Chapter 267: Is He Yours?

"She touched me," admitted Cheng Bo Jing, lowering his head. He should have stopped her. He knew how he would react if some random man had touched his woman. Wang Tian Mu’s reaction should be no less.

"I see," nodded his Little Rabbit as she walked toward the woman and stared down at her body. She wrinkled her nose at the smell of the woman’s bowels being released in death but otherwise didn’t do anything else. "And him?" she asked, pointing to the guy screaming soundlessly on the floor as more and more boils of puss and flesh continued to pop.

"He tried to kill me," started Cheng Bo Jing, pausing only for a moment before continuing on. "And I wanted to see just how far I could push my powers."

"I see," nodded Wang Tian Mu before turning her attention back to the woman. "Sorry for the late introduction, my name is Doctor Wang Tian Mu, and you are?"

The woman looked back and forth between Cheng Bo Jing and Wang Tian Mu as if looking for the catch. "I’m Wei Li Qin," announced the leader, reaching forward to shake Wang Tian Mu’s hand. But the other woman simply shook her head.

"Sorry," she said, clasping her hands across her stomach as if to make sure that no part of her would touch Wei Li Qin. "I don’t like touching other people. And as you can see, my men take offense to it as well."

Wang Tian Mu gestured to the woman as if to prove her point before Bai Long Qiang interjected, entering into the conversation. "Wei Li Qin?" he asked as if he had heard that name before.

Cheng Bo Jing watched his Little Rabbit’s eyes narrow at the man’s question and cringed. Even he knew that it was a stupid thing to ask.

"What about it?" asked the woman, lifting her chin up and glaring at Bai Long Qiang as he went to stand beside Wang Tian Mu.

"Any relation to Wei Xiao Li?" he continued, blinking innocently.

"You know Wei Xiao Li?" gasped the woman, looking around as if hoping that the other man would appear out of thin air. "He’s my brother. I thought he was down in City H when everything happened. I can’t believe he is alive."

"Wait... I never said that he was. I just asked if you knew the man," replied Bai Long Qiang, holding up his hands to show his innocence.

"What?!? He’s dead?" murmured the woman, and another one helped her to sit down in front of the fire.

"Yep, died earlier today, in fact," smiled Bai Long Qiang. "Did you want me to try to bury you beside him?"

"I didn’t leave a body to be buried," interjected yet another man as he clasped Bai Long Qiang on the shoulder. "So that won’t work."

"Oh... right. Forgot about that. I was just impressed that the two were related. I mean, what are the odds?" shrugged Bai Long Qiang, stepping back until he was shoulder to shoulder with Liu Hao Yu. "My bad."

"About 100% since it happened," deadpanned Fan Teng Fei, rolling his eyes as he went to kick the man, still screaming. "For fucks sake. Can’t you shut him up?"

Cheng Bo Jing looked at Wang Tian Lu for judgment on what he should do. They all knew that she could save him if she wanted.

Instead, she simply smiled at Cheng Bo Jing. "It would be more merciful to put him out of his misery than make him continue with this level of pain," she said gently, placing a hand on his forearm. He nodded and snapped his fingers, letting the poison in the man’s system finish him off.

Wei Li Qin was still in shock after hearing about her brother’s death. She had assumed that he had died at the beginning of the apocalypse and mourned him for almost a year before she realized that no one was coming for her.

Not her brother, not her family, and not even the Red Dragon Syndicate. If she wanted to live in this new world, she was going to have to be stronger and do whatever it took to be on top.

"Being stronger doesn’t mean being okay with killing people," interjected Ye Yao Zu, coming up from behind the group of men with the little boy in his arms. "Being stronger means knowing what your bottom line is and not going past it. Being stronger means to get back up every time you get knocked down. Being stronger means showing kindness and compassion when the situation warrants it and not picking the easier path just because it is easier."

"Yes, Father," smirked the woman, rebuilding the walls around her heart that crumbled when she learned that her brother had been alive all this time. That man made it that much worse, giving her hope only to ruthlessly take it away from her. "But, like I said. It is easy to stand on a pedestal looking down on everyone. But there will come a time when the harshness of reality smacks you across the face, and you are forced to eat your words."

"Father?" asked Wang Tian Mu, turning to where Ye Yao Zu was standing with a child that she had never seen before. She blinked rapidly for a few seconds before looking at Cheng Bo Jing for an explanation.

"I’ll explain later," he assured her, not wanting to get into it all with a hostile audience present.

"Okay," she nodded. "As long as it wasn’t some sort of Daddy kink that I didn’t know about. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Whatever floats your boat and all that...." She rushed through her explanation, her face turning bright red as she refused to look at anyone.

"Is he his?" she continued in a low voice.

"No!!!" yelled both Cheng Bo Jing and Ye Yao Zu, startling both the child and Wang Tian Mu.

"No," replied Cheng Bo Jing, taking the boy from Ye Yao Zu and looking at his woman.

"Is he yours?" she asked, giving him a side look as if she didn’t see it coming. And given the child’s age, he would have had to have an affair right at the start of the apocalypse, and there was no time for that. Not when he was fighting tooth and nail to get back to her.
