Chapter 984: Chapter 594 Trickery_3

"Lord of the Fortress had anticipated this," Ashmi gave Simmon a reverent look and said, "I have just returned from the Far Sea Marsh, where I reached a strategic cooperation agreement with the Ghost Witch Assembly there. Once the Lizard Queen’s Court collapses, they will send their large army to assist us and help us seize all the rights over Tun Marsh."

Goblin Margins have two major marshes, which are indisputably sister marshes because both originated from the same source, formed by the surrounding mountain ranges and abundant underground water, and both are traversed by the Wild Border River, linking them together.

Originally, the area of Far Sea Marsh was much larger than that of Tun Marsh, but due to erosion from the Enorok Great Desert from the north, its area has shrunk by two-thirds from its peak era, and it is now less than half of Tun Marsh.

Although they are less than a hundred kilometers apart, they each belong to different domains and the relationship between them is very tense.

The Lizard Queen has always tried to incorporate Far Sea Marsh under her rule and is said to be looking for a powerful magic that will sink the land between them and connect the two marshes.

But in the Far Sea Marsh lies a Legendary Witch Gathering, whose existence, it is said, predates even the formation of Tun Marsh. They have absolute control here, forcing the usually high-profile and domineering Lizard Queen to only brew conspiracies without taking any real action.

Only when three different races of witches gather together can it be called an Assembly; because witches are deceitful, selfish, and manipulative by nature, only witches of equal strength can form an assembly, otherwise it’s unilateral control and manipulation, and should be called a Witch Queen, not a Witch Assembly. Legendary Witch Assembly implies at least three Quasi-Legendary Witches forming it—a Witch Assembly is not just a name but can aggregate the witches’ powers to form a greater strength, the three Quasi-Legendary Witches together equaling Legendary strength.

As for a Legendary Witch Assembly formed entirely of Legendary Witches, while not non-existent in the world, Far Sea Marsh cannot accommodate them; even if they do not extend their influence beyond Goblin Margins, they would never allow an old Black Dragon to proclaim herself Queen of Tun Marsh without immediately bringing it under their dominion.

"Far Sea Marsh’s Witch Assembly?" Goste seemed to recall some unpleasant memory, his cheeks twitching involuntarily as he said, "All witches are wicked, cruel bastards, and every word and promise they make is laced with deadly poison. To believe their promises is to edge closer to destruction."

A witch is a term for creatures that are similar in appearance to emaciated human women but are not; they are like Yaling, belonging to the Fae Race, originating from the Fairy Wilderness, representing its evil aspects. However, the number of witches in the Material Plane far exceeds those in the Fairy Wilderness, especially as marshes are their favorite habitat—not just because the perilous environment provides shelter, protecting them from the pursuit of benign forces.

It’s also related to their corrupt nature; they are naturally drawn to things associated with death, all sorts of bones, bits of flesh, and filthy objects are their cherished favorites, including the marsh’s muddy swamps, typically finding beauty in ugliness. Hence, they have a deep-rooted abhorrence for conventional beauty and often help other creatures destroy or alter their attractive appearances. Ironically, many witches often disguise themselves as beauty gurus, proclaiming they can help people retain their youthful looks, drawing in foolish beautiful women who soon find out that the beauty achieved is not by their standards but by those of the witches—meaning they will be marked with grotesquely ugly faces and live like that permanently.

This is just one of their many abhorrent acts, with countless others much worse.

"We don’t need to trust these witches’ promises; we just need to believe in their ambitions," Simmon hinted at his plan and said, "The most troublesome part about these marsh powers is not their strength, but the fact that they hunker down in the marshes and refuse to come out, just like the Lizard Queen of Tun Marsh and the Witch Assembly of Far Sea Marsh. As long as sufficient benefits tempt them out, we have the chance to deal them a heavy blow. Once their power is significantly weakened and their control over the marshes greatly reduced, we can then draw marsh powers that belong to us and slowly erode them, bringing them under our dominion."

Damn!

So, making contact with Far Sea Marsh witches was a ruse, luring them out under the pretense of plotting for the Lizard Queen’s heritage, but the real target for the Monster Tribe’s attack will be these witches.

This conspiracy is tightly linked, no, it’s a web of plots ensnaring the Lizard Queen, the Conqueror Army, the Far Sea Witch Assembly, and the Sambian Merchant sniping plans, not missing a single target.

Not all need to succeed; even one or two victories would significantly expand the influence of Dark Castle in this region.

Most importantly, they from Dark Castle have always stood with the God of War from the very beginning, no matter how the forces in this web of conspiracy fight among themselves, they can only emerge successful, the question is merely how significant that success will be.
