Chapter 1185: Chapter 1185: Pressed Against the Edge of the Pool!
In the afternoon, Butler Santana cut some fruit for Jasmine Yale and brought it to her bedroom.
"Miss Yale, have some fruit, I also brewed some black tea for you," Butler Santana said.
The bedroom was very warm, and Jasmine was just about to take an afternoon nap.
"Thank you, Butler Santana."
"Miss Yale, you’re too polite, this is my duty," Butler Santana said, "Are you leaving tomorrow?"
"Yes, I changed it to tomorrow."
"Miss Yale, can you not leave? I can see that Mr. Cheney really doesn’t want you to go."
"Really? But what he said to me was to go back to Cakago sooner and never come back to Landon, and I won’t disturb his life. I will listen to him."
"Miss Yale..."
"Butler Santana, I want to sleep for a bit."
"Alright, alright, Miss Yale, then I’ll step out." Butler Santana didn’t say anything further, put down the tray, and left.
Jasmine tasted an apple, her gaze distant and unfocused, lacking any concentration.
The sour and sweet apple was just like the taste of that lollipop from before, delicious.
Ann Nolan replied to her message: "Jasmine, I just saw your message, but today’s protagonist isn’t me, it’s Zachary Santos."
"Have you had lunch?"
"I have. I was too busy and ate late, the noon celebration was for Golden Growth’s success."
Ann was leaning against the sink in the restroom, replying to Jasmine’s message.
The sound of leather shoes approached from outside the restroom, but Ann, too focused, didn’t hear them.
She looked down, her eyes sparkling with animation, having drunk a little wine at noon, her cheeks flushed, she looked very happy.
The sound of the shoes grew closer.
Just as Ann put her cellphone into her bag, suddenly, someone closed the restroom door from inside, and she was pressed against the edge of the sink!
Although Ann had had some wine, she wasn’t drunk, and her burning gaze met the newcomer’s instantly!
Zaiden Santos!
"How did you get here? This is a hotel," Ann’s hands were tightly clasped by him.
"How I got here, of course, was by car."
Zaiden Santos’s complexion was icy, his eyes shone with a deep, dark light, and the everyday elegance had vanished, leaving only the cold solemnity of King Shura in the night.
His deep, hoarse voice spread throughout the restroom, carrying the chill of teeth gritting in anger.
His entire face was dark, like the sky before a storm in June, oppressive.
Ann winced in pain; she had drunk wine, he hadn’t.
Zaiden was still wearing a gray overcoat, looking as if he had hurried over from the dust of the road.
Ann no longer knew anything about his movements; she didn’t even know whether he was in Landon or away on business.
Seeing him now, it seemed he was in Landon. Otherwise, how could he have gotten here so fast?
She didn’t know what he had been up to lately; they were essentially living apart.
Ann’s cheeks were flushed, her eyes carrying the allure and seductiveness of someone who had drunk wine.
"Let go, I need to get back to the banquet," Ann frowned.
"When did you start getting involved with Zachary Santos? Huh?" Zaiden asked in a cold tone.
"Why are you asking this again? Don’t make a scene; he’s my superior."
"Superior? Secretary? Very impressive..." Zaiden said mockingly, "Just for you, he specifically took over Golden Growth, even more impressive."
"What nonsense are you saying? Golden Growth was a mess, anyone could have taken it over, okay?"
"Really? You are the Chief Secretary of Golden Growth, I don’t believe you have no clue. How much capital and risk does it take to acquire Golden Growth, huh?" Zaiden lifted a hand and gripped her chin.
