Chapter 1408: Chapter 1408: Moving Out of Cheney Residence Tomorrow
He did not fail to notice the panicked expression on her face, nor the sweat on her forehead.
He had not anticipated that she, all by herself, had the capability to find this place on foot.
Staring at her intensely for a while, Jasmine Yale felt incredibly uneasy, a chill running down her spine.
Was he going to scold her?
Or make her stand as a punishment?
A few minutes later, Sylvan Cheney took out a card from his suit pocket and handed it to her, "Use this to enter, someone will take you to my office."
The cold card landed in her palm, carrying his scent.
She clenched it tightly, nodding her head.
"Go inside."
"Oh." Jasmine Yale bounced into the building, he did not scold her, but let her in instead.
It was only after she walked away that Sylvan Cheney settled back into his car.
Jasmine Yale didn’t expect his card to be so effective. Just as she handed it over, a group of pretty colleagues surrounded her, escorting her to Sylvan Cheney’s office.
They offered her tea, turned on the computer for her, and brought her snacks.
It was Jasmine’s first visit, she felt nervous, but his office was indeed larger than she had imagined.
The room was bright and filled with sunlight. Looking down, she could overlook the entire urban scenery of Landon; by looking up, she could see the blue sky and white clouds.
Unable to contain her excitement, Jasmine ran to the window, her little face pressed against the glass, quietly gazing downward.
Lost in curiosity or mesmerization, she watched for a long, long time.
Until... Sylvan Cheney appeared behind her.
"Isn’t today the day for collecting report cards?" Sylvan said indifferently.
Startled, Jasmine turned around, uncomfortably twisting her hands.
Sylvan took off his suit jacket and loosened his tie, revealing a clean, white shirt underneath.
"..." She didn’t say a word.
"Why aren’t you speaking, did you go to school?"
"I did."
"Where’s the report card? Let me see it."
"I didn’t do well." Her voice was as low as a mosquito’s.
"Give it here."
Jasmine bit her lip, hesitantly pulling out a crumpled report card from her backpack, "Failed in math again."
Sylvan took it, glanced at it.
Indeed.
Not just failing math, other subjects were a mess too.
Jasmine waited for Sylvan’s reprimand, but instead of a scolding, she heard him say faintly, "With these grades, what will you do in the future?"
"What else can I do? Today at school, I was bullied again. A classmate said they would get their dad to expel me. Just expel me, then. Saves on tuition fees."
"Who bullied you?"
"You don’t know her, a girl from a very rich family, her dad owns some bureau."
"Name."
"Nancy Zion."
"So you just let people bully you? Since when did people from the Cheney Residence become so spineless? It seems to me you’re pretending to be bullied because you don’t want to study."
"I was really bullied." Jasmine lowered her head and pursed her lips, "Of course, I don’t want to study anymore."
"Fine, I’ll give you a choice. If you don’t want to study, move out of the Cheney Residence tomorrow. The Cheney Family does not shelter the idle. If you choose to continue studying, take back your words. You decide." Sylvan spoke sternly.
Jasmine lifted her large eyes, the bottoms welling with tearful, panicked flashes like a startled deer.
The bright, crystal-clear tears almost spilled out of her eyes.
Why is he being so harsh?
After a while, Jasmine bit her lip and remained silent.
Sylvan did not speak either, he simply walked over to his desk and rolled up his sleeves to his elbows.
