Chapter 906: Chapter 568 Giant Dragon Opens Its Mouth_3
As for preparing supplies, the Conqueror Army was far ahead of the hastily assembled Allied Army, although they had the continuous support of the major cities.
If they were the commanders, they would definitely send out a small number of elite cavalry to harass, sabotage, and plunder their supply lines.
What they could think of, the followers of Lady Strategy surely could not fail to consider.
The purpose of evaluating combat strength and the outcome was naturally to prepare for the upcoming negotiations. The stronger the military might, the higher the chances of winning, and naturally, the more advantageous position one holds to demand a higher price.
"Is this the handiwork of the Necromancer Arms?" the Court Archmage stood in front of Efanso City Hall, frowning deeply.
He immediately noticed the extraordinary nature of the place. It was clearly connected to the Shadow Plane, a direct gateway to there.
"Yes," Gaven nodded and explained, "Archmage, please be assured, we have already dealt with the issue here. We will not allow those ghosts to use this place as a gateway into the Material Plane. Using this place as an office is temporary, and it will certainly be changed for another use in the future."
There was no reason to spit out a piece of meat that had reached one’s mouth. Efanso City Hall had already become a part of Weizemay Manor’s territory. Naturally, it was neither possible nor would it be returned.
"It’s good that you recognize the special nature of this place," Feng Geda Hast wisely refrained from meddling further.
After everyone entered the City Hall and took their seats, the Court Archmage got straight to the point, "I believe there is no need to explain my purpose here once more. I just want to know, my young friend, what are your plans? War or peace?"
"The question is not whether we want war or peace," Gaven protested righteously, "We kindly assisted the people of the Giant Dragon Coast in eradicating evil, and instead of showing gratitude, these brother cities turned around and formed an Allied Army to besiege us. Archmage, asking us whether we want war or peace seems like you’re asking the wrong person."
This cunning little fox, taking advantage of the situation and acting innocent. You invade and conquer on someone else’s territory and then complain when they surround you; not attacking you directly is already a mercy.
Feng Geda Hast inwardly cursed with a laugh but maintained a benign expression, "I understand the grievance in your heart. That’s the main purpose of my trip, to find a balance point acceptable to both sides. Make your demands and opinions known, and I will negotiate with the City Lords of the Giant Dragon Coast. After all, if war breaks out, both sides could suffer heavy losses."
"We can leave Efanso, that’s possible," Gaven blurted out his demands unabashedly, "First, their army must retreat fifty kilometers. I need to ensure the safety of our troops.
Second, Efanso must be handed over to Ms. Yeshandalah and the Rebel Army she leads. They have always been fighting for the righteous cause of liberating Efanso, and it couldn’t be more appropriate to give it to them.
Third, they must ensure the safety of our legitimate businesses in all cities along the Giant Dragon Coast. No retaliatory strikes should be taken against us once we leave.
Fourth, they must promise not to destroy the Conqueror Path we’ve established and not retaliate against normal merchants passing through, and recognize Blood Gorge City’s ownership over the Giant Plains. If they attack this place, Blood Gorge City has the right to counterattack.
Fifth, those from the Giant Dragon Coast who voluntarily join our migration must not be hindered.
Sixth, they must prepare ten million Gold Coins as war reparations, after all, we helped them eliminate a huge security threat on the Giant Dragon Coast."
At first, the Court Archmage nodded in agreement, as these requests seemed reasonable. However, when he heard the last two demands, even he could not help but look askance.
This wasn’t just a lion’s share; this was the Giant Dragon’s share—demanding both money and people, and ready to skin the Giant Dragon Bay.
"Are there any other conditions?" inquired Feng Geda Hast. He was but a mediator, a negotiator; it was not his place to critique the conditions put forth by the other party.
"Just these for now," Gaven assured fervently, "As long as they meet these six conditions, within three days, we will leave Efanso and transfer its governance to Ms. Yeshandalah. Oh, and they must promise that as long as Ms. Yeshandalah does not initiate hostilities, they will not take military action against this place. Any violation of this agreement gives the Hobgoblin Army of Blood Gorge City the right to enter this land to assist in its defense."
"I will do my best to facilitate this matter," the Court Archmage vaguely agreed, suddenly feeling the weight of his mission.
Such conditions were hard for him to accept, let alone for the City Lords of the Giant Dragon Bay who were the parties involved.
Feng Geda Hast acted swiftly. No sooner had he heard Gaven’s demands when he appeared in the Allied Army’s command tent, where a host of City Lords and mayors had gathered, waiting for his report. Upon hearing the demands he brought back, these City Lords and mayors erupted into a heated argument right in front of him.
"This is outright robbery! They attacked Efanso of their own volition, not at our request. Why should we pay them? And the asking price is outrageous—to demand ten million! Why don’t they just rob us? No, even a robbery wouldn’t yield that much that quickly. It’s impossible, you cannot possibly—We absolutely will not pay this sum."
"Blood Gorge City is now completely managed by Hobgoblins. When did Monster Cities get to enjoy the territorial rights of intelligent beings? Wouldn’t this create chaos?"
"Not allowing us to take military action against the Giant Plains is an even more absurd demand. Monster Tribes breed quickly here, and if we don’t clear them out periodically, a Monster Tribe will soon grow strong enough to attack our cities. We cannot agree to this condition either."
"Efanso is a city of the Giant Dragon Coast. The appointment of its mayor is our own business. Why should an outsider decide that? And to not attack them proactively—that’s imperialism in its clauses. Absolutely unacceptable."
