Chapter 329: Chapter 329: Loving You is Support and Having Your Back

Cheng Siluo had enough of being overshadowed by Cheng Qiaobei in every way: her academic achievements were inferior, her career wasn’t as successful, and now even her husband had been sent to jail due to his interference. How could she ever break free from him?

Under the dual surge of jealousy and anger, Cheng Siluo’s eyes were bloodshot as she aggressively questioned:

"You’re the one whose brain is broken, siding with outsiders to scheme against your own family. Don’t think I don’t know about you and Chairman Yin, Chairman Lian plotting to carve up the company behind our backs."

She had finally found an outlet for her pent-up frustration.

"Do you really think Dad can’t handle you all?" Cheng Siluo sneered, her gaze filled with arrogant amusement, "Just wait and see. None of you will end up well."

Chairman Yin and Chairman Lian were merely using him. If Cheng Xiangheng couldn’t even see through that, all his years weathering the business world would have been for nothing.

Cheng Qiaobei felt no need to explain himself to her. He raised an eyebrow casually and said in a leisurely tone, "You’ve always clung to your arrogance but still can’t help bowing to reality. You resent being inferior to me, yet you can’t amount to my excellence. Since you’re saying we should wait and see, I’m eager to see who truly won’t come to a good end in the end."

His gaze carried hidden daggers, sending a chill down Cheng Siluo’s spine.

Cheng Qiaobei stepped closer to her, lowering his eyes as he warned, "Remember, if you step foot here again, I’ll have Sun Dongchen rot in prison."

Cheng Siluo was still defiant, "Who do you think you are?"

"Alright then." Cheng Qiaobei toyed with his phone, his expression dark and twisted, bordering on deranged, as he said, "There’s more than just a little dirt on him here. Want to see for yourself?"

Cheng Siluo clenched her lips, "..."

"Hmph." Cheng Qiaobei abruptly dropped his smile and asked coldly, "You dare try? Willing to gamble your husband’s future on it?"

Cheng Siluo didn’t dare. Her lashes quivered, and her previous strength vanished as she skirted around Cheng Qiaobei to leave.

He watched as Cheng Siluo got into her car. Before turning around, he heard Chen Ningxi’s voice behind him, "Qiaobei..."

When Cheng Qiaobei turned, the hostility was gone, replaced by a tender smile, his gaze filled with her, "Honey."

Chen Ningxi looked in the direction Cheng Siluo’s car had gone and stepped in front of Cheng Qiaobei, asking, "Was that your sister just now?"

The two had just met, so there was no point lying.

Cheng Qiaobei placed his arm around her shoulder and guided her toward the office. "Yes, it was her. Came to see you? Trying to get you to plead for mercy on behalf of Sun Dongchen?"

It wasn’t just a lucky guess; it was spot on.

Chen Ningxi nodded, "I didn’t agree."

Still, thinking about how they were siblings, Chen Ningxi felt the need to confess. "...I also... might’ve... added fuel to the fire with my words."

Cheng Qiaobei chuckled, clearly intrigued, "Tell me, how did you provoke her?"

Since he didn’t seem to care, Chen Ningxi asked, "I gave your sister a hard time; you’re really okay with it?"

Cheng Qiaobei laughed, "You’re standing up for me. Why would I mind? Don’t change the subject; tell me, how did you give her a hard time?"

Some things are said in the heat of the moment, but recalling them later can be too awkward to repeat.

"Don’t ask." Chen Ningxi pushed him, "Let’s talk at home. I’m tired now."

Cheng Qiaobei watched her retreating back, a subtle grin on his lips, and returned to his car.

When Chen Ningxi’s car left the office, Cheng Qiaobei’s car followed closely behind.

At home, no matter what Chen Ningxi was doing, Cheng Qiaobei was right at her heels helping, waiting for a chance to hear about her "battle" with Cheng Siluo.

Chen Ningxi noticed but avoided any eye contact with him. She kept this up until she went into the bathroom to take a shower. When she stepped out, he was waiting by the door.

Cheng Qiaobei stood with his hands in his pockets, leaning a shoulder against the wall and tilting his head to look at her face. "Honey, finished showering?"

Chen Ningxi averted her gaze, "Mm, you go ahead."

She walked over to her vanity and began her skincare routine, dragging it out deliberately.

Cheng Qiaobei stood behind her, placed his hands on her shoulders, and leaned down to whisper in her ear, "Honey, got time to talk now?"

Chen Ningxi tore open the packaging of a face mask. "I need to apply my mask first."

Cheng Qiaobei raised an eyebrow and nodded, "Alright, alright, you apply it. I’ll go shower."

He turned and walked off. "When you’re done, I’d like to see what excuse you come up with next."

After hearing the bathroom door close, Chen Ningxi finally turned to glance at it, letting out a quiet sigh. He truly was persistent. A man with a strong sense of curiosity wasn’t necessarily a good thing.

The reason Chen Ningxi felt so awkward was that what she did to Cheng Siluo wasn’t merely giving her a hard time—she even cursed her outright.

Sitting at her vanity, she replayed the entire conversation with Cheng Siluo in her mind. The more she thought about it, the more she realized there were moments she didn’t handle as well as she could’ve.

She hadn’t done her best?!

The thought annoyed her.

Looking up at the mirror, Chen Ningxi noticed the mask on her face had become crumpled along with her furrowed brows.

"Oh..." She quickly smoothed it out again.

Cheng Qiaobei showered quickly and came out heading straight to Chen Ningxi. "So, can we talk now?"

Chen Ningxi pointed to the mask on her face and waved him off, signaling she couldn’t speak.

"Alright, alright," Cheng Qiaobei shook his head, laughing. He leaned against the vanity, arms crossed, and said, "I’ll wait."

Chen Ningxi felt uncomfortable being stared at and pushed him, "Stop looking at me like that."

Cheng Qiaobei didn’t budge. "So I can’t even look at you?"

"No," Chen Ningxi replied, "It’s distracting me from my mask."

Cheng Qiaobei widened his eyes slightly, "Wow, you’re so unreasonable."

Chen Ningxi pushed him toward the bedroom. Cheng Qiaobei sprawled out on the bed, propped his head on one hand, and said, "...Fine, I’ll wait for you here."

On normal days, he was so tired that he immediately fell asleep after touching the pillow.

But when Chen Ningxi finished her mask and entered the bedroom, Cheng Qiaobei was still lying in the same position, smiling and patting the spot beside him. "Honey, on such a long, quiet night, why not tell me about your epic battle with Miss Cheng?"

Chen Ningxi lay down and pulled the covers over herself. "I’m tired. Let’s talk tomorrow."

Cheng Qiaobei nearly exploded. He wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her into his chest, flipping her beneath him, his dark eyes narrowing as he said:

"At the office, you said we’d talk at home. At home, you said after dinner. After dinner, you said once the trash was taken out. After taking out the trash, you had me mop the floor. I even scrubbed the toilet twice just to wait for you to talk. But then you said after showering, and after showering, you said after your mask. And now you’re saying you’re too tired. What on earth did you say that’s so earth-shatteringly awful that I can’t hear it?"

Chen Ningxi was trapped, unable to flee or hide, and reluctantly admitted:

"I... I cursed your sister."

"Well now..." Cheng Qiaobei grinned, "My wife actually knows how to curse? Let’s hear it. What did you say?"

Chen Ningxi had had strict upbringing. No matter how mischievous, she was never allowed to use foul language.

The words had just come out in the heat of the moment. She couldn’t entirely be blamed for it.

Chen Ningxi pursed her lips and confessed, "I cursed your sister... for not being human."

"Pfft..." Cheng Qiaobei couldn’t hold back his laughter, burying his head into her shoulder, pounding the bed as he laughed. "Honey... That’s what you call cursing? Don’t tease me. Let your husband teach you how to really curse someone."

"No!" Chen Ningxi covered his mouth. "No foul language allowed."

When he was in bed, everything he said seemed unbearable.

Cheng Qiaobei took her hand and placed it behind his neck, leaning closer to her. He supported his upper body to gaze deeply at her, his eyes brimming with desire. Their position together was perfect yet intimate.

He spoke in a rough, husky voice, suggesting, "The mood is so good right now. Care to play a little?"

Chen Ningxi’s cheeks flushed instantly, her face glowing even brighter under the bedside lamp. She lowered her eyes and flirted subtly, whispering, "...Turn off the lights."

Cheng Qiaobei’s lips curled into a wicked smile as he began unbuttoning her pajamas. "My love, I refuse."

Under his fiery gaze, her rational thoughts were unwrapped layer by layer.

Amid the flood of his affection, she shone and blossomed...

...

To love you is to shield you, support you, and ensure that only you are allowed to criticize—but no one else can say even half a word against you.

Though she had never openly professed her love, Cheng Qiaobei heard it every day.
