Chapter 862: Chapter 554 Lady Strategy’s First Chosen
Gaven contemplated the intricate relationships involved when both parties had already met not far from the chariot encampment. He took the lead, saying, "August Inquisitor, Darnell Inquisitor, as soon as I heard that Paladins were coming to support, I knew it was you two. Thank you for coming such a long distance."
"Mr. Duke, you are being too polite," Darnell said animatedly. "Eliminating the evils of this world is our bounden duty, let alone the fact that the Necromancers of Efanso have completely lost their humanity. Their deeds have even surpassed the devils in Hell. Whoever they might be, we will always lend a helping hand."
"Darnell Inquisitor, as always, putting justice first," Gaven admired sincerely. According to his understanding of the other, these were not mere words but reflected his genuine inner thoughts. However, their decision to mobilize the Elite of the Just Hammer was also owing to their close associations.
Darnell and his delegation were not here at Gaven’s request, but of their own accord, as Gaven himself had not even contemplated calling for reinforcements due to his self-sufficient strength.
"Allow me to introduce you," August said, pointing to the burly man by his side. "This is Aidan Ambrose, the Sword Master of the Sword Monastery, and this is Duke Gaven Nort, the commander of the Conqueror Army and pioneer of the Three Rivers Region."
"An honor to meet Master Aidan," Gaven said, his eyes flashing with excitement as he thought to himself that it was indeed him.
The Sword Monastery, located in Battle Valley, had been established just this year, yet its reputation had already spread widely.
This matter began during the Year of Upheaval, when the Deities of Phelun descended in the form of saints. Naturally, the God of War Tempus was no exception. His whereabouts became known at the battlefield of Mist Valley’s Sword Creek.
A dedicated Sacrificer of Tempus from Amu, tracking the traces of his true god, found his way to the battlefield. Following the trail back, he located the original divine descending site of Tempus—at the ruins of a castle in Battle Valley. There, this dedicated Sacrificer decided to build a temple to serve the God of War and to showcase his glory.
This dedicated Sacrificer was none other than Aidan Ambrose, and the temple being constructed was the Sword Monastery.
That place was an undoubted Holy Land of Tempus, attracting vast numbers of the Followers of Tempus from around the world.
What truly put the Monastery on the map was not until ten years later when a group of powerful Dwarves Elves, loyal to Velen and part of the Ozqueven Family’s vanguard, used a portal hidden beneath the Sword Monastery to launch a surprise attack.
Though outnumbered, the Followers of Tempus not only drove back the dark Elf vanguard but also destroyed the portal, preventing the Ozqueven Family from transporting all their troops over and attacking the unprotected Battle Valley.
However, during this process, the Sword Monastery paid a heavy price. Aidan was dragged into the Abyss by a Demon Lord while destroying the portal and was devoured. He could not be resurrected, even with the most potent spells like the Complete Resurrection Spell and the Wish Spell unless the Demon Lord who devoured him was permanently killed.
This event came to be seen as the beginning of the Mystorno Liberation War, as the Dwarves Elves officially emerged to join this conflict.
At this moment, Aidan had not yet reached the peak of his life or strength. In his prime, he appeared no older than forty, also clad in a scratched suit of plate armor. He was not particularly tall, standing just over 1.7 meters, his build muscular yet not exaggerated, equipped with explosive strength over endurance, and carrying a two-handed greatsword that emitted powerful magical fluctuations.
This weapon, known as the Sacred Sword of Tempus, was a certain sub-divine artifact, usable only by a dedicated Sacrificer of Tempus.
"An honor to meet you, Duke," Aidan said, also assessing Gaven, who appeared even younger than he had anticipated. However, at his level of cultivation, age was no longer the sole measure of someone’s strength. He knew that in this world, there were many means to achieve this, and one could never tell what age the soul encased in a youthful body might be, or whether the individual was even a human at all but perhaps some powerful being in disguise. Not only did the great dragons enjoy such deceptions, but many spellcasters also favored them.
Aidan sensed that Gaven bore auras belonging to dragons and natural life forces, as well as a distinct aura of the Lady of Strategy, resembling yet not quite the Chosen. The influences of Tyr, the God of Knowledge, the God of Songs, and the Lady of Dance also existed within him, hinting at the attention multiple true gods paid him.
August couldn’t help but exclaim, "Young Gaven, every time we reunite, you bring us immense astonishments. This time is no exception. To think that in a blink, you have rightly earned your title, amassing such a vast number of lieges. Should you bring this troop back to Battle Valley, I believe Lord Ilmet would have to abdicate in your favor, and then you would truly be the Lord of Battle Valley."
The news of the Conqueror Army was no longer confined to just the Giant Dragon Coast, as word had spread far and wide to Komeer, Sambia, and the Valley Fields. The focus was now across Dragon Lake, on this Conqueror Army and on Gaven, who received considerable attention.
