Chapter 179: Wu Bai Hee

"What do you want?" snarled Bin An Sha as he ripped open the door and glared at the couple in front of him.

"I am so sorry," simpered the woman, looking up at him from below lowered lashes. "I didn’t want to bother you, but I knew you had company, so I brought you some food," she continued, holding up the covered dish in front of her like it was a peace offering.

"You know, she didn’t have to do this. You and your... company could starve for all that I cared," sneered the man, putting a protective arm around the woman and bringing her closer to his side.

She was obviously pregnant, an uncommon state now in City A. Instead of people looking at her weirdly for being pregnant out of wedlock, people were worshiping the very ground she walked on.

She was the Saint of City A, a woman without power but one so kind and virtuous that everyone looked up to her.

"What can I do for you, Princess?" asked Bin An Sha, rolling his eyes. She was not worth his time or energy, and the fact that she had everyone else fooled made things even worse.

Yeah, it wasn’t that she didn’t have power; it was only that she refused to admit to it.

It was so much easier to manipulate people when they didn’t know they were being manipulated.

"Please, don’t call me that; I am not worthy of the title," she replied, hunching her shoulders a bit as she hid her face in the man’s chest.

"If anyone is worthy of the title, it is you, My Love," replied the man, still glaring at the man.

Bin An Sha had held out hope that he would have realized just what she was doing, and for a while, it seemed like he did. But now he was back to being so firmly under her spell he didn’t stand a chance.

Her hold on him weakened once; there was no way she was willing to have that happen again.

"I repeat, what do you want?" demanded Bin An Sha. He was about ready to slam the door in their faces. She clearly wasn’t in pain; she didn’t need a doctor or healer, and no one could fix her personality, not even him.

"I wanted to give you food and meet everyone," smiled the woman, now trying to look around him and into his house.

"Fine. But you can keep the food. It would be better than having it go to waste," grumbled Bin An Sha as he opened the door wide. Turning around, he looked at Rip for a second before moving his eyes to the hallway.

Rip nodded his head silently, got off the couch, and disappeared into the master bedroom.

"Hello," introduced the woman as she walked in behind Bin An Sha. Bowing slightly, she looked around the room. "My name is Wu Bai Hee. Here, I have made you some lunch," she continued, holding out the covered casserole dish.

Bai Long Qiang sat up from where he was sleeping on the smaller couch and ran his fingers through his hair. Like the rest of the guys, he was only wearing a pair of sweatpants, the outfit of choice in the post-apocalyptic world.

Let’s face it, no one wanted to sleep in metal studded leather anything.

"What do you want?" he groaned, rolling his eyes. None of them had been having the greatest of sleep for the past few years, and now that they were in a safe location, he was planning on catching up on every minute that he missed.

"I’m so sorry to disturb you; I’m Wu Bai Hee," said the woman as she headed toward the kitchen area like she owned the house. Bai Long Qiang raised an eyebrow at Bin An Sha, the smirk on his face saying more than words ever could.

"At least you know you were disturbing us," grunted Si Dong, not bothering to move from his place on the floor. Last night was the first night that Wang Tian Mu hadn’t screamed, and everyone was sleeping for as long as possible.

"Who are you?" snapped the man as he looked around the room at all the men present. They were not as grateful to his woman as they should have been, and that was rubbing him the wrong way. Everyone knew to bow to her... they must be newcomers.

"Bai Long Qiang," replied Bai Long Qiang slowly as if he expected his name to mean something.

"That means nothing to me," sneered the man as Wu Bai Hee walked over to him. Pulling her closer to his side, he wrapped his arm around her waist.

"Ah, a scholar then," smiled Cheng Bo Jing as he, too, sat up and moved toward the kitchen. He lifted the lid of the casserole container and took a sniff of the food. "I’m sorry."

"You know, manners dictate that if you want to know our names, you introduce yourself first," smiled Si Dong as he rolled over to get a good look at the man and woman.

"Have you gotten the mandatory introduction to the city? You should have received it before you even stepped one foot in here," answered the man.

"They arrived with Wang Chao, Liu Wei, and Li Dai Lu," smiled Bin An Sha, getting himself comfortable. Unfortunately, with how Wu Bai Hee was staring at everyone’s chest, no one would be comfortable until she left.

The man’s face turned darker if that was possible, and he turned his attention back to Bai Long Qiang. "Military then, I assume," he sneered, like being part of the military was only a step away from being trash on the streets.

"Yes," smiled Bai Long Qiang. "But that’s fine; I know not everyone is cut out to serve their country and protect its people. We still need people like... I’m sorry, who are you, and what do you do?"

"I am Zhou Jun Jie, and I am the one who runs the City A sanctuary," replied the man, raising his chin and looking down at the other.

"Of course, we need people like you in the world, too, I’m sure," continued Bai Long Qiang with a tilt of his head. He waved his hand in the air as if it didn’t matter, and to him, it didn’t. Scholars and military hadn’t gotten along since the beginning... the fact that the world had ended wasn’t going to change that.
