Chapter 89 - 89 89 The Big Fish that Drives Piles

89: Chapter 89: The Big Fish that Drives Piles 89: Chapter 89: The Big Fish that Drives Piles “So by that logic, we can’t go to the opposite side?” Ma Boqiang suggested, pointing to the direction of the feeder across the way.

Opposite to where Liu Fengnian and his group had set up camp was the reservoir’s shed, the feeder machine was no longer in use, but it hadn’t been dismantled.

Liu Fengnian and his friends were essentially staring across the reservoir at the owner; yesterday when they had just arrived, they had seen the owner patrolling the reservoir area in his boat a few times during the day.

“We’re leaving this afternoon, what’s the point of going over there now?

It’s not worth it!” Liu Fengnian shook his head.

Yue Feng agreed with Liu Fengnian’s opinion.

The trip had been quite successful so far, having caught both large and small fish; it wouldn’t be wise to make a fuss over nothing.

“Since the fish aren’t biting, let’s replenish the bait and prepare lunch.

The weather today is similar to yesterday, so according to yesterday’s pattern, there should be a good bite this afternoon.

We might as well stay here!” Yue Feng proposed.

“I think that’s a solid plan!”

“Alright!

Let’s do it your way!”

No one objected, and Yue Feng got up from his fishing spot and went back to get the bait, topping off each spot with four or five jins of corn beans.

The fish in the reservoir were unpredictable, and nobody knew when they would bite, so they took turns keeping watch.

It was nearing noon now, and it was time for lunch.

Lunch was once again Liu Fengnian’s domain as head chef.

He casually scooped up a few crucian carp and took about a four-jin carp from the Fish Guard.

A pot of vinegar-braised crucian carp, a bowl of sweet and sour carp, plus ready-to-eat bagged peanuts, ham sausages, chicken feet, and the like made for another bountiful spread.

Having learned his lesson from eating and drinking too much the night before, Yue Feng only lightly indulged in a couple of canned beers at noon before calling it quits, then he lay down in the hammock under the tree to rest up and wait for the afternoon bite.

Before one o’clock, the call of a fish on the line came from the shore.

Yue Feng rolled out of bed and headed straight for his fishing spot with a clear target.

The fish were like commands; with larger fish beginning to bite, Yue Feng returned to his spot and cast out his two rods, one long and one short.

The situation was similar to the day before; starting just before two o’clock, large carp began to take the bait.

Both Liu Fengnian and Ma Boqiang managed to land one each, which made Yue Feng somewhat impatient.

Even the occasional big crucian carp no longer seemed as appealing to him.

While waiting for a bite, Yue Feng also casually checked the time, 1:40, and turned on his livestream.

With three hours of streaming per day, he had already used up half an hour today.

They would have to pack up and head home before evening; at this point, he could probably keep fishing until past four before hurrying back.

Yue Feng started the stream based on his time availability and the potential for a good fishing situation, but the moment he went live, he was stunned.

The number of people in the Fishing Livestream Room shot up to 1400+ instantly and was still skyrocketing.

What the heck!

What’s going on?

Seeming to realize something, Yue Feng quickly switched to his backend.

Fans were the most exaggerated, having jumped from over 14,000 to 32,000, and the number was still bouncing.

Yue Feng’s mind was completely boggled.

Could it be that the kiddo was up to something again?

But that shouldn’t be the case; she had his phone number and would have contacted him in advance if something was up.

“Uh, hey guys, this is Yue Feng.

What’s going on today?”

“Wow, the host finally started streaming!

You’ve gone viral!

An outdoor livestreaming category, and you’ve even been featured on the platform’s homepage!”

“Is this the actual scene of the reservoir that the little brother filmed?

It looks a bit like it, but it’s not as stunning as in the video!”

“How’s the fish bite?

Caught any big ones today?”

“Begging the host to share the location, I have to go check it out.

It’s too beautiful!”

After glancing at the comments in the livestream, Yue Feng finally understood why he had become popular.

The drone footage of the reservoir he uploaded this morning was pushed to the top trending, then featured prominently on the homepage!

Other than a portion of anglers, there were many pedestrians who came from the trending section in the Fishing Livestream Room.

It’s just like early in the morning at around four or five o’clock; there are dozens of people watching the stream, and nobody knows what kind of eccentric viewers are on the other side of the internet, what novel ideas they have.

The questions they come up with are all kinds of strange, not lacking in cunning angles.

“Hello everyone, this is Yue Feng’s outdoor fishing livestream room, and I am your friend, Yue Feng!

Today, we continue to fish at the Cliff Dam reservoir.

Those who like our content, feel free to hit the follow button!” No matter what, as long as they are living people, they are potential followers for Yue Feng.

As it turned out, not all viewers of the fishing livestream were there for the fishing.

Many fans liked the host’s looks, voice, or works, with equally diverse angles.

Over time, Yue Feng had become immune to a lot of this.

Just as Yue Feng was busy interacting with the newcomers in the livestream, he suddenly saw the chat flooding.

The float!

The float is gone!

Yue Feng looked up instinctively and sure enough, the 7.2-meter fishing rod’s float had been submerged!

Yue Feng gripped the rod and applied a gentle force, swoosh, he lifted the rod to set the hook.

The second after lifting the rod, Yue Feng felt a sinking feeling in his gut, something was off!

The hook had definitely caught onto something, there was no doubt about that, but it didn’t quite feel like a fish; the rod was bending heavily, but there was no response from underwater.

“Yue, got a fish?” Liu Fengnian, not too far away, saw Yue Feng lift the rod into a deep arc and asked with concern.

“Doesn’t seem like it!

No reaction at all!” Yue Feng replied.

“Did it snag on the bottom?” Wei Liang inquired.

“This area is quite flat, it shouldn’t snag on the bottom, right?” Wang Dong also put down his rod and walked over while speaking.

By the time a few of them gathered around, Yue Feng was still tightly holding the rod without letting go.

“What’s happening?”

Yue Feng answered, “I was just chatting with the guys in the livestream, and suddenly I saw them flooding the chat with ‘black float,’ I took a look and didn’t see the float, so I lifted the rod, and ended up hooking onto something, but I can’t lift the rod!”

“Could it be a big fish snagging itself?

Tap on the rod first to try!” Liu Fengnian suggested.

Big fish snagging, a common scenario in reservoir fishing, is when the larger fish, which tend to be smarter than the smaller ones, bury themselves in the mud and refuse to move after swallowing the bait and getting hooked.

This behavior is known as snagging.

Some anglers, due to lack of experience, would blindly pull hard on the rod or, in a bid to rid themselves of a “snag,” deliberately level the rod to attempt to cut the line and protect the main line and float.

Doing so could miss the chance to catch a large fish.

The appropriate approach should be as Liu Fengnian said, first to bow the rod and tap on it.

Tapping the rod sends vibrations through the tip and the mainline, eventually reaching the wound in the fish’s mouth.

If it’s a big fish that’s snagged, the pain might cause it to move, and then it would be possible to play the fish normally.

Following Liu Fengnian’s advice, Yue Feng rhythmically tapped the rod for a while and indeed, the fish underwater started to move.
