Chapter 1265: Chapter 1265: What Wish to Make This Year?

The only sound on the entire balcony was that of the hair dryer, drowning out their breathing.

Jasmine Yale’s hands moved through Chale Cheney’s short hair, her gaze exceptionally tender.

Chale Cheney seemed to enjoy it, holding Jasmine and gradually drifting off to sleep.

He slept, and she dried his hair for him.

"Mommy..." the little guy murmured as he hugged her waist.

Jasmine paused her hand.

Did he miss his mom?

Yet, she relished hearing him call her "Mommy," as if it ignited a long-standing yearning within her, overwhelming and vast.

The nights in Lonton were tranquil and peaceful; all foreign late nights seemed alike.

It was hard to say how it differed from back home, but it indeed wasn’t quite the same.

Jasmine patiently dried the little one’s hair until it was dry, then carried his soft little body towards the bedroom.

...

Five days later, it would be New Year’s.

Calculating, this was the second New Year’s she had spent with Little Chale.

It felt natural and joyful.

She had never imagined she’d grow so close to a child who was not related to her, hard to part with.

On New Year’s morning, Chale Cheney woke up hugging Jasmine Yale.

"Jasy, Happy New Year," he mumbled sleepily, his voice soft and childish, "I wish Jasy becomes prettier and prettier."

"Happy New Year, Little Chale," Jasmine woke up too, her palm caressing his head.

She pulled out a red envelope from under the pillow, "Here."

"Thank you, Jasy."

Chale Cheney was delighted, holding the red envelope in one hand and embracing Jasmine with the other.

"Last New Year, I made a wish that I wanted to spend every New Year with Jasy. Now it has come true once; it’s quite magical..."

"What wish will you make this year?"

"This year... I hope to spend every New Year with Dad."

After saying this, Chale Cheney smiled mischievously.

At first, Jasmine didn’t catch on.

When he smiled, she realized, and rubbed his fluffy little head.

"Jasy, I’ll call Dad."

Jasmine felt a pang in her heart and nodded, "Go ahead, Jasy will get up first. But remember, no one knows Jasy is here to see you, don’t tell your dad, okay?"

Chale Cheney nodded, seemingly understanding.

Jasmine got up to wash up; she had promised Chale that she would take him out shopping today.

Holding the red envelope Jasmine gave him, Chale happily dialed Sylvan Cheney’s number.

Although he didn’t want to bother with Elder Cheney, it was New Year’s after all, so he’d make an exception.

The call connected.

"Dad, Happy New Year."

There was silence for three or four seconds before a deep voice responded, "Happy New Year."

"Dad, do you miss your baby?"

Sylvan Cheney chuckled softly, "What do you think?"

"Maybe... not too much? If you did, you wouldn’t have left me here alone." Chale sat cross-legged on the bed, speaking earnestly.

Sunlight streamed in from the floor-to-ceiling window, bright and dazzling, the sky blue, clouds drifting leisurely.

"Train well with your master and don’t be lazy," the voice was as strict as ever.

"Ugh, annoying, I don’t want to talk anymore! I’m hanging up."

It was New Year’s, and yet he still had to endure scolding.

So annoying!

"What are your plans for today?"

"Have a happy day!" Chale said defiantly.

"Spoiled," came the terse reply.

Chale held onto the phone, unwilling to let go.

Yet, he couldn’t help but continue to chat with Sylvan Cheney for a while longer; Sylvan found him too talkative, yet he never hung up.
