Fated love: the unwanted bride
Chapter 1167: Should I be Jealous?

Chapter 1167: Chapter 1167: Should I be Jealous?

Jasmine Yale sat on the bedroom bed, with the door firmly shut.

Outside, night had fallen, and the sky had darkened.

She sat on the bed, hugging her knees, not saying a word, with her large eyes filled with a vague mist that slowly spread.

She couldn’t quite grasp the feeling in her heart; she just wanted to sit like that.

Outside the window, the night sky was like a curtain, slowly obscuring the light.

The night at the Cheney Residence was tranquil and silent; the street lights came on, making the surroundings seem like a world apart.

After a while, Jasmine’s WeChat chimed.

She snapped back to reality and grabbed her phone.

It was a message from Yukon Carbon: "Back in the country? Call me when you see this message."

Jasmine dialed Yukon’s number.

"Mr. Carbon."

"Jasmine? Where are you?"

"I came back to the country, sorry, I didn’t tell you. I came back to deal with a little issue with my residency, I’ll return tomorrow." Jasmine lied with a smile.

"You should have told me, if it’s a small issue, I could have helped you handle it back in the country."

"It really is a minor issue, so I didn’t want to trouble Mr. Carbon, don’t worry, I’ll return as soon as possible."

"Traveling alone back to the country, be safe. Is it late there?"

"Yes, it’s already... past eight." Jasmine glanced at a clock, "Don’t worry; nothing’s wrong. When I return it’ll almost be finals, after the exams, I can go out and have fun."

"Okay, I’ll wait for you in Old York." Yukon’s voice was gentle, "Have you had dinner yet? Don’t go hungry."

"I know."

"Good to know, anymore and you’d think I’m nagging."

"I don’t mind your nagging, it’s nice to talk to you." Jasmine laughed, "Are you busy with work?"

"Not too busy recently. Since you’re not in Cakago, I didn’t go back this weekend and worked overtime instead. My mom keeps talking about you too, she says the bakery feels empty without you."

"Thank her for looking after Sweet Kitty for me."

"She really likes Sweet Kitty, at least between me and Sweet Kitty, she definitely prefers Sweet Kitty."

Jasmine laughed: "Aunt Camden really doesn’t care for you much."

"Both you and Sweet Kitty are better in her eyes than me, you tell me, shouldn’t I be jealous?"

As Sylvan Cheney used his key to open the door, he overheard Jasmine talking on the phone with Yukon.

His hand holding the keys paused for a long time.

He stood there for several minutes, didn’t open the door, and left.

Jasmine continued talking with Yukon for a long time; she liked talking, but back in her country, she had no one to talk to.

She didn’t even dare tell Ann Nolan she was back.

There was no time, she couldn’t meet with Ann.

Talking was a way to relieve pressure, and after chatting with Yukon for half an hour, her mood had improved significantly.

In the middle of the night.

Jasmine got hungry and sneaked downstairs to find something to eat.

The deep night at the Cheney Residence was pitch black, the lights inside the villa were turned off, only the street lights outside were still shining, all around was silent.

She tiptoed as well, didn’t turn on the lights, using her phone for illumination.

She carefully walked down the stairs, step by step.

Just as she was about to reach the lower floor, her phone’s light suddenly revealed someone sitting on the living room couch!

Jasmine was startled, almost tumbling down the stairs.

On closer inspection, it was Sylvan.

He was sitting on the couch napping, his head propped up, with a thin blanket covering his body.

On the coffee table in front of him, there was an ashtray filled with cigarette butts.

It was already one thirty in the morning.

Why not sleep in a proper bed, why sleep in the living room? Jasmine wondered.

She walked past the couch, tiptoeing towards the kitchen.
