Chapter 767: Chapter 524 Dwarf Statue City_1

Gaven no longer needed to go through such hassle for the Boon of Elevation, simply disregarding all other requirements and raising their Professional Level or adding a Life Dice in one fell swoop, as long as they were beneath the Transcendent rank.

Elite Grace also had advantages that the Boon of Elevation did not, such as the chance to promote multiple candidates at once in the case of a large-scale war, provided they achieved sufficiently glorious war records and accumulated enough Experience Value on the grace. This was the best proof, as the Pitfall Brigade of over three hundred Gnolls saw an average increase of one and a half levels in their Professional Level.

One was an explosive growth, the other a slow, steady stream.

The third option, Legendary Summon, was strikingly similar to a special proficiency called leadership, an out-and-out dominion ability, capable of attracting more lieges to one’s domain, including those who were Transcendent beings.

For Gaven, who had always been concerned about the number of lieges, the utility of this ability was self-evident.

Had it not been for the use of Special Ability to accumulate Charisma to the Legendary level, there would have been no need to consider it any further, for such abilities that might seem ineffectual were often the most powerful.

Using a time-limited Special Ability to stack it significantly discounted the value of this ability, effectively imposing a time limit on it as well. And with a ten-point gap in Attributes, even Gaven felt a sense of despair. By the time he might have managed to pile them on, it could be an eternity away, by which time he might no longer need this ability.

On the contrary, the Boon of Elevation had no such limits. Using it would take but a few seconds, but its effects were lasting.

The most proper use of this skill was not to elevate an ordinary person from zero to Transcendent, but rather to add the finishing touch for those who were just a step or two away, which saved the most Experience Value and provided the most relative benefit.

This would require careful selection, just like its name suggested, it was a form of grace, so it needed to be full of ceremony when the time came.

Such choices were always more complicated to talk about than to implement.

To an outsider like Shanoba, it looked as though he had simply spaced out for a moment.

She watched wide-eyed as Gaven really transformed into a Flying Dragon just like her and as his Special Ability activated, his body further adjusted in various ways, the aura he exuded was much more powerful than hers.

Far from feeling frustrated or defeated, Shanoba took it in stride, because this was the image of a True Dragon monarch etched in her heart. Thrilled, she let out a low Hou toward Gaven and, hopping excitedly, she reached the balcony and leapt off, soaring into the air the next second.

Gaven, understanding her intent, quickly followed suit, leaping after her. Instinctually flapping his wings non-stop, he still couldn’t prevent his body from falling.

This scenario was very much like a non-swimmer floundering in the water, unable to stop from sinking.

Shanoba immediately circled back to Gaven, shook her head at him to demonstrate, then powerfully fanned her Dragon Wings before lowering her body.

Gaven was quick on the uptake, and rather than flapping frantically, he summoned his strength and fanned his wings twice in succession, steadying his body. Once he calmed down, many things became naturally effortless.

Superstate Transformation was not merely about looking like a Flying Dragon; it even endowed him with Flying Dragon senses. He could clearly feel the flow of the wind in the air, and his new body was highly adapted to this, especially after activating his Transcendant Body. He could even manipulate and harness the wind around him to further boost his speed — that was the secret to how his Transcendant Body doubled his velocity.

From clumsy attempts at flight, to flying side by side with Shanoba, and finally far surpassing her, the entire process took no more than five minutes.

But his duration was up.

After all, this wasn’t an innate bloodline ability; it had a limited duration due to the Special Ability’s time constraints.

If he transformed into a creature, Superstate Transformation lasted 1 minute per level of Special Ability spellcasting; if he turned into an inert object, the duration would switch from minutes to hours. Gaven could now assume the form of a Flying Dragon for eight minutes.

After reverting back to his human form, Gaven did not perform any free movements. Instead, a pair of Red Copper Dragon Wings extended from his back. This was not Superstate Transformation, but rather a resulting transformation of Gaven’s Energy Dragon Wings caused by his new ability, giving them two states: they could be the original Energy Dragon Wings or the now physically present ones, with each state having its own pros and cons.

The Energy Dragon Wings were intangible and made of energy, spectacular to behold but with the drawback that flight speed was constant, unrelated to Gaven’s own strength and constitution, and unable to benefit from external winds.

The physical Dragon Wings’ advantages were not only for flight but also usable as specialized weapons or shields. They could fully utilize the power of the wind for higher speeds, with the downside of being too large and often getting in the way, creating drag.

Gaven just wanted to experiment with his newly-acquired abilities, but he hit Shanoba’s excitement nerve. She immediately returned to her Black Dragoness form and pounced on Gaven, spiraling into the air for a second round of heated battle and a unique aerial dance, unlocking several new positions that could only be achieved with the aid of Dragon Wings.

Whether it was Gaven using his Dragon Wings to carry the two of them high into the sky at great speed or the impact of both pairs of wings striking in unison, they exceeded mere human strength. The more intense it became, the more exhilarated the Black Dragoness seemed, becoming increasingly proactive and even initiating some peculiar positions.
