Chapter 853: Chapter 551: Overbearing
Gaven was shocked by the strength of the Half-Dragon attribute template.
This Half-Blue Dragon too was stunned by the opponent’s superstate transformation.
The opponent’s transformation into a Half-Dragon wasn’t something they originally knew how to do, or else it would have been used from the beginning, instead of delaying until mid-battle.
Instead, throughout the battle, the transformation mimicked his own body condition as it evolved.
What was exhibited wasn’t merely powerful capabilities; it possessed an unimaginable learning ability as well.
His Half-Dragon form had always been his pride, for it was an innate talent and ability, one either born with or without.
At least until a few minutes ago, that was what he had always believed, but Gaven had proved to him through actual circumstances that certain special spells could mimic their physiological condition.
Even with his exceptionally strong mental fortitude, he felt a considerable impact.
This made him resolve to stay beside this young man, to explore the secrets of this magic; if he could bring this magic back to his clan, he believed it would earn the highest honor.
"Morimi Clan? Could you possibly originate from the Blood of Morimi?" Gaven couldn’t help but reevaluate the Half-Blue Dragon warrior, indeed noticing streaks characteristic of the Hobgoblin on him.
He was a hybrid between a Blue Dragon and a Hobgoblin, a Half-Blue Dragon Hobgoblin.
The Blood of Morimi was famously known in the Northern Lands, especially near the Silvermoon Alliance for being a Dragonborn organization, which originated from the Legendary Blue Dragon Morimi, composed entirely of Blue Dragons, Half-Blue Dragon Goblins, and Dragon Vein Earth Sprites.
They had endangered the Nais Mountains for over a thousand years, having resided there even before the establishment of the Silvermoon Alliance.
Even after the formation of the Alliance, no one dared to provoke them because no one knew how many Half-Dragons or Dragon Veins—whether Half-Dragons or Dragon Vein Earth Sprites, both belonging to ever-lasting kind with longer lives the richer their Dragon Bloodline—they had raised over the years.
In theory, a Half-Dragon possesses half the lifespan of a Giant Dragon, with each descending generation decreasing to the maximum lifespan of the other maternal species.
Another reason why this organization had remained neighbors with the Silvermoon Alliance for so long was that the orderly aspect of their nature dominated, although they harbored significant expansionist desires, their focus was not on territory but on lineage.
They frequently waged wars on the Eternal Wasteland or crossed the Supreme Forest to the Supreme Wilderness, plundering a large number of female Hobgoblins as breeding stock to foster more Half-Blue Dragon Goblins and Dragon Vein Earth Sprites.
This effectively suppressed the number of Goblins in the Eternal and Supreme Wildernesses, an exceedingly favorable situation for the surrounding human cities.
Many things have dual sides, even those wicked organizations.
"My lord has also heard of the Blood of Morimi?" a hint of uncontrollable pride surfaced on the dragon-faced Half-Blue Dragon, lacking in emotional expression. When he had revealed the name of the Morimi Clan to Gaven, he hadn’t planned to hide his true origins.
Yet, his own introduction wasn’t as gratifying as discovering that the other party already knew of it.
"Not only have I heard, such purely Dragonborn organizations like yours are rare; I didn’t expect to meet one today, and in such a manner," mused Gaven, "your joining this Slave Traders Group wasn’t part of a clan duty, was it?"
"Exactly." the Half-Blue Dragon Gnome readily admitted, "The Hobgoblins on the Giant Plains, especially the gigantified ones, are very unique. We are attempting to use them to breed stronger offspring. This Slave Trade Group handles Goblin slaves, especially those gigantified ones, and our Morimi Clan has the priority to purchase them."
Gaven revealed a knowing expression; this Half-Blue Dragon Gnome was an unmistakable Quasi-Legendary.
With his previously demonstrated combat prowess, he was a noteworthy figure anywhere. To stoop to act as a sentinel within a Slave Trade Group and stay put was exceedingly abnormal unless he had some compelling reason to remain.
If it were a clan mission, that would be completely normal.
Even if today’s events hadn’t occurred, this Half-Blue Dragon Gnome falling into his camp was inevitable.
Compared with such slave trading, cooperating with the controller of the Giant Plains was far more convenient.
Now aware of the other’s ulterior motive, Gaven was even more reassured. He addressed the Half-Blue Dragon, "If so, I believe we can identify a mutual interest. After this is over, we’ll discuss further. Before then, please help me uproot this Slave Traders Group, ensuring they never find ground here again."
"No problem." The Half-Blue Dragon’s dragon mouth cracked into a fierce smile, "I’ve wanted to do this for a long time, and now having found a better partner, such filth has no need to exist in this world. Besides Ilip, I also know their secret dens and warehouses in other cities, and if you wish, I can help you capture them all."
His actions were more than normal, it couldn’t even be considered betrayal, as his loyalty had never been dedicated to the Petrified Lizards Slave Traders Group, but to his own clan.
When he had discovered the enemy earlier, sounding the alarm was his final act of obligation.
