Chapter 964: Chapter 588: Forming a Secret Trade Union
"Very good," Gaven nodded with satisfaction, uncertain whether he was praising Daphne’s attitude or her newly acquired ability.
Compared to when she first followed him, Daphne’s growth was not insignificant, having improved by three professional levels, much like Blood Claw in the past. Gaven rarely invested much effort in boosting Daphne’s attributes, her former attributes were indeed outstanding among mortals, reaching the top tier, but never transcending to a supernatural realm.
Where Gaven employed her the most was mainly in the conspiracies that Dwarves Elves were best at, and secondarily, the intelligence and some professional knowledge related to Necromancy of the Undying Goddess of Vengeance.
However, as Gaven grew and the number of professionals increased, Daphne no longer retained her uniqueness, nor did she hold an advantage.
Clearly aware of this, Daphne, after transcending with her three intrinsic attributes, did not choose abilities related to casting, but instead focused on enhancing her internal governance capabilities, sensing that this was where Gaven most lacked talent. As long as she could excel in this area, she would have the chance to stand on her own; the Giant Dragon Coast was the perfect opportunity to prove herself again, having been involved throughout the planning of the Giant Dragon Coast unity plan.
There was no need for Gaven to entice her: having followed him for so long and seeing his immense potential, how could she place all her thoughts on the Giant Dragon Coast? This place was merely a stepping stone to further develop her abilities. Her ultimate goal was still to return to Gaven’s side and follow him to greater heights. Judging by his current progression, Daphne believed that he would not be content to simply remain a King among Men.
Keen Mind, Insightful Observer, Subtle Influence.
Separately, these three abilities might seem ordinary, but when activated together, they complemented each other remarkably.
Keen Mind would enhance Insightful Observer, which in turn would support Subtle Influence, typical abilities of someone pulling the strings from behind the scenes, a perfect match for the mission she was about to undertake in Efanso.
"You are very aware of the Giant Dragon Coast unity plan, so there’s no need for me to say more about it. Tell me, what are you planning to do next?" With Daphne, Gaven had no need to beat around the bush, after all, she had witnessed and deeply understood even his darkest aspects, "As my special envoy, you will be fully responsible for all related matters on the Giant Dragon Coast."
The intent to test her was very clear.
Yet, Daphne felt no pressure and immediately responded, "Firstly, we need to establish our own trading company here. Lord had already begun to layout this plan, with much of the structure already in place. What remains is to operate it more professionally. This place will then become the headquarters of the company, and if possible, I would like to name it the Conqueror Guild."
Gaven’s brows involuntarily raised as he said, "Isn’t that name a bit too aggressive for a trading company? It might easily evoke resentment from the native residents of the Giant Dragon Coast and hinder our integration."
"What we’re utilizing is that aggression. What’s the most important thing for a trading company to grow and strengthen?" Daphne asked and answered herself, "Security. Only when security is assured will merchants trust the company and wish to join. The Conqueror Army is our advantage. The more power and dominance we display, the more guaranteed our security will be.
Moreover, our brand is already quite pronounced; even if we were to use a milder name, the people of the Giant Dragon Coast would still associate it with the Conqueror Army. Rather than let that happen, we should fully exploit this, uncover the advantages. Some may hate us for it, but others will be drawn to us. Focusing on recruiting those willing to join us is our primary task for the early stages."
"Very good, your positioning on this matter is clearer than mine. We’ll name it the Conqueror Guild then; that’s the first step. What about the second?" Gaven nodded, indicating that Daphne had convinced him. These matters were, after all, conjectures; the real effect of the name would depend on how the people of the Giant Dragon Coast reacted. Often, a name you believe to be popular, one that shook the Earth to its core, might be disregarded by the general populace, while something thought up on a whim while on the toilet might unpredictably catch on.
The name Conqueror at least had deep symbolic meaning. Just by mentioning it, one would think of himself, the Conqueror Path, the Conqueror Army, and their grand achievements along the way.
"Next is to establish our own Secret Guild here. In this world, there are many things that are difficult to accomplish by legitimate means but can be more conveniently done through grey or dark methods. The complicated situation in the Giant Dragon Coast means there are bound to be numerous secret battles," Daphne passionately put forth her second suggestion, "This Secret Guild can work alongside the Conqueror Guild, overt commercial activities handled by the Conqueror Guild and then selecting elites from within to join the Secret Guild to work on tasks like intelligence gathering and secret security."
Daphne knew Gaven’s disposition well; some things could be done but not spoken of, therefore choosing her words with great caution and subtlety.
