Chapter 112: Chapter 112 Revisiting the Past (2)
"What do you want to eat?" Having won the court case, Mi Wan was already in a good mood and, considering that he had helped her out, she was more than happy to treat him to a meal.
"I want to kiss you, is that okay?" Ji Dongquan suddenly smiled, looking at Mi Wan, raised his handsome eyebrows and said somewhat frivolously.
She knew he couldn’t say anything serious!
Mi Wan was exasperated. She glared at Ji Dongquan’s annoying smile and said, "In broad daylight, is this all you think about?"
"Ever since I was abandoned by a heartless woman, it’s been over eleven years without a woman," he said casually and whimsically. Suddenly, Ji Dongquan leaned in close to Mi Wan’s ear, his voice deliberately softened and slowed, teasing Mi Wan without any disguise, "Tell me, if I don’t think about these things, would that be normal?"
As Ji Dongquan moved closer, his familiar male scent washed over her. Suddenly, Mi Wan’s nerves tightened, and she instinctively moved slightly to the side, putting some distance between them. Then, Mi Wan raised a teasing smile and softly mocked, "Thinking about women doesn’t prove you’re normal. After all this time, could it be that you..."
While speaking, Mi Wan intentionally paused, casually glanced at Ji Dongquan, deliberately showing a look of mixed suspicion and slight pity.
Instantly, the smile on Ji Dongquan’s face vanished rapidly, his brows and eyes darkened, his lips pressed into a thin line. However, when he caught a glimpse of Mi Wan trying to suppress her laughter, his displeasure dissipated immediately, replaced by a mischievous smile. "Wanwan, looks might be deceiving. How about you feel for yourself?"
As he said this, Ji Dongquan’s eyes were completely fixed on Mi Wan. His sweet yet roguish tone almost made her break out in goosebumps.
"Not a chance!"
Throwing out this sentence, Mi Wan turned her face away, quite ungraciously, and looked out the window, offering Ji Dongquan the back of her head.
Because she had to appear in court today, Mi Wan had tied her long hair up into a neat bun at the back of her head. Without her long hair to cover it, even when she turned her side to Ji Dongquan, he could see her ears reddening.
"You’re embarrassed?" Ji Dongquan shifted his position, sitting close to Mi Wan, his arm touching her back, and he smiled as he spoke.
"Ji Dongquan, can’t we talk about something else?" Mi Wan couldn’t hold it in any longer; if she didn’t shut him up now, he would certainly say more things to make her blush.
"I don’t want to talk about anything else right now." With that, Ji Dongquan tightly embraced Mi Wan, beginning to act more impudent.
"Bastard!" Mi Wan, furious, wanted to use force and give him a harsh squeeze, but despite her intention, she couldn’t bring herself to do it. She fumed and said, "Tell the driver to stop the car, I want to get off!"
"Are you angry?" Ji Dongquan lifted his head, his eyes flashing a cunning light as he looked at Mi Wan, intentionally asking what he already knew.
Hearing him ask so casually, Mi Wan was almost ready to spit blood out of anger. Was she not making herself clear enough?
"Tell me, what will it take for you to let go!" Mi Wan knew Ji Dongquan well; without offering him a little incentive, he wouldn’t listen to her.
"Marry me."
"No way, pick something else."
"Can’t think of anything else right now."
"Then never show up in front of me again."
Mi Wan was genuinely infuriated, angrily throwing out harsh words, looking utterly stunning as she did so. Ji Dongquan, tightening his natural embrace, greeted her lips with a loud kiss, then, with a touch of grievance, said, "Wanwan, what’s so wrong with me for you to despise me this much?"
"Ji Dongquan, how did you become even more nagging than the market ladies?" Mi Wan said impatiently.
Nagging?
Ji Dongquan felt a wave of frustration in his heart; he’d gone out of his way to put aside all pride to please her, yet this heartless woman didn’t just remain ungrateful but even found him nagging?
"Tell me something nice, or else we’ll be stuck like this," Ji Dongquan stated domineeringly.
Scoundrel!
Mi Wan glared at him and internally cursed! Furious, she tightened her grip slightly, forcing out a cold smile, "Then we’ll be stuck like this!"
Angry, Mi Wan gritted her teeth, realizing Ji Dongquan refused to budge no matter what. She finally gave up on resisting and pressed her full weight against Ji Dongquan. Resting her chin on his shoulder, she closed her eyes to rest, clearly determined to wait him out.
For a long time, the car ride remained silent. No conversation was heard. At some point, the two kissed, a kiss that intoxicated both their hearts. When it ended, they continued to hold each other tightly, as if reminiscing about the moment’s sweetness, or perhaps savoring it. For a long while, neither spoke.
The car drove aimlessly, not knowing where to head without Ji Dongquan’s instructions. The driver, therefore, followed the most traffic-free road he could find.
"Baby, where do you want to eat?"
"I’m treating today, you decide," Mi Wan, somewhat reluctant to leave his embrace, didn’t push him away. Resting her head on his chest, she listened to his heartbeat as she spoke.
Seeing the rare docile Mi Wan, Ji Dongquan’s heart overflowed with tenderness. He wanted to revisit all the places they had been together in the past, so from today, he planned to bring her to each spot whenever he had time, reliving their joyful moments together.
"Let’s go to the food street in Old Town."
Ji Dongquan opened the divider between the front and back seats and ordered the driver expressionlessly.
Mi Wan had seen Ji Dongquan’s serious, authoritative side before, but she was still not used to it. Compared to his rogue side, this authoritative version of him felt too drastic a change. The eleven-year gap between them meant her understanding of him stayed stuck in the past. She knew nothing of what he had been through these past years. There were many things she wanted to ask him, including his former fiancée and his mother, but the current atmosphere was clearly not suited for bringing them up...
The Food Street had been around for over twenty years. Despite rapid urbanization, it was never eliminated. However, compared to ten years ago, the buildings had all been renovated, and many people and things had changed. Some snacks Mi Wan once liked had disappeared, and some had lost their original flavor. Only the little snack shop at the street’s end, after twenty-odd years, continued to be run by the same couple, maintaining the same taste and warmth.
"Wan," seeing Mi Wan walk into the shop, the owner’s wife greeted her with a warm smile. Long-time regulars like Mi Wan were rare, and over time, their bond had become quite close, almost like friends.
"Wan, brought a friend today! What do you want to eat?" The owner, busy tidying up dishes, chimed in upon seeing Ji Dongquan following behind Mi Wan.
