Chapter 1204: Chapter 1204: He’s Going to Get Married After All

After breakfast, Sylvan Cheney went upstairs to change his clothes.

Jasmine Yale squatted down and caressed Riceball’s head, teasing it for a while.

"Riceball, I’m leaving now. Will you miss me? Don’t miss me."

Riceball licked the back of her hand, circled around her, and looked up at her with eyes filled with reluctant longing.

"You must feel lonely here at Cheney Residence, right? It’ll be better when Chale comes back. He’ll play with you."

Jasmine squatted on the ground, rambling to Riceball in bits and pieces.

Riceball was unwilling to part with her, and she felt the same.

Sylvan Cheney fastened the buttons of his coat and walked down the stairs.

"Let’s go," Sylvan Cheney stood before her.

Jasmine, still squatting on the ground, looked up at him—this tall man radiated a powerful aura and an irresistible authority.

He still wore the familiar scent of Agarwood Fragrance, as he had for ten years.

She stood up and walked beside him, nodding her head.

The driver drove the car while she sat shoulder to shoulder with Sylvan Cheney in the backseat.

Riceball chased after them for a long way until the Rolls-Royce disappeared from sight. Only then did it stop following and flopped down on the ground, listlessly immobile.

Sylvan Cheney sat beside her, but she didn’t know what to say to him, so she played with her phone, head bowed.

The car hadn’t been driving long when Sylvan Cheney received a phone call.

"Mr. Cheney." A sweet female voice came from the other end of the phone.

It was very quiet in the car; even though the voice wasn’t loud, Jasmine heard every word clearly.

She had no habit of prying into others’ privacy and continued to play with her phone, head down.

However... she recognized the voice—it was Joan Harry.

Joan’s voice was as sweet as her persona, sugary like candy, melodious as a songbird.

That voice was the kind you wouldn’t forget after hearing it just once.

"What is it?"

"Will you come to the group today? You haven’t been here for several days."

"I’ll come by later."

"Okay, then I’ll wait for you. There are several documents here that need your signature, and some questions I don’t understand, I’d like to ask you about them."

"Mm."

"Have you had breakfast? Or have you not woken up yet?" Joan teased on the other end of the line.

"I’m eating."

"Oh, okay, then I won’t disturb you. I’ll wait for you in the office; I’m already here."

Sylvan Cheney didn’t respond and hung up the phone.

Joan Harry wasn’t very reserved, and from her tone, she seemed quite casual while speaking with Sylvan Cheney, as if they were a serious couple.

Jasmine wasn’t interested and continued to focus on her game.

She knew that Joan was his girlfriend, even if not officially, then at least in the rumors.

Cheney was always very proper and rarely involved with women in scandals. Yet, he now allowed the media to speculate, obviously with his tacit consent.

However, all of that had nothing to do with her.

Eventually, he was meant to get married.

When she was in her teens, she had wondered what his future wife would look like?

But back then, she was unwilling to accept the fact that he would one day get married, shaking the thought off after a few minutes.

In reality, she was deceiving herself.

"Addicted?" Sylvan Cheney glanced at her phone and spoke indifferently.

She had been playing the game throughout the ride.

"Mm."

"When did you get hooked on playing games? Do you even play during class? Hm?"

Sylvan Cheney watched her engrossed manner and narrowed his eyes slightly.

Jasmine’s attention remained fixed on her phone screen: "Don’t talk to me. I’ll lose."

"..."

Sylvan Cheney reached out a hand and snatched her phone away.
