Chapter 1212: Chapter 1212: Heart Feels Like It’s Been Smashed by a Hammer
Jasmine Yale smiled, throwing the ragdoll cat into his arms, "Liar, how could Sweet Kitty not miss me."
In reality, Yukon Carbon was a big liar.
When they returned to the bakery, Yukon picked up Sweet Kitty from the garden and handed her over to Jasmine.
The little fellow really missed Jasmine, her big eyes rolling around as she looked at Jasmine, almost as if she wanted to press all four paws against Jasmine’s body.
"Meow—"
"Meow—"
Jasmine adored her Sweet Kitty, giggling as she held her in her arms.
"She’s gotten chubby," she observed carefully.
Sweet Kitty licked the back of Jasmine’s hand and squinted up at her.
"Calling you chubby doesn’t make you mad, huh?" Jasmine stroked her little head.
Yukon took her to her apartment.
He walked behind her, handling the suitcase, while Jasmine walked beside him, holding Sweet Kitty.
At the staircase, an elderly American lady said in English, "Family back from a trip?"
Yukon smiled and said nothing, and Jasmine hurried to explain, "No, we’re just friends."
"Oh!" the old lady realized.
The elevator stopped on the eighth floor.
Once back in her own home, Sweet Kitty darted around, running from the bedroom to the living room, then from the living room to the kitchen, non-stop.
"Just leave the suitcase in the bedroom, I’ll sort it out later."
"Are you hungry? It’s almost time to eat, shall I take you downstairs for dinner soon?" Yukon asked.
"I’m not very hungry, I ate on the plane. I’m just a bit tired, I think..."
"Alright, you rest then, I’ll head back. Call me once you’ve rested up, I’m here for you." Yukon showed his understanding, his face bright and tender, his eyes softly glowing with warmth like willows in March.
Jasmine rubbed her temples and nodded, "Thank you, Mr. Carbon, I really appreciate it."
"Rest well, don’t overexert yourself. Call me if you need anything."
Yukon didn’t linger any longer; he saw the signs of exhaustion on Jasmine’s face.
He waved at her and then left her apartment.
Jasmine was indeed very tired, dizzy from the aftereffects of the flight.
She settled Sweet Kitty and went to her bedroom to unpack.
Jasmine knelt on the ground, tried to hang clothes in the closet, and arranged her toiletries where they belonged.
Her clothes, washed by the Cheney Residence’s servants, still carried the scent of the Cheney Residence, a smell she knew from childhood, a familiar feeling that lingered.
Suddenly, just as she was taking out her clothes, she found a box under them—
That box!
Jasmine’s eyes widened!
It was the Snow White tin box she had once struggled to find...
The tin was already rusted, the Snow White picture on the lid blurred beyond clarity, only specks of color faintly recognizable.
Jasmine’s hands trembled, a thin layer of mist forming in her eyes.
How did this box end up in her suitcase?
She had searched the Cheney Residence for so long last year without finding it; how had it suddenly appeared?
Despite not having opened this box for many years, she knew what was inside.
All the little notes she had written back then.
Nothing significant, just her random thoughts, about her mood, about the weather, about him...
Seeing this box now made Jasmine’s heart feel like it was struck by a hammer.
"Thud," and it shattered.
Her trembling hands took the box out of the suitcase and carefully opened it.
Inside—
Colorful notes, just as familiar as ever.
