Chapter 261: No Idea

Ye Yao Zu looked up at Cheng Bo Jing to see if he was seeing the same thing that he was.

When Cheng Bo Jing nodded his head, he returned his attention back to the person in front of him.

A soft voice didn’t mean much to them. Si Dong could speak like a child when he wanted to, and the rest of the team learned that stuff like that wasn’t a good way to predict what a person actually looked like.

And while he was expecting an average to small man, what he was faced with was completely different.

The woman was absolutely tiny, even smaller than Wang Tian Mu after they had gotten her out of Camp Hell.

The woman’s skin was pulled over, nothing but bones, her body using whatever muscles she might have had before the end of the world as fuel when she wasn’t able to eat enough.

She was what his Little Fox would have looked like, and that alone had him sympathizing with her. "Don’t worry," he murmured, lowering his gun as he held out his hands to show that he wasn’t a threat. "I’m not going to hurt you. Are you here alone or are there others with you?"

"There are others with her, Doc," grunted Cheng Bo Jing as the sound of a gun cocking cut through the air.

Ye Yao Zu looked up only to see three massive men surrounding Cheng Bo Jing, each one of them with a sawed off shotgun.

And each one of them pointed at Cheng Bo Jing.

"What now, Doc? I’m open to suggestions," growled the man, clearly not impressed at his vulnerable state.

But Ye Yao Zu was more than aware that Cheng Bo Jing was never vulnerable.

"No idea," shrugged Ye Yao Zu, playing along with his friend. "But as far as I can see, you are the only one with guns pointed at you. I could just leave you with them and walk out of here."

"I think not," grunted a new voice, and the feeling of a gun being pressed against his head caused Ye Yao Zu to freeze.

He probed the other man’s mind, only to be met with a brick wall. Was everyone a fucking spirit user nowadays? He was getting sick and tired of it. Seriously! What use was his power if every other person was able to block it?!?

Letting out a long sigh, he looked up at Cheng Bo Jing. "Fucking spirit user," he grunted, shrugging his shoulders. "What can you do?"

"See, this is why I told the others we should just leave you. But oh no... you convinced them that you would be helpful," grumbled Cheng Bo Jing, looking over his shoulder at the three men behind him. "Spirit users always think that they are more important than any other power user. Am I right?!?"

"You’re a jackass. Has anyone ever told you that?" hissed Ye Yao Zu, lunging forward to get to Cheng Bo Jing, only to be held back by a hand on his arm.

"Now, now, he might be a jackass, but meat’s meat. And this store has some of the best spices to get rid of the gamey taste," smiled the man over Ye Yao Zu’s shoulder.

His head reflected the sunlight streaming in through a sunroof Ye Yao Zu hadn’t noticed before, and he was missing more than a few teeth. In fact, Ye Yao Zu was pretty sure he would have to cook his meat into mush before he could eat any of it.

"There’s a spice to get rid of the gamey taste?" asked Ye Yao Zu, intrigued. "Which one?"

The man reached over into the aisle beside them and pulled out a bottle of ’Montreal Steak Seasoning.’ "This with enough alcohol, and you won’t even know you’re eating your friend."

Ye Yao Zu’s lip quirked a bit in disgust. "Ugh, I’m not eating him. God only knows what diseases he has in him. Between you and I, I wouldn’t be surprised if he has mad cow disease or something."

"Oh shut up," growled the woman, no longer sounding quite so cute and soft. "Get him down here and bring both of them to the back. Daddy is going to want to see them."

Ye Yao Zu blinked at the transformation undergoing in front of his eyes. The sickly, stick thin woman that had come out of the aisle was nowhere to be seen. Instead, the woman was absolutely stunning with long, lush black hair, a perfect body, and impeccable makeup.

She was also a dead woman. But Ye Yao Zu wasn’t going to mention that out loud.

Who knew that they would get such a treasure trove of information from City B? One power user can control time, and this one seems to be able to control her body.

"Trust me when I say that you would much rather be eaten alive than mess with her," whispered one of the men in Ye Yao Zu’s ear before he was pushed forward.

Huh, it seemed that there was dissension in the gardens of Eden. Maybe not everyone should die.

Awe, who was he kidding? From the look on Cheng Bo Jing’s face, everyone was already slowly dying and they had no idea.

He would have a toxic power user watching his back any day over a whoshapeshifter. Especially a toxic power user that hates anything putting him behind schedule.

And right now, the two of them were behind schedule.

----

"I’m sorry," I said, coming down the stairs after an absolutely amazing nap. "Could you repeat that?" I cocked my head to the side and studied the living room full of men in front of me.

"Ah, Sleeping Beauty is awake!" grunted Jia Yu Sheng from where he stood over by the window. "We were wondering how long we were going to have to wait before you appeared. Apparently, no one here wanted to wake you up."

"Probably because they are kind and considerate," I replied, not caring about the leader of Vengeance, or his opinion of me. That wasn’t what caught my attention.

"Did you say that there was no one to meet you?" I continued, turning my attention to Chang Guo Zi.

I continued walking forward, a path separating for me until I was able to get to the empty couch in front of me. It was nice that they had all left it for me."

"Correct," answered Chang Guo Zi as he studied everyone’s reaction to me entering the room. The shrewd man was already figuring out all the new dynamics around him.
