Chapter 798: Chapter 532 My Power of Contemplation_3

These Investigative Mages embark on their investigative path for a reason, commonly related to the disappearance of their family members.

This Investigative Mage was no exception; his mentor and his mentor’s mentor had both vanished due to this affair.

He vividly remembered the scene when he met this investigator: pale-faced with heavy bags under his eyes, looking as if he hadn’t had a good night’s sleep in a long time, fragile and sensitive, starting at the slightest rustle of wind or grass.

He was willing to sell the intelligence he held not solely for the generous bounty Gaven had offered, but also because he sought to extract from Gaven information about the Half-Plane of Fear.

In his own words, his investigations had already drawn the attention of the Half-Plane of Fear, and he was not far from disappearing himself. There might be no chance for another meeting, or rather, their next encounter might take place within the Half-Plane of Fear they were investigating.

That Investigative Mage considered Gaven a fellow investigator.

"It seems you’re on the right track with your investigations, you’re right, I was trapped by a teleportation Trap and sent to the Land of Mist," Philancy said, her voice filled with a mix of sorrow and joy. After being trapped for so many years, there was finally a substantial breakthrough, even just some news was good.

"Besides that, I have also gathered a great deal of information about the Ether Plane," Gaven said, pulling out various books as he spoke, "During my spare time, I skimmed through most of it. The most frequently mentioned aspect is the pliability of consciousness on the Ether Plane, so I’m considering something: could we start from this angle?"

"The pliability of soul consciousness you speak of is indeed real. Many Mages construct their Mage Towers in the Ether Plane, using their Soul Consciousness to shape a domain there, which allows their Mage Towers to appear in various locations on the Material Plane.

My Magic House also belongs to this category. Right now, it is forcibly anchored here due to my peculiar circumstances, and I dare not move it carelessly.

However, the part of the Ether Plane where I am now, even though it’s also part of the Ether Plane, has already developed its own Attributes.

If I were to alter it with my Soul Consciousness, it’s very likely that the situation we previously discussed would occur, with my Soul Consciousness becoming completely bound to this place." Philancy possessed profound expertise and research in the Ether Plane.

"I’m not talking about shaping the Ether Plane with your Soul Consciousness, but with the collective power of the masses," Gaven’s line of thought diverged from Philancy’s.

"The collective power?" A lone wolf like Philancy was clearly struggling to keep up with his train of thought.

"Exactly, the collective power. The strength of one person, no matter how great, is limited, but the strength of countless people united is boundless," Gaven expounded on the power of collective belief, "As for the method of invocation, it’s simple. You’ve seen the Phantoms too. We can use this method to display your plight to the masses, creating a sense of empathy. Then we leverage their opinions to change your situation. Even if it doesn’t free you from your predicament, we can reshape the environment you are in."

The typical Ether Plane manifests in certain forms because of belief.

Its current misty appearance is a result of the learned individuals throughout the Multiverse advocating that it is filled with Mist. Everyone believes this, and thus it has taken on its misty appearance.

What if an attempt were made to change that perception?

Tell the world that the Ether Plane is like the Material Plane, a world full of matter?

What would it look like if everyone believed that?

Of course, this is merely hypothetical. It’s incredibly difficult to change such a perception as the established mindset has already taken shape and the Ether Plane has already assumed its current form. Compared to campaigning, those who can enter the Ether Plane trust more in what they see rather than what they hear.

To effect a comprehensive change would require starting from a world with no prior knowledge of the Ether Plane.

Even Earth, devoid of the Ether Plane, isn’t the best choice, as it has been permeated with knowledge from the Multiverse. There is already a belief that the Ether Plane is made up of Mist, which many people accept without question.

In fact, the subjects Gaven had in mind for this experiment were not Humans but the Goblins of Blood Gorge City.

They were one of the hidden talents of the power of collective belief.

If something went wrong in the course of the experiment, the loss would not be lamented.

"That is indeed an innovative approach, and it’s definitely worth a try. However, it doesn’t necessarily have to be a Phantom; we could start with poems or legendary tales," Philancy said, expressing her reluctance about sharing her soul memories with outsiders.

"That could work too. Once we see some results, we can proceed step by step," Gaven spoke enticingly, "But even if it’s poems and legendary tales, they still need to be closely associated with you, to ensure that the power of belief converges on you. This can’t be achieved by just a name; it must be connected to experiences that are intimately linked to you, especially concerning your imprisonment. Would it be possible for you to share more specifics?"

Philancy inadvertently fell into contemplation, clearly weighing the pros and cons.

To seek help without revealing anything was impossible, yet the widespread dissemination of her story risked attracting attention from the wrong people.

Most of the time, she wouldn’t be in a position to fight back.

Gaven, seemingly guessing what the Legendary Arcanist was worried about, added, "The Half-Plane of Fear is too peculiar. If one becomes too entangled with it, they could become the next to disappear. Therefore, for the initial experiments, I don’t plan to involve Humans, but those Goblins instead.

Even if your story becomes too involved, it won’t reach your enemies in a short time.

Trust me, when the day comes that your enemies do come for you, I’ll be here, ready with a fort or a city to meet them."

If it were a month earlier, had Gaven told her these words, she would have dismissed it as nothing more than bragging.

But now, it was a statement of fact; he definitely had the power to do so.

Determined, Philancy said, "All right, I’ll disclose the truth. Just that my story isn’t particularly gripping, and I’m afraid it won’t resonate with others."
