Chapter 1200: Chapter 1200: Talented Gentleman and Beautiful Lady, An Exceptional Match
Ann Nolan left Zaiden Santos at the hospital without a twinge of guilt.
After returning home, she straightened up the messy bedding and covered it with a quilt.
She had already been exhausted from the evening banquet, but now she felt even more drained, as if all her strength had seeped out, too tired to lift her hands.
It was only when she turned on her phone that she found many messages from Jasmine Yale.
Did this girl seem bored?
By rights, shouldn’t she have been in class today?
Ann was too sleepy to reply to Jasmine, and fell asleep as soon as her eyes shut.
With the lights off, the seductive night colors and endless tranquility were all that remained.
The sky was inky, and the night air was cool as water.
Hospital.
It was past three in the morning when Zaiden realised Ann was gone, during the deepest part of the night.
"Ann! Ann!" He yelled frantically in the empty infusion room, "Nolan!"
His shouting woke others in the infusion room, causing them to furrow their brows.
He didn’t care that there was still a bit of medicine in the drip, and yanked out the IV himself!
The blanket was pulled all over him, and the place where she had been sitting was icy cold, devoid of any warmth.
Which meant, she had left a long time ago!
"Nolan!"
A nurse hurried over, "Sir, please keep your voice down."
"Where is my wife?" Zaiden asked with a frown, his face clouded with anger.
The nurse pressed some alcohol-soaked cotton to his bleeding arm and explained, "Your wife left quite early, she said not to wake you and that we would come on time to remove the IV."
"When did she leave?" Zaiden’s face grew darker.
"She left not long after the IV was hung up."
"What did she say?"
"Just gave a couple of instructions, nothing much."
Zaiden’s expression had turned as dark as the three o’clock sky, and a chilling solemnity radiated from him.
"Sir, dawn is almost here, would you like to rest here or go home?"
Zaiden didn’t respond, straightened his coat, gathered his blanket, and walked out.
He hadn’t expected Ann to leave him alone in the hospital, especially not in the middle of the night. To think she could actually do such a thing.
Throughout the past year or so, whenever she had fallen ill, he had always taken care of her.
Now, he was merely suffering from a rare bout of fever and cold, and she couldn’t even muster the patience to stay with him for one night.
If it were Zachary Santos, would she have stayed by his side without washing or changing clothes?
Zaiden clenched his teeth, once again recalling the scene of the press conference that day when she sat alongside Zachary.
Both dressed in formal attire, they were sitting together, a handsome man with a lovely woman, striking an impressive pair.
Stumbling out of the hospital, Zaiden’s vision was filled with images of Zack and Ann.
And of her coming home at night wearing Zack’s suit.
While his fever had subsided somewhat, Zaiden’s body did not feel well, and he was extremely weary.
Upon reaching the entrance of the hospital, the cold breeze was discomforting.
The hospital at three o’clock was extraordinarily quiet and utterly still.
He called Ann.
Ann was sleeping drowsily, mistaking the time as dawn already.
"Hello..." She closed her eyes, frowned, and smacked her lips.
"Ann, you left me alone in the hospital?"
"Mm... What’s wrong..." Ann furrowed her brows, her complexion not good, recognizing his voice, "You aren’t a three-year-old child, what’s wrong with leaving you alone in the hospital..."
"I only have a fever, if it were a surgery, would you leave me alone in the hospital too?"
"Why curse yourself for no reason?" Ann said helplessly, rubbing her forehead.
