Chapter 800: Chapter 533 Spell Improvement_2

Philancy might seem casual, but that was just her tsundere nature showing.

The spellbook she prepared was definitely deliberate, and even if it wasn’t the original Nesserel Magic Book, it included a wealth of related knowledge, something countless people dream of obtaining.

Her words also served as a wake-up call for Gaven.

His knowledge of magic theory was indeed too shallow, much of it was common knowledge acquired during his adventures as the Legendary Warrior.

But that common knowledge wasn’t 100% accurate, it was just stuff he didn’t know.

Dimensional Anchors were one such example, after all, in his past life he hadn’t witnessed many true spell battles.

Most of them were spells versus close combat.

The combatants were fighting over distance, as once a mage was approached by a powerful warrior, they were easy to slice up.

But the problem was, a mage’s array of spells could completely outmaneuver a pure warrior, never giving them a chance to get close.

"Glad you understand. By the way, will you still be here tomorrow night?" Philancy was clearly looking forward to it but still acted nonchalant, as if she had a backup plan in case he left.

"I’ve arranged everything for the immigrant relocation, and I shouldn’t have any need to handle things in person for the next few days. I’ll stay here and continue to learn magic from the teacher." If he had the chance to study with a Legendary Arcanist, there was no need for him to struggle on his own.

"Good, see you tomorrow night then." Philancy nodded in satisfaction, her figure growing fainter until it disappeared into a mist.

Gaven stood up and stretched lazily, chatting away the entire evening without a hint of fatigue—yet another benefit of having a Transcendant Body. As long as he activated his abilities, accumulating and absorbing magic power, it would cleanse both his body and soul consciousness of fatigue, even saving him those four hours of daydreaming.

For him, sleeping for a few hours was purely for the enjoyment of that sensation of completely letting go.

Gaven unfurled his Shadow Cloak and entered a state of invisibility. This return visit was primarily for Philancy and didn’t involve much official business, so he didn’t plan to make a public appearance. He just wanted to privately observe the changes here—it was one of life’s little pleasures. Although he had left Anfield Village for nearly a month, the changes he brought were permanent and continued to gain strength over time.

When he emerged from the basement, Gos was long gone; outside the inn, it was bustling with noise, a cacophony of human voices and animal sounds, just like a morning market.

And it was indeed the case.

The area was crowded with Anfield villagers who had driven over from all directions, their carts heaped high with various vegetables and fruits.

The Stone Stallion Inn now doubled as a food procurement center for the Gnoll Quarry. Gos faithfully executed Gaven’s original strategy, purchasing directly from the villagers, even though the number of gnolls at the quarry had grown to over 1,500, keeping the demand for food high.

The downside was that they needed to transport food daily.

The upside was that the ingredients were fresher than fresh, having been harvested the night before or that very morning.

Gos and the gnoll waiters he led had plenty of opportunities to hone their business skills.

Negotiating and tallying with the villagers were not hired barmaids or courtesans, but Gos and several slender gnolls, their figures betraying their origins from the Stone Bridge Hills area.

As they say, every coin has two sides.

Due to their proximity to human settlements, these gnolls struggled with greatly reduced living space, which not only limited their numbers but also made their lives exceptionally difficult, leading to severe malnutrition and smaller stature than regular gnolls. However, these hardships had honed abilities not found in the average gnoll.

For example, they knew how to dodge human hunters and dogs, how to sneak into human farms for food, and even how to disguise themselves as small dogs to infiltrate villages under the cover of darkness. Their knowledge of humans was something the gnolls of Dragon Oak Territory lacked.

If translated into attributes, the gnolls from Stone Bridge Hills would have the following stat adjustments: Strength -2, Dexterity +1, Constitution -1, Perception +1, Charisma +1.

Out of the 1,500 gnolls, a small group of about twenty with high perception had been selected and sent to Dragon Oak Territory to learn how to concoct Tremor Bombs, preparing to become Gnoll Alchemists—an unexpected bonus.

Beyond that, under Gos’s leadership, a large group of gnolls skilled in dealing with humans had emerged. Many showed promise, and even if they didn’t become gnoll merchants, becoming gnoll waitstaff was also beneficial. For certain special industries, using gnolls was more reassuring.

These gnolls haggled relentlessly with the citizens of Anfield Village, disputing over every penny for the sake of a copper coin, often dragging the exchange out for ages. In the end, the encounters usually concluded with the victory of the slight gnolls, because the villagers knew these gnolls were perfectly happy to haggle with them until noon, animated and tireless. With that time, the villagers might as well finalize their deals early and go for a drink at the inn. After all, the produce they brought wasn’t that much, and after arguing for half a day, it was hardly worth a cup of the worst ale.

No sooner had their trading finished than over twenty heavy carts loaded with grey-green bricks rumbled up to the vicinity of the Stone Stallion Inn. With the assistance of five Enlightened Trees, the grey-green bricks were quickly unloaded, precisely stacked together, and this temporary brickyard was nearly filled to the brim.
