Chapter 727: Chapter 511: Blood Gorge_3

The Monster Army tried to engulf them on a large scale, they would use their speed advantage to escape far away.

If they attempted to split their forces to attack them, they would lure them into the wilderness, ambush and consume them. On the periphery, a detachment of Gnoll Ferocity Mink Cavalry waited to assist them. They were all of Dragon Veins, Dragon Blood, and even Dragonized Gnolls, endowed with Spell-Like Abilities and capable of making traps. Although they did not specialize in trap-making as the Gnoll Trap Maker of the Pitfall Brigade did, they were more than sufficient for small-scale localized warfare.

If those Hobgoblin Wolf Cavalry were not dealt with, they would periodically make aggressive moves or consume any that fell behind or strayed too far apart.

In summary, they took hit-and-run tactics to the extreme, infuriating the Noble Giant Trolls to the point of constant cursing without being able to do anything about it, as they had no Elite Cavalry to use.

Another Cavalry, the Nort Guard Legion, did not engage in combat but retreated south along the migration route, setting up camp near Blood Gorge.

The remaining auxiliary vehicle brigades, the Blood Claw Infantry Brigade, and the Blood Claw Guard Brigade, retreated back into Blood Gorge like a tide.

Blood Gorge.

This was the local monsters’ name for the place, derived from the rocks that were as red as blood in the area.

This was the chosen location for the migrating army to build their city and also the place where the final battle with the Monster Army of the Wailing Dwarf Kingdom would take place.

It was located at the junction between the remnants of the Snowflake Mountain Range and the Xiermingst Forest. This was an intersection of three terrains: to the north lay the Giant Plains, the direction of the migration route from the southwest, with Amu, Thacel, and Karinshan in order; and the southeast led to Vihong Road, toward the Vihong Sea.

From its name, it’s clear that Blood Gorge is a small valley wedged between two mountains, set into the Snowflake Mountains. This used to be the lair of an Orc Tribe of nearly a thousand members.

In the past, it was the Orc Tribe that bore the name of this place who would raid others, becoming the nightmare of others’ dreams.

This time, they became the ones being slaughtered, their desperate screams no different from those of their past victims.

In front of the migrating army, they were powerless, simply blockaded by the building-shaped wagons at the entrance, then obliterated with a barrage of arrows, steadily advancing until the fight was over in a matter of hours, with ninety percent of Blood Gorge’s Orcs slain on the spot.

Everything has two sides.

Such a valley backed by mountains could either be a stronghold that is easy to defend and hard to attack or a dead end with no escape.

In the end, it all came down to the strength of both sides and the extent to which they could utilize the terrain.

"It was well worth the trip, well worth the trip. So, this is how tactics can be used. Truly worthy of the Chosen of Lady Strategy. If those Trolls can’t come up with something unexpected, this will be their grave."

Praise was heard from a cloud above the top of Blood Gorge.

This huge cloud not only stayed in place but also bore two men and a dragon—this was a cloud solidified by a spell, and while it appeared fluffy, it was no different from the ground.

The White Dragon lay prone on the ground as if napping, while the two men sat opposite each other, drinking. The disparity in their drinking vessels was stark; one used a regular cup, while for the other, in comparison, the cup was like a barrel.

Because the drinker had also grown nearly twice in size, he was a Frost Giant who towered over four and a half meters tall.

The combination made it obvious even without asking.

It was none other than Ruitawen City’s City Lord Raymond and the Frost Giant White Dragon Knight.

This Frost Giant had pale blue skin and brown hair. Apart from the size difference, there were not many other differences from humans. His temples and beard showed signs of graying, indicating his considerable age, at least in terms of centuries.

Giants, too, belong to the Everlasting Kind, and although their lifespans cannot compare with those of Giant Dragons, they far exceed that of Elves.

"Indeed, it’s quite enlightening; cavalry can indeed be utilized in such a manner. The value of these three cavalry units wandering outside is far greater than pulling back into the gorge for defense," the Frost Giant said and behaved not like a subordinate of Raymond’s but more like a friend, an ally.

From what was revealed in their conversation, it was clear they hadn’t just arrived; rather, they had been secretly watching from the skies for some time.

The news of the migrating army intending to build a city here had startled not only the Trolls of the Wailing Dwarf Kingdom but Raymond as well.

Gaven hadn’t previously mentioned this to him.

This matter was closely related to their interests in Ruitawen, and Raymond had to set aside all other concerns to come and investigate, regardless of how busy they were.

"Yes, with these three cavalry units by their side, those Trolls simply cannot afford to attack full force. Once they suffer a setback in their offensive, these cavalry units could follow and finish them off, further magnifying their victory. Very few might survive to escape back, and by then, their lairs might be taken too," Raymond remarked, and then pointed down, "His little Gnolls are also extraordinary, each possessing Spell-Like Abilities. The ratio of those who have opened their Professional Levels is too high, which gives him a vast amount of low-level spells to command. Coupled with a multitude of manpower and material resources, the result is beyond belief."

Even as a Quasi-Legendary Mage, Raymond was shocked by the construction speed at Blood Gorge.

In less than half a day, not only had they slaughtered the Orcs of Blood Gorge, but they had even erased all traces of their existence.

All shabby buildings were demolished.

Small mounds and boulder pieces that got in the way, were either softened with the Soft Stone Technique and then pushed aside for reuse, or they were flattened by Quake Bombs.

A group of Pikespirit Druids emerged from invisibility, and with a series of spells akin to Plant Withering, all the weeds, vines, and shrubs withered away, turning to dust.

The large iron pillars they used to pave the way were also dragged in. With the Giant Elephant Treants pulling, they rumbled across the land, leveling and compacting the ground.

In a succession of blasts, the only slope from the perimeter that led up to Blood Gorge was transformed into a cliff over twenty meters high.

A large amount of refined blood rock was dragged by the Treants and Enlightened Trees to the mouth of the gorge, making the rough five-hundred-meter-wide entrance to Blood Gorge even more rugged and difficult to navigate.

A series of indications showed that this was not merely a strategy to lure the Trolls to send in their troops for an attack, but a sincere desire to construct a fortress here, a whole new city.
