Chapter 1236: Chapter 1236: A Great Marriage Match
But Yacob Harry managed to procure a pile of confidential materials out of nowhere, accusing Sylvan Cheney.
Moreover, he confidently told Sylvan that he was the only one in possession of the materials.
He gave Sylvan two options: one was to forge an alliance through marriage with the Harry Family, upon which he would destroy the evidence on the spot and the illegal issue would never be mentioned again, ensuring that the Cheney Family remained the foremost in Landon; the other was, if Sylvan stubbornly refused, he would send the evidence to the relevant personnel at the right time.
The evidence was solid, Sylvan was going to be imprisoned.
And for at least ten years.
Just then, Yacob Harry’s Land Rover stopped outside the Cheney Residence.
Yacob lit a cigarette, someone holding an umbrella for him.
He appeared all smiles, his narrow eyes lacking any luster, but they constantly patrolled around the Cheney Residence.
"Mr. Cheney, long time no see." Yacob Harry walked into the living room uninvited, greeting Sylvan with a smile.
Sylvan turned his head, his eyes sharp and piercing.
Charles Mcintosh stepped forward, blocking Yacob before he could enter the living room.
Yacob’s face showed embarrassment, but he thought himself no match for Charles, not knowing whether to advance or retreat.
Charles showed no intention of yielding, and Yacob had no choice but to stand in the doorway with a sneer.
"Mr. Mcintosh, that’s hardly fair of you. If the courthouse people come later, will you stop them like this too?" Yacob chuckled.
"Stop dogs, not people," Charles said coolly, his gaze sharp as a knife as it swept over Yacob’s face.
These words infuriated Yacob, his face turning an iron blue, exceedingly unpleasant.
He was so angry he could not vent, the anger building up inside him with nowhere to go.
His shoulders trembled with rage, his voice altered.
"Charles Mcintosh, don’t forget that you’re a dog too, just a lapdog. Soon, you’ll be a homeless hound," Yacob sneered.
Charles was not a pushover, and he had no need to be polite with Yacob.
He threw a punch, hitting Yacob precisely on the bridge of his nose.
Blood flowed out from Yacob’s nose!
"I’d like to see if I can beat you into acting like a dog right now, lying on the ground and barking!" Charles said, looking down at him coldly.
He didn’t hold back, landing another punch on Yacob’s temple!
In an instant, Yacob’s head spun, stars bursting before his eyes.
The problem was, he didn’t know the slightest bit of martial arts, and in front of Charles, he was just a punching bag!
Charles didn’t treat him politely!
Sylvan had already made a decision on this matter, so Charles didn’t need to be polite with Yacob either.
With a few more hits, Charles left Yacob blurry-eyed and bleeding.
Yacob lay on the ground, motionless.
"Sylvan, you just wait to be imprisoned! Still so audacious even now!" Yacob clenched his teeth. "Let’s see how many years you’ll manage to serve!"
"If Mr. Cheney really ends up in prison, Yacob Harry, I, Charles Mcintosh, will make sure you’re dead," Charles retorted.
"Threatening me? There’s nothing I fear less than threats."
"Then give it a try."
Yacob Harry and Charles Mcintosh were at a standoff, neither yielding to the other.
Yacob, beaten by Charles, lay on the ground unable to move, with blood all over the floor.
"Sylvan, why bother? What was originally an excellent match, you had to destroy it yourself. With the Cheney and Harry families joining forces, who would dare provoke us in Landon in the future? Ha, whom else to marry if not my daughter? You think she’s not good enough for you? Don’t forget you have an illegitimate son yourself. My daughter marrying you would be the real disgrace!"
"So I’m saying, there’s no need for your daughter to be so aggrieved." Sylvan walked over, his voice deep, "Don’t you understand?"
