Fated love: the unwanted bride
Chapter 1239: Once Sleepless All Night

Chapter 1239: Chapter 1239: Once Sleepless All Night

"Is there a second Miss Yale?" Charles Mcintosh asked with a faint smile.

By the window, he and Lilac Serval stood shoulder to shoulder.

Through the window, one couldn’t see much of a view, just the incessant heavy rain pouring down from the sky.

The air was filled with misty vapor, fuzzy and indistinct, making it impossible to see the horizon.

"But as far as I know, Miss Yale isn’t coming back to the country, right? If she stays abroad for a lifetime, will this mansion become vacant?" Lilac Serval said.

"That’s still Miss Yale’s property, and no one else can touch it."

"Charles, there’s something I don’t understand. Why did Mr. Cheney have dealings with Miss Harry in the first place? If I remember correctly, some even said they had a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship. I know it’s baseless gossip, just the media making something out of nothing."

"Mr. Childe viewed the Harry Family as close friends, and in his eyes, having known Yacob Harry for many years, naturally, he considered Yacob Harry as one of his own."

"Elder Childe really is getting old, failing to see people for who they are. I think he’s becoming more senile with age. He mistakenly trusted Yolanda Fern back then, and now he’s mistakenly trusting Yacob Harry. At his age, he still comes out to meddle in affairs," Lilac Serval was at a loss for words. "Is it because of Elder Childe’s words that Mr. Cheney started to have dealings with the Harry Family?"

"No... There’s something you don’t know, Hadley Ximenez is in Elder Childe’s hands."

Lilac Serval was taken aback.

She knew all too well about that annihilation case, and likewise, the name Hadley Ximenez was not unfamiliar to her.

But she was not involved, and she had not followed up on this matter afterward.

Now, hearing what Charles said, she understood it all.

"Doesn’t Mr. Cheney hate Hadley Ximenez?" Lilac Serval sighed.

She knew the annihilation case was horrendous.

Dozens of lives from the Cheney Family were lost, including Charles’ father.

With such a deep blood feud, it was impossible for anyone to forget.

She believed neither Sylvan Cheney nor Charles Mcintosh had forgotten.

"Hated him once," Charles said indifferently. "Don’t forget, the dying wish of Mr. Cheney’s mother was to hunt down the entire family of Patronus Ximenez. Bearing that mission, Mr. Cheney had been searching for Hadley Ximenez’s family for many years."

"Those years, Mr. Cheney spent in a haze of hatred, especially the year Mrs. Childe died."

"But Little Lilac, you probably don’t know that it was also in that year that Mr. Cheney encountered Miss Yale. Miss Yale was the light in the darkest moments of Mr. Cheney’s life. He told me that without her, he wouldn’t know what he would have become by now. He could have turned into a monstrous killer, or perhaps a wayward prodigal, but definitely not the man he is today."

"So, when Mr. Cheney found out that Miss Yale was the daughter of Hadley Ximenez, he was torn and had emotional breakdowns, and there were nights when he couldn’t sleep."

"In the end, he acted as if nothing had happened. This is something he planned never to tell Miss Yale."

"Mr. Cheney told me that he might be very selfish, because once Miss Yale found out, she would definitely leave him. He couldn’t bear the thought of losing her after twelve years of being together every day."

"Mr. Cheney also said he was afraid he would let down his mother’s spirit and those dozen or so lives."

Charles Mcintosh spoke slowly and deliberately, articulating each word to Lilac Serval.

This kind of rainy day seemed very appropriate for such light and casual conversation.

He had never treated Lilac Serval as an outsider, and this was the first time he was sharing these matters with someone else.

As Lilac Serval listened, a faint mist appeared in her eyes, and a heavy, indescribable feeling weighed on her heart.

It was very complex.

Even, filled with a myriad of emotions.

This was the first time she heard Charles talk so much about such unknown matters concerning Sylvan Cheney.
