Chapter 80: I love sitting on Big Brother Leo’s lap

"WHAT THE HELL?! HOLY SHIT!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"

That explosive shout was loud enough to snap Raphael from her deep slumber. Her instincts jolted awake. Heart racing, she immediately grabbed the mop beside her bed, mistaking the sound for a sign of danger—maybe a thief breaking into the house.

With hurried steps and a worried frown, she rushed toward the source of the commotion, fear tightening her chest.

But what she found left her frozen in disbelief.

Instead of a burglar or intruder... she saw her nephew, Leo, pinning down a soaked, half-dressed little girl.

To say she was horrified would be an understatement... Her heart sank. Whatever scenarios she had prepared herself for—this was not it.

Now, in the living room, the three of them sat in awkward silence.

Ophis, looking perfectly composed, had already changed into dry clothes and sat upright with a haughty little expression, legs crossed and posture elegant, like someone born to sit on thrones.

Across from her, Leo sat on the edge of the couch, face flushed with embarrassment, wearing fresh clothes that were tight and barely covering his body and trying to hide his awkward grin. A large bruise throbbed on his forehead—a painful reminder of the divine punishment delivered by Raphael’s mop.

"So... he didn’t do anything weird?"

Raphael asked, her voice firm as she glanced suspiciously at Ophis.

"Come on, Raphael. Seriously?" Leo groaned, feeling insulted. "Do you really think I’d do something to a child?"

She ignored him.

Ophis calmly stood up and held the hem of her skirt as she gave a small, graceful bow.

"Nice to meet you. My name is Ophis Dracula," she said, her voice composed and refined. "And no, he didn’t do anything improper. I merely offered to help him wash his back. He got a little flustered, that’s all."

Raphael blinked in surprise, momentarily thrown off by Ophis’s sudden elegance and regal demeanour. The way she carried herself, the tone of her voice—everything about her screamed aristocracy.

Like a noble raised in an ancient castle.

On the other hand, Leo sat frozen in place, staring at Ophis like she had grown a second head.

’Who is this girl?!’

As if sensing his confusion, Ophis turned and gave him a sweet, knowing smile.

"I didn’t know you had such a beautiful big sister, Big Brother Leo. You really should’ve told me."

"..."

Leo was speechless.

Raphael’s face turned slightly pink. She giggled, unable to suppress her grin.

"Oh my... You’re such a sweet little thing. So elegant and polite at such a young age... Haha. But no, dear—I’m not his sister. I’m his aunt."

Ophis blinked, surprised. "Really? You’re his aunt?" She looked between the two of them. "I wouldn’t have guessed... You look so young and lovely, I assumed you were his older sister."

She turned back to Leo with a teasing smile. "You’re lucky, Big Brother. Not everyone has such a beautiful lady in the family."

Raphael laughed, covering her mouth with her hand, clearly delighted. "What a charming little girl... So well-spoken and thoughtful." Then her eyes narrowed just slightly as she added, "Unlike someone else I know."

Leo’s lips twitched, pretending not to hear the jab as he watched Raphael and Ophis exchange compliments and pleasantries like they were already lifelong friends.

Honestly, Leo hadn’t expected this at all.

That same little monster who just bit his neck minutes ago was now masterfully shifting the atmosphere, turning an awkward tension into a soft, welcoming warmth. The way she navigated the conversation... controlled the tone...

’This girl... maybe she is older than she looks.’

Leo made a mental note to never underestimate her again.

Finally, Raphael turned to Leo and asked with a curious expression, "What happened to you? Did you dye your hair? And your eyes... they look kind of darker.

Wait... are you taller? What the heck happened in a single night?"

Leo flinched. ’Shit.’ He hadn’t thought of a way to explain this to her... How was he supposed to?

He’d been exposed to Mana, and now his body had sort of adapted—that’s what Jing said, anyway.

Sure, he could say... He dyed his hair and eyes... contact lenses, but... tall? He didn’t have a single thing to explain about that.

So,

"Well... teenage hormones hit me?"

"...Huh?" Raphael gave him a strange look.

Ophis almost burst out laughing.

Leo shot Ophis a glare before turning to the still-worried Raphael. "I’m fine... it’s just—sigh..." No matter how he said it, it didn’t sound believable. "Hormones just... You know."

Raphael frowned. But seeing his tense expression and how he was clearly trying to avoid the topic, she got the hint—he didn’t want to talk, at least not in front of Ophis. So, she let it go for now.

She knew how children act at his age... pushing with questions might backfire.

Especially in front of a stranger, she wouldn’t pry.

She’d ask him everything later.

’No way this was just teenage hormones!’

Trying to change the awkward atmosphere, she asked, "By the way, where are those two? Valra and... Cael?"

Her question only made the silence heavier.

At the mention of their names, Leo’s expression darkened slightly. His shoulders slumped as he hesitated, looking down.

"Well... I... I..."

Before he could stammer further, Ophis smoothly interjected.

"Big Sister, those two have already returned home. I’m Cael’s sister. I came here just to inform them and... well... I kind of wanted to stay behind for a bit. You know, after what happened earlier." She gave a small smile.

"Oh? I see..."

Raphael nodded slowly, her tone softened, though her eyes flickered with concern as she noticed Leo’s sombre look. Something was clearly bothering him. Maybe there was an argument.

She hummed thoughtfully and glanced at the wall clock. It was already past 8 AM.

Then, as if an idea struck her, Raphael turned back to Leo.

"Why don’t you come with me? I have something to show you. A little surprise."

Leo blinked. "Uh... sure, I guess." He didn’t really have anything else to do anyway.

Raphael turned to Ophis next, smiling. "What about you, dear? If you’re free..."

Ophis immediately responded with a soft, eager nod. "If Big Sister asks, I’ll absolutely be there."

Raphael laughed gently. "What a good girl."

Leo’s lips twitched again as he caught the sly little grin on Ophis’s face.

Yup... this girl was definitely something else.

After that, Raphael quickly took a shower, changed into fresh clothes, and got ready to head out. She double-checked the locks and secured the house before stepping outside, where Leo and Ophis were already waiting by the car.

As she approached, she looked at Leo with a slight frown.

"Here... wear this coat for now."

His clothes were tight, and it looked odd for him to walk around like that, so she handed him a long black coat.

Leo smiled as he put it on, but then—

"Wait... where are your glasses?"

Leo blinked, then gave her an awkward, sheepish smile."Uh... I kind of lost them." as he wore the coat.

"Tsk... not again," Raphael muttered, shaking her head in disappointment. She turned to Ophis with a sigh. "Look at your big brother... he’s already lost two pairs of specs this month!"

Ophis blinked innocently and replied with a sweet tone, "It’s fine, Big Sister... he looks cool without glasses."

Raphael’s face instantly melted into a soft smile. She knelt down, leaned forward, and kissed Ophis’s cheek.

"Oh my god... she’s so lovely... Leo, can we keep her?" with sparkling eyes.

Leo stared at her, completely dumbfounded.

’What the heck is going on here?!’

Ophis just grinned from ear to ear like a cat who’d gotten all the cream.

"Anyway," Raphael said, straightening up, "we’ll stop at the hospital first, then get some breakfast, and then... the surprise. Okay?"

Both Leo and Ophis nodded in unison and climbed into the car.

But as soon as Leo sat down, Raphael noticed something odd. He wasn’t doing his usual overdramatic whining about her driving or complaining about the air... or even putting the mouth guard.

He just sat there quietly, buckled up, and looked out the window.

’Hmm... something definitely happened last night...’ Raphael thought, glancing at him with concern.

She wondered if he had fought with the girls—Valra and Cael—or if it was something deeper. She made a mental note to ask later.

Then, without warning, Ophis casually climbed onto Leo’s lap and sat down like it was the most natural thing in the world.

Both Leo and Raphael stared at her, stunned and speechless.

"I love sitting on Big Brother Leo’s lap," Ophis said softly, her face innocent and sweet. "It’s so warm."

"Aww~ How sweet," Raphael cooed, her tone sugary like she’d just devoured a pile of candy. Her heart was practically melting.

Leo groaned and glared at Ophis.

"You’re going to regret this."

"Huh?! Whyyyyy?!" she whined, clinging to his shirt as the engine roared to life.

SSCCRRCCHHHH!!!

The tires screeched as the car sped off like a bullet.

Soon, they arrived at Merlin Hospital.

As the car pulled to a stop, the doors popped open, and the morning sunlight bathed the entrance. Ophis hopped out first with a big smile, her eyes sparkling.

"Big Sister, your driving is amazing!!" she cheered and immediately wrapped her arms around Raphael in a tight hug.

"Fu~fu~ Look who’s enjoying my driving now..." Raphael chuckled proudly, grinning from ear to ear. She glanced at Leo, who stepped out calmly and silently closed the door behind him. But the calmness in his eyes didn’t sit right with her.

"Wait in the lobby. I’ll be right back," she said as she turned to head toward the reception desk.

But before she could walk off, Leo leaned in and whispered something quietly into her ear.

Raphael paused.

Her expression turned hard and serious."Leo... that’s not possible. That area’s restricted," she said firmly.

"Please, Raphael," Leo whispered again, softer this time.

She looked at him for a long second, and her shoulders slowly slumped. Seeing her nephew like that—his voice low, face serious—she finally sighed and pulled out her ID card from her coat pocket.

"Fine... But you better not touch anything in there. Understood?"

Leo nodded. "Thank you."

She handed him the card and turned away.

Leo looked down at the ID for a moment, then walked through the hospital’s automatic doors and headed straight toward the ICU.

Ophis, naturally, followed close behind.

But then,

"Wait... come to think of... I locked the freaking door. How did you enter?" Leo asked.

Ophis smiled as her finger swirled with red particles, "Magic~"

"Oh?... Oh...."

But then, he frowned and halted again, "So you didn’t lock the door?"

".... hehe.. I forgot," Ophis tilted her head cutely.

"...."
