Chapter 1218: Chapter 1218: Get the Divorce Procedure Done

She couldn’t remember how she had walked out of the hospital. Between dizziness and blurred vision, she felt as if the entire world had changed in an instant.

In her hand, she still clutched the report; how she wished... the test had been wrong.

But there was no mistake.

According to the timeline, the child had been conceived precisely during those three days.

For the first time, Ann Nolan experienced such helplessness, not knowing where to go.

A blank expression filled her eyes, devoid of any luster, resembling still water, without a ripple.

Her heart raced to her throat as she stood alone at the hospital entrance, finding the sun unbearably bright.

Why choose such a cruel joke to play on her? This joke wasn’t the slightest bit funny.

Ann’s legs felt weak; she could barely stand.

She was actually pregnant, her belly housing a small life one month old.

The odor of disinfectant was strong in her nostrils, the sun was piercing, and even the glances of the passersby on the street seemed sharp.

Skyscrapers stood clearly before her, but Ann’s vision was filled with an empty expanse of white, void of anything.

At that moment, her phone rang.

Zaiden Santos?

Since the last time he left, they hadn’t seen each other again.

Ann suppressed the emotions welling up inside her, a lump forming in her throat.

She hadn’t come to terms with the child’s matter yet, not picking up the first call.

A minute later, Zaiden Santos called for the second time.

"Are you up?" Zaiden’s tone was calm, even somewhat haughty.

"What is it?" Ann stifled her trembling voice.

"I’m at the Santos Mansion." Zaiden’s voice was slow, deliberate, as if he were brewing something, "Come here, let’s settle the divorce proceedings."

Divorce proceedings...

Those words, Ann heard them with utter clarity.

Indeed, he was talking about divorce proceedings.

A cold smirk lingered on Ann’s lips, yet she said nothing for a long time.

A deep disappointment brewed in her eyes, and with it, a sense of relief, almost liberating.

Finally, he was willing to sign.

He sure knew how to pick his moments—on the very day she learned of her pregnancy, he was ready to sign.

And she, at last, was about to end this brief year-and-a-half-long marriage.

"Any objections?" Zaiden asked indifferently.

Ann shook her head, "No, wait for me."

She snapped back to reality, leaning on the wall and walking towards the hospital exit.

It was so cold outside; the chill seemed to freeze her heart as well, as if it wouldn’t beat again.

Ann drove her car straight in the direction of the Santos Mansion.

She shredded the hospital report and discarded it in the trash can, leaving no trace behind, her face remaining extraordinarily calm.

Santos Mansion.

She couldn’t remember the last time she came here, was it half a year ago?

Zaiden Santos sat on the sofa, a thick agreement document before him.

As Ann entered, he was examining the agreement, his demeanor calm, his eyes devoid of any ripples, as if discussing a mere contract, nothing out of the ordinary.

He looked the same as always, wearing a black sweater, sitting quietly on the sofa.

The sound of Ann’s high heels halted abruptly at the doorway.

Zaiden looked up, his gaze falling upon her.

When their eyes met, both of their expressions were calm, akin to two blocks of ice, sparking neither warmth nor fire.

On the shoe rack at the entrance, her slippers were still there, seemingly untouched.

Ann carefully slipped them on, slowly walking towards him.

"The agreement you gave me, I’ve already signed it," Zaiden set aside the document he was holding, looked at her with his bland voice echoing in the air.
