Chapter 1242: Chapter 1242: Jasmine is Chale Cheney’s mom

Charles Mcintosh’s lips curled into a smile as he lifted his hand, resting his palm atop her hair.

The action was gentle, but the words he spoke were provocative, "But your brain doesn’t work well, does it?"

"..." Lilac Serval bristled instantly, pushing his hand away, "MMP!"

"..." Charles’s mouth twitched, "You can’t swear at people."

"I just did swear at you, what about it?"

"It’s fine, you can swear at me. If you want to swear all day, I’ll let you. If you want to swear all your life, I promise not to talk back ever."

"Whether you can even live to get out of jail is uncertain, let alone a lifetime. Do you even understand what a lifetime means?"

Those three words were said lightly, but what they implied was responsibility.

"With you here, it is a lifetime," Charles lifted his hand, gently caressing her brow and eyes.

Under the dim light, her brows furrowed with a rare resentment, like lilacs, impenetrable and lingering.

Charles’s warm palm stroked her eyebrows, his fingers brushing gently, full of tenderness and adoration.

Depth filled his eyes as he gazed at her, unblinkingly.

Lilac Serval paused, looking up in confusion at his face.

In the dim light, his distinct facial features were deep-set and striking, captivating to behold.

Such a version of Charles made it hard for Lilac Serval to remain angry.

No one knew what the future held.

Charles’s hand gradually moved down, cupping her face, and the next second, he tilted his head and kissed her rosy lips.

Due to the weather, their lips were both cold.

Even with collision and pressure, no warmth emerged.

Her body still carried his most familiar scent, like gardenia, fresh and intense, intoxicating him beyond wakefulness.

Such was this dream.

He did not want to wake from this dream.

By Lilac Serval’s ear, only Charles’s breathing and the sound of rain outside remained.

Intertwining endlessly.

After a long while, he finally let go of her lips, reluctantly.

Yet his hand remained on her face, touching gently, not moving away.

Only a few centimeters apart between them, their figures overlapped on the dim balcony, as inseparable as shadows.

Lilac Serval was shorter than him, stubbornness still in her eyes.

Yet Charles, when looking at her, was always indulgently gentle.

"I’m leaving, you stay at the Cheney Residence," Charles caressed her face.

"Are you really leaving?"

"You’re not familiar with Landon, don’t wander off. If a stranger comes to the Cheney Residence, remember to call me."

"How long will Mr. Cheney be in court?"

"At least 48 hours."

"Can I go in to see?"

"During the interrogation, no one can."

"Yacob Harry, that bastard, truly deserves to be hacked to pieces," Lilac Serval cursed, not appeased.

"The Cheney Family is taken advantage of, very passive," Charles’s face also showed deep helplessness.

"Leave the Cheney Residence to me, I will take good care of it."

"Hmm, if you don’t understand something, ask Butler Santana, she’s still here."

Lilac Serval nodded.

She had been to the Cheney Residence before, knew it was once full of servants and lively.

But now, it was desolate, utterly empty.

"Remember to call me if there’s anything," Charles reminded, removing his hand from her face.

"One more question, and you need to answer honestly this time, because I already know the answer," Lilac Serval looked into his eyes.

"Hmm? What question?" Charles looked into her bright eyes.

"Jasmine is Chale Cheney’s mother, right!" Lilac Serval’s face was serious and earnest.

Charles suddenly laughed.

Lilac Serval frowned, clearly displeased, "What are you laughing at?"
