Fated love: the unwanted bride
Chapter 1399: She Hates Jesse Rowan

Chapter 1399: Chapter 1399: She Hates Jesse Rowan

Without the clamor, she suddenly felt as if marooned on a desolate island, silence engulfing her ears.

The villa was situated in a very secluded location, and in the absence of conversation, tranquility reigned.

Joan Harry lay on the pillow, her crying intermittent.

She was like a helpless fawn, alone in the vast living room, unsure of where to go.

The air was serene, bathed in warm sunlight.

Sounds of the fountain and bird calls were faintly discernible outside.

Jesse Rowan finally stopped coming over, and Joan, worn out from crying, slumped onto a cushion and drifted into a drowsy sleep.

These past few days, she had not had a single peaceful night’s sleep.

Perhaps due to sheer exhaustion, she soon fell into a deep slumber.

She dreamed.

The dream was of joyful times; growing up, she truly had never suffered the slightest hardship.

In fact, she had never even faced setbacks.

Maybe things had been too smooth for her, which is why something like this had happened.

She loathed Jesse Rowan.

She hated him deeply.

In Jesse’s eyes, she was merely a playmate, the novelty not yet worn off.

What does it feel like to fall from heaven into hell? It was probably something like this...

The dream stretched on and on, and only within its confines was she happy.

She did not know if she could ever be as happy as before in this lifetime; she thought, probably never.

Even where she should go tomorrow, she had not the faintest idea.

The living room was very quiet, not a sound to be heard.

Joan Harry curled up on the couch, resembling a pitiful cat.

The villa in winter was silent and peaceful, the sky a dull, endless grey.

Koi Garden remained harmonious, the servants busy with their heads down, Jesse Rowan had gone out.

The surrounding lights blazed brightly, and the chandelier with cherry blossom petals cast a soft glow on Joan Harry’s face.

She slept so soundly, her face etched with fatigue.

So much so that when she awoke, she had no idea how long she had been asleep.

Her hand moved slightly.

A white lambswool blanket had been draped over her, but when it had been placed there, she did not know.

Had someone come in? She did not know that either.

She opened her bleary eyes to discover that it was already dark.

"What time is it..." she murmured, lifting the blanket to groggily search for her phone.

At that moment, a maidservant walked in.

"Miss Harry, you’re awake. The young master has been waiting for you for a long time."

"What time is it now."

"It’s fifteen minutes past eight in the evening."

"I’ve slept so long, why didn’t you wake me..."

"Yes." The maidservant said, "Seeing you sleep so soundly, we didn’t dare to wake you, and the young master also forbid us from doing so."

Joan Harry sat on the couch, her entire being hazy without freshening up.

The maidservant brought her shoes and clothes, helping her comb her hair.

"Miss Harry, the young master is waiting for you outside."

"Waiting for me?" Joan Harry’s gaze was listless, wandering blankly.

Possibly from having cried earlier, her eyes were swollen, but the redness in the corners had faded.

"The young master said you haven’t had dinner yet, he is waiting for you in the conservatory."

"Go tell him I don’t want to eat."

"The young master said that if Miss Harry won’t come, he will fire me tomorrow."

"Does he have no shame?" Joan Harry exclaimed angrily.

"..." The young maidservant looked aggrieved, "But that’s what the young master said. He means what he says and does what he means."

Joan Harry could only stand up and said indifferently, "Where is the conservatory."

"Miss Harry, please follow me."

The maidservant was quite pleased, leading Joan Harry out of the living room, around the corridor.
