Chapter 1238: Chapter 1238: Will This Mansion Be Sealed Off?

Charles Mcintosh turned off the light in the living room of the Cheney Residence.

Suddenly, the entire mansion sank into darkness.

The storm raged fiercely, turning day into night, and at this moment, Charles’s silhouette vanished into the endless dark.

He held a cigarette between his fingers, preparing to step out with his umbrella.

Just as he stood under the eaves, a flash of red appeared in the courtyard.

Lilac Serval held a deep blue umbrella, her figure draped in a red coat, her expression a mix of desolation and tranquility.

The wild wind whipped up her long hair as she squinted and looked up.

Charles stood on the doorstep; she stood below it.

Their eyes met, and neither spoke.

The cigarette burned between Charles’s fingers, and he chuckled to himself, "Come up."

Lilac lowered her head and walked up the steps.

She arrived beside Charles, her cheeks reddened from the cold.

"Why did you come?" Charles led her inside.

"You said the court’s people would come today."

"Yes, they just left."

"I saw them, several cars." Lilac’s tone carried a subtle, sorrowful indifference.

They didn’t enter the living room, but stood on the balcony, watching the rain outside the window.

The rain poured continuously, running down the windowpanes in straight rivulets.

"Has Yacob Harry handed over the evidence to the court yet?" Lilac closed her umbrella, now holding her arms.

"Not yet," Charles’s voice was as chilly as the rain outside, "He wouldn’t dare easily. Once he does, his life is over. "

"Does he still harbor thoughts of a marriage alliance?"

"In Landon, he’s not the only one with such thoughts. But the only one with the guts to truly consider it is indeed him alone."

The Harry Family and the Cheney Family had been friends for generations, and many years ago, Yacob and Qiana Childe had a good relationship.

Otherwise, Yacob wouldn’t have known about Qiana’s smuggling activities.

Now to make such a fuss over this matter, Yacob was truly despicable.

Any marriage alliance was just an excuse; what he really wanted was to use the Cheney Family to soar high.

And conveniently, Joan Harry happened to quite like Sylvan Cheney.

Speaking of which, joining hands with the Harry Family was not a bad thing for the Cheney Family; who wouldn’t want to add splendor to their status?

But for Sylvan, marriage was never a sacrifice or an accessory.

"Should I deal with him?" Lilac asked indifferently.

Her face was gentle as water, but her gaze was sharp.

Charles smiled, "If there is any dealing to be done, it will be by me."

"It’s been a long time since I’ve been in action." Lilac’s complexion was pale and cold, her gaze still fixed on the rain outside the window.

"A girl shouldn’t lead such a life."

"Then tell me what kind of life I should lead." Lilac smirked.

"Read some books, take care of Little Chale Cheney, accompany the master," Charles said, "You shouldn’t have come; the affairs of Landon are not for you to meddle with."

"In your eyes, am I meddling?"

"That’s not what I mean."

"If that is not what you mean, that’s good." Lilac gave him a glance, "What about the Cheney Family?"

"I am handling everything now, I have to go there in a bit; currently, all the news is still under lockdown."

"The Cheney Residence, shall I keep watch for you?"

Charles turned to look at her, seeing in her face the quiet of a still lake, the serenity deep in her eyes.

"Mhm," Charles nodded.

"Could this mansion be sealed off?" Lilac frown slightly.

"No, this mansion has long been registered under Miss Yale’s name."

Lilac expressed surprise, a trace of astonishment flickering in her eyes.

"Miss Yale? Is it... Jasmine?"
