Chapter 1241: Chapter 1241: Wanting to Spend a Lifetime Alone
She looked at him, and he stared back at her.
In Lilac Serval’s eyes, there was only astonishment, unsure how to begin speaking.
Charles Mcintosh, however, was calm, as collected and composed as ever.
"You’re from the Cheney Family, and aren’t I as well?" Lilac Serval said indifferently, "Does that mean I can also serve those ten years for Mr. Cheney? I’m just idling at home anyway, and I don’t even know what prison looks like."
As she spoke, Lilac Serval laughed.
"Is prison fun?" Charles Mcintosh lowered his voice, his deep tone carrying a hint of severity and rebuke.
"It’s not about fun; it’s just that I’m an orphan with nothing to hold onto. Plus, my life now is as dull as plain water, truly uninteresting."
"Lilac Serval, don’t even think about such an idea! You’re so brainless, the court will sniff out the truth immediately. I’m different; I know the Cheney Family like the back of my hand, always at Mr. Cheney’s side."
"Who the fuck are you calling brainless?"
Lilac Serval was furious, glaring at Charles Mcintosh hatefully.
Charles Mcintosh then smiled—
"Is there anyone else named ’Lilac Serval’? There’s only one of you in this world."
When Charles Mcintosh looked at her, his gaze was profound and dark.
His eyes were endlessly gentle, akin to the willow trees swaying in March winds.
"Then go to prison for Mr. Cheney, and I’ll bring you food, so you won’t go hungry," Lilac Serval glared at him, "you speak so unpleasantly."
"If you could bring me food, let alone going to prison, I would do anything willingly."
"Sounds sweeter than a song." Lilac Serval scoffed, "Are you still planning to go to the Cheney Family?"
"Yes." Charles Mcintosh nodded, "You should go back to Lonton soon. You can’t help with things in Landon."
"Wasn’t I supposed to watch over the Cheney Residence?"
"It makes no difference whether you watch it or not. The New Year is coming; go back and keep Chale Cheney company, don’t let the little guy be alone. The master is fierce; he might get scared."
"Little Chale Cheney isn’t as scared of the master as you are; he gets along well with him," Lilac Serval remarked indifferently, "Since the New Year is coming and flights are hard to get, I’ll stay in Landon."
"Why can’t you just listen to me?"
"What are you to me that I should listen to you? Don’t you know that I, Lilac Serval, don’t listen to anyone?"
Charles Mcintosh was quite helpless with her response.
He knew that was just her nature, no one could suppress her.
The balcony lights were off, casting their silhouettes in the dark, creating a subtle atmosphere.
It was dim, and the sound of flowing water could be heard from outside.
The window glass was already misty, blurring the outside view, barely making out the tall trees.
"Little Lilac, last year I said that when I went to Lonton again, we would get our marriage certificate. Now, I don’t know when I’ll be able to go. Are you getting used to the new house?"
"Did I agree to get the certificate? Don’t flatter yourself." Lilac Serval looked at him indifferently, "Even if you go to Lonton, I’m not going to marry you; I’m meant to live alone my entire life."
"But I don’t want to live alone my entire life," Charles Mcintosh said helplessly, "But now, it seems I don’t have a choice. If this turns out to be ten years of imprisonment, by the time I get out, you probably won’t recognize me."
"I’d recognize you even if you turned to ash!" Lilac Serval raised her voice, her tone almost breaking.
Despite her harsh words, Charles Mcintosh couldn’t help but laugh.
"If you’re still alone then, would you marry me?"
"Marry a ghost." Lilac Serval coldly laughed, "By that time, you’ll be old, ugly, and poor; why would I marry you? I, Lilac Serval, am not blind."
