Chapter 747: Chapter 517: Di Gaomorgan’s Sacrilegious Ritual_2

Once they had annihilated that wave of Trolls,

Gaven led three cavalry units and charged rapidly towards the Wailing Dwarf Kingdom.

His goal was clear, to eradicate them root and branch.

Once their lair in the Troll Kingdom was destroyed, the remaining Trolls, even the Noble Giant Trolls, would be nothing but scattered soldiers, turned into roaming monsters on the Giant Plains. Exterminating them wouldn’t be difficult; the Hobgoblins led by Blood Claw could handle it, without him needing to worry.

The Troll Kingdom was a surprisingly long distance from Blood Canyon, over a hundred and fifty kilometers away.

By the time Gaven and his men arrived, after a rapid march, the sky had already turned pitch black.

Tens of kilometers from the Troll Kingdom, Gaven realized why this kingdom had received its peculiar name, as there stood an angry Wailing Dwarf Statue that could be seen from dozens of kilometers away. One could imagine just how colossal it was.

The last time he encountered such a sight was when he first saw the Dragon Oak Mother Tree.

As they drew closer, the majesty and enormity of the Dwarf Statue were even more palpable. It was peculiar that most of Felen’s grand and enormous stone constructions weren’t the work of the towering Giants who left them behind but were rather crafted by Dwarves standing only around one meter thirty to forty. Especially the grand and monumental Dwarf Statues were their pride and joy. One could only speculate whether they were showcasing their exquisite carving skills or compensating for a hidden Giant-sized dream in their hearts.

However, in comparison to this immense Dwarf Statue before him, all other Dwarf Statues Gaven had seen before looked like mere ants, not even worthy of being called little brothers.

Because this Dwarf Statue before him soared over a thousand meters, carved straight out of the cliff face of a mountain.

And this very Dwarf Statue itself was once the Dwarf Kingdom, now the Troll Kingdom.

However, this grand Dwarf jewel was now tainted, overrun by Trolls who knew only destruction and ruin and had no knowledge of construction or repair, leaving the place in a foul and murky state; that strange stench could be detected even a kilometer away.

When Gaven and his men arrived, the Wailing Dwarf Kingdom was desolate, with hardly any trace of monsters.

The news of the Monster Army’s defeat had already spread, and the monsters’ women and children who had been left behind were the first to pack up and abandon this place, either fleeing into the Troll Mountains or returning to the Giant Plains.

This decision didn’t require the wisdom of scholars but followed purely survival instincts.

Normally, monsters rarely formed kingdoms. The very existence of the Wailing Dwarf Kingdom was due to a powerful Troll army. Once that foundation was gone, the kingdom would also dissipate like smoke on the wind.

Moreover, a kingdom ruled by Trolls likely had nothing worth lingering for. Many monsters that had been enslaved probably slipped away the moment the Troll army left.

Gaven wasn’t interested in investigating the specifics; he had no interest in monster culture. He knew that this would make his task easier.

"Chief of staff, I leave it to you to take command and seal this place off. Any monsters that come out are to be executed on the spot," Gaven delegated the command of the three cavalry units to Veranika.

"Yes sir," Veranika responded.

This was the strategy they had discussed on their way here.

No matter how many guards there were, the three cavalry units were not responsible for storming the castle; that task was left to the seven Nightshadows.

On their journey, they had already witnessed the killing efficiency of the Six-armed Snake Demon Nightshadow; one of them was enough to slaughter a city, and it was no exaggeration to say that about her.

Particularly since the Wailing Dwarf Kingdom was established atop an abandoned Dwarf City, one could tell without asking that it would require tunneling through mountains. In such dark environments, having too many people would actually be a hindrance. Using a small number of Elites for a focused assault was the best strategy.

And indeed, that proved to be the case; Gaven and the other six Shadow Walker Nightshadows were practically just for show. The attack on the Wailing Dwarf Kingdom was essentially a solo performance by the Six-armed Snake Demon Nightshadow. Any passageway she slithered through was left without a single enemy standing, narrow tunnels notwithstanding. She could lower her body like a serpent, slithering along, and her unfurled blades still harvested lives.

Such places were rare; most of the caves here were shallow and seemed to be entirely built within the body of the Wailing Dwarf Statue. Not only the Six-armed Snake Demon but even the towering Shadow Walker Nightshadows, standing up to five meters tall, could move through here unobstructed.

Looking at the signs around, it was clear that the caves hadn’t been expanded by Trolls after the fact but were originally built this way by the Dwarves. It was impossible not to wonder whether the original Dwarf inhabitants were either enslaved by Giants, building a dwelling for them, or if due to the influence of this land, they exhibited a bizarre giantism similar to the monsters.

When they passed a corridor adorned with murals, this was confirmed.

The Dwarves that lived here didn’t just become larger; they possessed a Special Ability similar to the Enlarge spell that allowed them to grow not just double but triple their size, like gods descending from the heavens, big enough to stand shoulder to shoulder with many Giants.

The massive construction was made to accommodate their enlarged forms.
