Chapter 1166: Chapter 1166: The Background is Not Complicated, Can Marry
The two sat face to face.
Jasmine Yale remained silent, and Sylvan Cheney naturally didn’t have much to say either.
She slowly ate her meal, not looking at him across the table, yet she often felt two burning gazes whenever she bowed her head.
"I am going back to Cakago tomorrow." It took a long time before Jasmine Yale seemed to make up her mind.
The hand Sylvan Cheney used to hold his chopsticks paused for a moment, then he nodded, "Okay."
"You won’t come to Cakago to find me anymore, will you?"
"Mm."
"My father and brother are dead, are we even now? Is the feud between the Cheney Family and the Ximenez Family over?"
"Mm."
"Do you feel a great sense of revenge? But I will not forgive you. I can’t be like you, but when will this cycle of vengeance end? I won’t take revenge on you, but I also won’t have anything more to do with you. After all, no one can calmly face the person who killed their family members."
Jasmine Yale slowly finished speaking, feeling as if her throat was choked with stones.
The air suddenly became silent.
Her heart was as still as stopped water.
After a long while—
"I have investigated Yukon Carbon." Sylvan Cheney spoke lightly, "His family background is clear, he is upright, and his family history is uncomplicated, suitable for marriage."
Jasmine Yale’s hand trembled, and she looked up in astonishment.
Her large eyes were filled with shock, and his words struck her heart forcefully like a drumstick.
She hadn’t expected him to suddenly bring up Yukon Carbon.
And, he had investigated.
He even said... suitable for marriage?
"He is not like Joe." Sylvan Cheney added blandly, calmly eating his meal.
"What standing do you have to talk to me about this? My lifetime matters are not your concern. Moreover, investigating someone behind their back, aren’t you very adept at that?"
She was questioning him.
For some reason, Jasmine Yale’s heart fluctuated dramatically.
Looking at his expressionless face, a myriad of indescribable feelings spread throughout her body.
The light in his eyes was ambiguous.
He had actually investigated everyone she knew; did he have that much free time?
He had never met Yukon Carbon, yet he had thoroughly investigated him; such a man was truly terrifying.
Jasmine Yale’s hand trembled, barely able to grip her chopsticks.
"I know he’s been very good to you," Sylvan Cheney said lightly.
With a "snap," Jasmine Yale put down her chopsticks, shaking with anger, her eyes brimming with a cold, red fury.
She looked at Sylvan Cheney, her shoulders trembling, extremely angered.
This was the first time she had ever slammed her chopsticks down like that with Sylvan Cheney; before, only he had done such things.
"I don’t need you to worry about my affairs, Mr. Carbon has been very good to me, much better than you by many times. I will consider my own lifetime matters clearly, so you, an outsider, should not interfere."
There was a touch of hatred in her eyes.
Yet Sylvan Cheney’s face remained as calm as still water, without any ripples or fluctuations.
Much calmer than her.
People who had experienced big events would definitely be calmer than her.
Her eyes blazed with irritation, spreading and enveloping like a wildfire.
Meanwhile, Sylvan Cheney continued eating his meal, methodical, indifferent, and calm.
"I know you have your own opinions," he said simply, his voice gentle.
"I will buy my own plane ticket."
After speaking, Jasmine Yale couldn’t eat anymore and turned to go upstairs.
She climbed the stairs, almost running up quickly, her mindset somewhat collapsing.
And she didn’t know which string had suddenly snapped, the broken string cutting her to bleeding.
