Chapter 151: Who Do You Belong To?
Chapter 151: Who Do You Belong To?
Si Dong stiffened at the mountain man’s question. Not once had he ever considered that he belonged to Bai Long Qiang. Even if he was the team leader, he didn’t belong to him.
There was only one person he had ever considered belonging to, but....
"I am," said Si Dong, even though the words got stuck a bit in his throat. "And just how do you know that name?"
But that didn’t matter. Fan Teng Fei was still out there in the stands; it was his turn to be a VIP tonight, and if shit went down, he needed to be rescued.
Si Dong quickly went to the open door of the cage, ready to bolt out.
The man, the leader of the four, simply raised an eyebrow and studied him. "Get back in your cage," he growled. "Any human in their cage will be spared. Those that are not will be killed."
Si Dong shook his head. Fan Teng Fei was one of his best friends, and he would not let him face whatever was coming by himself.
"We have an inside man in the VIP area." Everything inside of him was setting off warning bells, telling him not to fuck with those men. And he always listened to his gut...
Until he couldn’t.
Using one last resource, he tried to delve into the leader’s mind to find out what was going on. Maybe, just maybe, he could convince the man to not do anything until Fan Teng Fei was back with his team.
"Then you might want to lock him in with you. And fast. Our Queen has given us a command. We dare not disobey." His eyes flashed bright red. Si Dong was startled. The man was clearly not human, but what was he then? "And you will do well to stay out of my head. You won’t like what you find in it."
Si Dong didn’t waste any more time. He darted out of his cage and went straight toward the pit.
"Qu Kuan Ji!" he yelled, searching through the crowds. He didn’t dare call out his real name, just in case they needed to maintain their cover after everything went to pot. "Qu Kuan Ji!"
"What?" asked Fan Teng Fei as he saw Si Dong trying to get to him. He wasn’t supposed to be in this area. If Alpha caught him, it would be death for both.
"Hurry up!" grunted Si Dong. Everyone was still milling about the stands as if nothing was going on. They had only a small window of opportunity to get back to the cages, and he didn’t want to deal with a stampeding crowd.
"Si Dong," grunted Fan Teng Fei as he finally caught up to the other man. "What the fuck is going on?" Si Dong was smart enough to not screw around and jeopardize a mission, so what was he doing?
"No time to explain. Hurry up, we have to get going," grunted Si Dong as he grabbed Fan Teng Fei’s arm and started pulling him away from the stands and toward the fighter’s area.
However, just as they got cleared, chaos erupted. The screams started in the crowds, and Si Dong paused for a single second to look around and see what was going on. One of the men stood up and turned around, frantically looking for an exit.
His scream was like nothing Si Dong had ever heard before. The sheer terror and pain mixed in with the sound caused goosebumps to break out over his arms.
His face started to bubble like there was something under it trying to get out. But instead of the bubbles bursting, it was like it was just creating a separation between muscle and bone. His skin started at his forehead and seemed to melt down his face.
Si Dong watched in horrific fascination as the VIP tried to collect the almost liquid skin and put it back where it was.
However, his screams were abruptly cut off when his tongue fell out of his mouth, and his lips followed quickly after.
"Huh, I never knew someone’s tongue was that long," murmured Fan Teng Fei, his head cocked to the side as he watched the same things that Si Dong was.
But instead of feeling scared or disgusted, Fan Teng Fei was absolutely fascinated. It was like a vat of hydrofluoric acid, but it was so precise.
What on earth could have caused something like that? And how did he get his hands on it?
Si Dong and Fan Teng Fei were about to continue their race to the cage now that the man’s screaming had stopped, but they were halted in their tracks by a man walking toward him.
He was cloaked in the shadows; the only thing easily visible were his pure white eyes that seemed to glow. "Are you two in the military?" asked the creature. Si Dong nodded and pulled Fan Teng Fei behind him. He had done this song and dance once before, and he knew that Fan Teng Fei wouldn’t admit to belonging to Bai Long Qiang.
"Who do you belong to?" the creature continued, asking the question that Si Dong had feared. However, he was surprised that Fan Teng Fei didn’t stiffen at the idea of belonging to someone.
"Bai Long Qiang," he admitted, taking in a deep breath. That name didn’t come out any easier than it had the first time.
"I don’t know that name. Is it on the list?"
Si Dong froze, no longer splitting his attention between the threat in front of him and the threat behind him. Fan Teng Fei was not happy to belong to Bai Long Qiang. That was for sure.
But if he didn’t know that name, how were they going to get back to the cages? Bai Long Qiang was supposed to be the secret code or something.
Fan Teng Fei, more than a little annoyed, stepped out from where Si Dong had shoved him behind him.
Being part of a family like his, he understood that people belonged to different things. He belonged to his family. Period. End of story.
He did not belong to a man child that couldn’t see what was right in front of his face. He did not belong to the military or even Country K.
He only belonged to one woman.
"We belong to the Healer," he said, his head up and chest out. He had never seen the Healer, but Si Dong had talked about her enough, and he had heard the rumors about her amongst the other VIPs. But most importantly, any time he heard something about her, he felt a deeper connection with a woman he had never met.
