Chapter 904: Chapter 568: Giant Dragon Opens Its Mouth Wide
"Your Highness himself said it, it’s three thousand Purple Dragon Knights, not a mixed bag of troops," Carla Denneth said with a smile. "Cavalry that can stand shoulder to shoulder with the Purple Dragon Knights are few and far between across Felen."
"This Conqueror Army, although called a grand army, is essentially a migrant legion. In the previous two major conflicts, those Elite Battle Groups led the charge, with ordinary soldiers playing a supporting role.
However, given the enemy’s vast numbers, once the elite and the main forces are separated and constrained, it could easily lead to mass casualties among the ordinary migrants, which I suspect is the last thing the Leader of the grand army wants to see.
Their Hobgoblin Army on the Giant Plains is indeed a strong force, but unless absolutely necessary, they dare not let them charge off the Giant Plains to attack the Human forces on the Giant Dragon Coast. Doing so would attract universal outrage and brand them with the reputation of colluding with the Monster Tribe to attack Human settlements.
Hence, it’s difficult for this conflict to escalate. From the start, it has been a chip on the negotiation table."
Carla Denneth did not seek Feng Geda Hast as her mentor of her own accord, but after she alone eliminated an Orc assault troop from Thunder Peak, she caught the attention of this Court Archmage. What impressed him most was that this Magician, though powerful, was content to live an anonymous life.
Before officially taking her as an apprentice, she had repeatedly turned down Knight Templar invitations secretly arranged by Feng Geda Hast. After several occasions of secret contact in various guises, the Court Archmage discovered that this girl possessed not only tremendous bloodline strength but also had received the most orthodox noble education, displaying originality in economics, military, and other aspects.
Eager for talent, Feng Geda Hast could no longer restrain himself. He revealed his identity to her and requested to take her as his apprentice.
The Court Archmage did have some reputation. This time Carla Denneth didn’t refuse. She didn’t let Feng Geda Hast down; she excelled in all respects, especially under his systemic training, her growth rate was astonishing.
Feng Geda Hast harbored a secret he hadn’t shared with anyone: he intended to groom this young female disciple as his successor, which was also why he seized the opportunity to arrange her beside Yalusai.
Feng Geda Hast said with a smile, "This is good for us. Our difficulty in facilitating a peace talk will be much reduced. Once we enter Efanso, you must follow closely behind me and not act on your own."
The last sentence was mainly directed at Yalusai. Carla Denneth, with her steady nature, was unlikely to act rashly.
"I know, I’m not a child, and I won’t be so careless," Yalusai muttered discontentedly, although she did not have much confidence in herself; many times, once she got excited, she would forget everything else.
"Then let’s raise the flag," Feng Geda Hast gestured, and a massive magic banner appeared in the sky above him, depicting a Purple Dragon that seemed alive and roaring.
Giant Dragon Bay truly had a Purple Dragon named Sagro in ancient times, but Komeer Kingdom, known as the Purple Dragon Empire, had no relation to this dragon—at least not any sort of blood relation.
It was simply because their Knights liked to wear purple armor, which from a distance, looked like a massive Purple Dragon, hence the name the Purple Dragon Legion.
Later scholars also derived the notion that they would take the place of the ancient dragon Sagro, continuing to dominate the Dragon Lake North Shore.
Such a flag belonged exclusively to Komeer Kingdom in all of Felen.
As soon as Feng Geda Hast raised the flag, both the Giant Dragon Coast Allied Forces and the Conqueror Army of Efanso reacted.
The latter’s reaction was without a doubt the more superior; it took only a few minutes before magical fluctuations twinkled, and a troop of Heavy Cavalry adorned in red heavy armor appeared hundreds of meters away from Feng Geda Hast’s group. They weren’t numerous, only fifty riders, but their strength was top-notch; any single one could serve as a middle or high-ranking Commander in the Purple Dragon Legion.
"Long-distance, mass troop Teleportation."
The trio involuntarily narrowed their eyes—Efanso was not close, nearly a kilometer away.
Transporting more than fifty Heavy Cavalry, along with their mounts, was no small feat; even Feng Geda Hast himself, casting an Advanced Teleportation Spell, couldn’t transport more than five riders at once.
Nine Rings Teleportation Array could transport on a large scale, but casting it was time-consuming; the few minutes since they had raised their flag wasn’t enough to prepare such a Spell.
They all possessed very high military literacy and were acutely aware of the value of such fast troop deployment magic on the battlefield. It could easily catch the enemy off-guard, especially outside the city where numerous forces were intermingled within the Allied Army. With astute tactical application, just these fifty riders alone could destabilize the situation.
Therefore, Carla Denneth’s earlier assessment might have been a bit too abrupt, but she no longer had the time to discuss with her companions, as the Cavalry, led by two Commanders, were now within striking distance.
The two Commanders, one male and one female. The male appeared much younger than them, yet exuded a mature man’s presence. His features weren’t the kind that stunned at first glance, but rather became more appealing the more one looked, difficult to dislike.
