Chapter 266: She Did Nothing
Chapter 266: She Did Nothing
Don’t get him wrong; there was never an excuse for domestic abuse of any kind in his books. A man who couldn’t control his temper and struck someone physically and mentally weaker than them, male or female, deserved a bullet to the head.
But this wasn’t the same. Cheng Bo Jing knew without a doubt that if he turned his back on any person in this storeroom, he was risking death.
And that would upset Wang Tian Mu.
A quick, powerful jerk of his wrist and he snapped the woman’s neck, letting her fall limply to the floor.
"So, just because I have standards and morals, I am standing on a pedestal? Is that what you are saying?" he asked, strolling toward the woman in charge of the entire group.
Whoever thought that women were the weaker species knew jack shit about the real world. Females of any species were the deadliest. Worst than a snake hiding in the grass, ready to strike if you went too close, a woman was always thinking of a way to come out on top of any situation.
At least the snake couldn’t change its instinctual behavior.
No, Cheng Bo Jing didn’t have pity for any of the people inside of this room.
There was a small part of him that screamed that the children were innocent. That they couldn’t fully understand or participate in what the adults were doing. But he also knew that children could be the most cruel, especially to each other.
There was a reason why the boy believed that his name was Food, and it wasn’t only because of the witch in front of him.
"Do you think that we are just going to let you kill us and not do something about it?" smirked the woman, cocking her head to the side as someone cocked their gun. The clicking sound of the gun came from right behind him, and he could feel the cold metal pressing against the back of his neck.
"You are more than welcome to try," he replied with a shrug as the metal in the gun seeped into his skin. In less than a second, he had a new tattoo on his neck, and gunpowder from the bullet drifted harmlessly down to the ground. "But I don’t have to really do anything. You were dead the moment you pointed a gun at me and my friend. You just didn’t know it."
"What are you talking about?" asked the man with no hair and no teeth, looking around the fire at the other men. "We are fine."
"Of course you are," nodded Cheng Bo Jing in agreement.
"Toxic power user," whispered the woman, and for the first time since she walked out of that aisle with her hands up, she looked... scared.
"Ah, you have heard of us," smiled Cheng Bo Jing. "Then you know we don’t have to touch you; we don’t have to slip something in your food or drink or do anything along those lines. Hell, we don’t even have to be near you to kill you."
The man behind him, realizing that his gun was utterly useless, reached around and wrapped his forearm against Cheng Bo Jing’s neck, putting him into a full headlock.
But the man still didn’t do anything. In fact, his smile only got bigger, a look of pure pleasure on his face as if he was finally getting the freedom he always wanted to have.
And he was.
He never wanted to show Wang Tian Mu this part of him, but since there wasn’t anyone in this room who could go rat him out, he was free to let his powers go. To see what he could accomplish before being drained dry.
Gently placing the tip of his first two fingers against the bare skin of the man’s wrist, Cheng Bo Jing let his powers flow.
The woman and his Little Rabbit seemed to think that the rain they experienced a few days ago would increase their powers, but he hadn’t felt anything like that.
In fact, it seemed like he had nothing but a bottomless well deep inside of him that, no matter what he did, he couldn’t fill up.
He didn’t know if this meant that he was weak, or at least weaker than he was before the rain, but he was determined to find out.
It took less than a second before the man behind him started screaming in pain. He tried to get away from Cheng Bo Jing, but the other man wasn’t having anything of it. Getting a better grip on the man trying to kill him, he continued to feed his power into him.
"Please," the man begged, falling to his knees as the flesh under Cheng Bo Jing’s hand started to rot away, boils of puss exploding as soon as something brushed against them...
Even if it was only the air.
"Please, save me," continued the man, begging for his life. But he should have thought about that before he chose to attack Cheng Bo Jing.
"My woman is fond of saying, ’To be kind to your enemy is to be harsh on yourself.’ Now, the woman is an absolute saint and always tries her best to save everyone around her, whether they deserve it or not, but even she has a bottom line," replied Cheng Bo Jing as everyone in the room stared at both men with fear.
"And you think that she would be proud of you right now?" sneered the woman, taking a step back until the campfire separated the two of them.
"Why wouldn’t I?" came a female voice as the double doors swung open, letting in a bright stream of light.
Everyone turned from the dying man to the woman strolling into the storeroom as if she owned the place.
Men streamed in behind her before spreading out so that the group of 25 survivors was completely surrounded.
"He snapped a woman’s neck," interjected the bald man, pointing to the dead woman on the floor. "And did God only knows what to Chen Peng Fei."
"I see," nodded Wang Tian Mu, a serious look on her face as she approached Cheng Bo Jing, not in the least bit scared of the man. "And what did they do to you?" she asked him, only to be cut off by the leader.
"She did nothing," hissed the woman. "She did absolutely nothing."
