Chief Editor Cheng immediately stood up, eagerly extended a hand, and shook hands with them, “Mo General, Doctor Gu, good to see you.”
“Chief Editor Cheng, is this the reporter Wang Fuyi who writes news articles that are more exciting than romance novels?”
Mo Xiuchen’s narrow eyes swept over the young woman beside Chief Editor Cheng, a corner of his mouth hooking symbolically, his thinly veiled words carrying a semblance of mockery.
Wang Fuyi, who had been looking down, suddenly lifted her eyes to look at him upon hearing Mo Xiuchen’s words.
However, as she encountered Mo Xiuchen’s profound and piercing gaze, and felt the forceful aura emanating from him, her face couldn’t help but pale slightly, and her body stiffened for a moment.
“Wang Fuyi, hurry up and apologize to Doctor Gu.”
The smile on Chief Editor Cheng’s face was replaced with apology and embarrassment. Turning his head toward Wang Fuyi, he instructed her with a face full of severity and indignation.
Wang Fuyi bit her lip, looking at Chief Editor Cheng with some reluctance. Yielding to his domineering pressure, she finally turned to face Gu Kai, standing in front of her.
She said stiffly: “Doctor Gu, I’m sorry. I know I shouldn’t have published your photo without your permission.”
“If you hadn’t mentioned it, I wouldn’t have even noticed the issue with the photo, but you indeed violated my image rights. However, Miss Wang, don’t you think that beyond this point, there’s a bigger problem?”
Gu Kai’s expression darkened, his gaze on Wang Fuyi sharp and cold, “Without any evidence, based merely on a couple of photographs that explain nothing, you’ve branded someone as the other woman. Miss Wang, have you never once in your life had a meal with a member of the opposite sex?”
“I, Doctor Gu, are you and Miss Bai truly just friends?”
Next to them, Mo Xiuchen pulled out a chair to sit down, signaling for Gu Kai to do the same.
Gu Kai sat down, but Wang Fuyi didn’t dare to sit, still standing stiffly there.
“Miss Wang, if you’re unwilling to answer my question, I can immediately call my lawyer here.”
Gu Kai leaned back in his chair, his right hand resting on the edge of the table, his slightly curved fingers tapping on the table a few times, he asked coldly.
Upon hearing this, Wang Fuyi’s already somewhat pale complexion turned even whiter.
“Wang Fuyi, when Doctor Gu asks you a question, just answer truthfully. Where is all this coming from?” Chief Editor Cheng, seeing this young reporter daring to question Gu Kai, couldn’t help but give her a stern look.
Mo Xiuchen’s eyes, cold and detached, paused on Wang Fuyi for a few seconds. Seeing her fists clenched at her sides, her body tense, she was obviously nervous and somewhat intimidated.
He coldly curled his lips and said in a light tone, “Reporter Wang just joined work not long ago, right? You seem to lack the professional ethic that media personnel should possess. According to your logic, if Chief Editor Cheng’s wife were to rush here now, shouldn’t she slap you twice for trying to seduce Chief Editor Cheng?”
“I didn’t.”
Wang Fuyi’s face changed drastically.
She didn’t know how it had come to this.
While saying this, she also turned her head to glance at Chief Editor Cheng, her eyes carrying a hint of guilt.
This subtle change in expression did not escape the watchful eyes of Mo Xiuchen and Gu Kai. Gu Kai turned to look at Mo Xiuchen, who was also looking his way.
The two exchanged glances, Gu Kai’s eyes sweeping across Chief Editor Cheng, who had just picked up his coffee to drink. Seeing Wang Fuyi, his gaze inadvertently took on an added sharpness as he pulled out his phone and pointed it at Wang Fuyi, snapping two photos.
“Doctor Gu, this really shouldn’t be done.”
Seeing Gu Kai taking photos, Chief Editor Cheng quickly put down the coffee in his hand, his eyes looking at Gu Kai with panicked confusion.
“Chief Editor Cheng, I haven’t done anything. I’m just showing you that the photos in the newspaper and the ones I’m taking now are no different.”
“Reporter Wang’s article must have been reviewed by you, Chief Editor Cheng. By that token, does it not indicate that Chief Editor Cheng agrees with Reporter Wang’s fabrication?”
Next to him, Mo Xiuchen harmonized with Gu Kai.
“What if I were to upload these two photos online and have someone with a good literary flair concoct a story? Reporter Wang, tell me, would Chief Editor Cheng’s wife ruin your pretty face?”
After Mo Xiuchen finished speaking, his lips curved into a cold arc, Wang Fuyi shivered, her face growing even paler.
Chief Editor Cheng, getting anxious, stood up, gesturing with his hands, “Mo General, Doctor Gu, let’s talk this over nicely. This is no joking matter. If my wife finds out, I’m the one who will be disfigured.”
