Chapter 902: Chapter 567: Komeer Kingdom_2
Especially with the rise of the Goddess of Strategy, he keenly sensed that this was not a mere act of familial promotion but a deliberate change in the attitude towards war—a change that was particularly advantageous for large-scale legion combat. As a nation that prided itself on having the most knights around the Sea of Fallen Stars, they placed immeasurable importance on this aspect.
The moment he heard that the first follower of Lady Strategy was preparing to establish the War Academy of Strategy, they could not afford to fall behind others by any means.
But the question was how much to invest in this endeavor. Mere correspondence through letters was not enough; it was necessary to weigh the other party in person. He could not leave the Purple Dragon Royal Court so easily, so the task could only be entrusted to the Court Archmage; what he saw would be as if he had seen it himself.
"Understood." Feng Geda Hast and King Yasan had been monarch and servant for many years and did not need to communicate much to understand his true intentions.
Turning his head to Princess Yalusai, who was eager to try, King Yasan said, "Don’t get too excited too soon. Being outside is unlike at the palace; should you make a mistake, there will be no mother to protect you this time. I hope you can use this opportunity to temper your temperament and not be so impetuous. I am waiting for you to return after learning well."
"Father, rest assured, I will definitely not disgrace the Obisceal Family." Yalusai promised with fervor, unabashed by her father’s words. Right now, she only felt as if the sea was hers to traverse and the sky hers to soar—finally, she had a chance to escape the confines of these high walls.
King Yasan couldn’t help but sigh internally. Having been that age himself, he knew all too well his daughter’s thoughts, just like he once had, feeling that the outside world was boundless and wonderful.
But little did she know the dangers lurking beneath, especially as a member of the Obisceal bloodline, who, while naturally possessing power, were also born with inherent enemies. Some lessons could not be taught; they had to be experienced firsthand, and it was time for Yalusai to be let go to experience life for herself.
Reaffirming his decision, King Yasan waved his hand and said, "The matter is settled; no need for further worry. Prepare yourself; the Archmage will depart for the Giant Dragon Coast by the end of half a day."
"Alright, Grandpa Archmage, I’ll see you in a bit." Yalusai gave Feng Geda Hast a slight smile and ran off quickly, her buoyant steps reflecting her cheerful state of mind.
As he watched her joyful figure leave, Feng Geda Hast couldn’t help but sigh, "It’s not noticeable at the usual times, but once with these young people, I feel my age. I still remember the day I first saw her; she was just a tiny bunch, like a little monkey without fur. In the blink of an eye, she has become a beautiful young lady."
"Indeed," King Yasan also couldn’t help but feel nostalgic, "When we first met, I wasn’t even as old as Yalusai. I wasn’t the King of the Komeer Kingdom then, just a not-so-qualified Adventurer, and you were not the Court Archmage of Komeer, just a wandering Mage not content with his fate. In a blink of an eye, that was thirty years ago."
"Can’t dwell on it, can’t dwell on it; dwell any more, and I’ll feel like I’m halfway in the grave," Feng Geda Hast said with a hearty laugh.
"Hmm," King Yasan said gravely, "Your journey to the Giant Dragon Coast also carries a secret mission."
"Please, Your Majesty, do tell."
"I’ve received a secret tip-off that the Flame Dagger is showing signs of resurgence in the West Gate; I need you to ascertain this matter," King Yasan of the Yasan Kingdom said seriously.
"Flame Dagger? Didn’t we root them out last year?" Feng Geda Hast’s brow furrowed at the mention.
This was the name of an elite assassin organization native to Komeer, said to have spanned four centuries. They were initially just like any standard assassin group, gathering strays, thieves, and thugs, and training them to carry out assassinations for money.
They became enmeshed in the courtly coup of the Komeer Kingdom and were utilized by some nobles to assassinate the reigning King and Queen of Komeer.
Enraged, the Obysque Royal Family uprooted the Flame Dagger organization along with the noble families behind the action.
However, the incident was intricately widespread, and the purge had not been thoroughly carried out; they soon regrouped in secret.
After reforming, their nature was somewhat different from before; they still undertook various assassination jobs for profit, all the while harboring an engrained hatred, notably towards the entire Komeer nobility, especially the Obisceal Family.
They would undertake assassinations, poisonings, seductions, set Magic Traps, and the like against the nobles of the Komeer Kingdom without any aim or benefit to themselves, and over the past few hundred years, they have been responsible for numerous inexplicable deaths among the Kingdom’s nobility.
What truly decided King Yasan to resolve to cleanse them was their audacity to strike at the Obysque Royal Family once more; if they had the gall to attempt an assassination on him, they could dare to target his descendants next.
He didn’t fear assassination, but his yet-to-mature grandchildren certainly did.
In that massive purge, Feng Geda Hast had personally taken action, confident in his methods; those high-ranking members of Flame Dagger had no chance of revival.
"It is said there is a branch we overlooked last time that has raised the Flame Dagger banner again. Whether true or false, we cannot disregard this message," King Yasan said with a severe gaze, "Anyone providing shelter to this organization, or anyone involved, will be an enemy of the Komeer Kingdom, including the Mask of Dark Night from West Gate. Take this message to the Faceless; say it came directly from me."
