Chapter 1196: Chapter 1196: Then You Can Go Die

At that moment, the apartment was very dark.

If the lights had been on, Ann Nolan would have definitely seen a spoiled and haughty expression on his face, just like that of a little boy clamoring for candy.

Even in utter darkness, she could feel the nastiness in his tone.

"What am I supposed to do? What can I do? I’ll fucking throw you out!"

Ann Nolan tried to walk past him to open the door!

But Zaiden Santos was quicker, blocking her path, and with a slight push, he guided her toward the bedroom.

He was not familiar with Ann Nolan’s apartment; he bumped into a table here and there, wincing from the pain.

"The light switch is on your left; could you turn it on, please?" Ann Nolan couldn’t stand it any longer.

"Ahem." Zaiden Santos coughed twice before finally turning on the light.

With the lights on, the whole place lit up.

Ann Nolan saw that his arm had been bruised after a collision, instantly turning purple.

"Let go, I’m going to take a shower," Ann Nolan warned him.

"I caught a cold. It wasn’t so bad at first, but it got worse after I rushed back on a flight today," Zaiden Santos was repeating this fact.

"So you caught a cold, big deal. Are you a five-year-old? Even kids know to take medicine when they’re sick. Don’t you know that, or what?"

"It got worse today after I came back."

"And then?" Ann Nolan said as she looked down to switch her shoes.

"..."

"The medicine box is under the bed in the bedroom. Find it yourself; I don’t have time to take care of you." Ann Nolan went to gather her clothes, ready to take a shower.

She wasn’t used to serving others, especially not when she was drunk.

"Medicine won’t cure it."

"Medicine won’t cure it?" Ann Nolan raised her eyebrows, looking at him and couldn’t help but find it amusing, "Medicine won’t cure it, then what do you suggest we do?"

"You need to hug me."

"Then go to hell, for fuck’s sake." Ann Nolan, who usually refrained from swearing, couldn’t take it anymore; she’d already let slip quite a few expletives tonight while drunk.

But she couldn’t tell if it was her or Zaiden Santos who was more intoxicated.

He was, after all, spouting more nonsense.

Ann Nolan stopped paying him any attention and took her clothes to the bathroom for a shower.

Zaiden Santos watched her heartless retreating figure, feeling somewhat saddened.

After standing still for a while, he still chose to go to her bedroom to get some medicine.

Her bedroom was clean and fresh, suffused with the scent of jasmine, cozy and inviting. The walls were adorned with elegant green wallpaper.

The bed was meticulously made, with the blanket and pillows all neatly arranged.

This kind of tidiness made one feel a particular urge to disrupt it.

Zaiden Santos first pulled out the medicine kit and found cold medicine, which he took with some bottled water.

His gaze slowly fell upon her bed, and without considering whether Ann Nolan would agree, he simply took off his shoes and sat down.

The scent on the bed was identical to Ann Nolan’s, and just like the one at the Santos Mansion.

When Ann Nolan came out with her hair damp, she was greeted by this scene—

A lean, haggard man was leaning against her pillow, his tall figure listless, sitting on the bed, idly flipping through a book in his hands.

It was her newly bought copy of Tess of the d’Urbervilles in English; she hadn’t read much of it yet, while Zaiden Santos seemed to be quite focused on it.

Seeing him sitting on her bed without even removing his clothes, Ann Nolan was infuriated.

"Can you get off, please? Who said you could sleep on my bed?"

"If not for me to sleep in, then who?"

"Anyone but you!"

"Ann... did Zachary Santos ever sleep here?" Zaiden Santos looked into her eyes, unrelenting.

His words had an undertone, and anger surged in Ann Nolan’s chest, her eyes gathering a cold light.
