Chapter 636: Chapter 480 Not Getting Through_2

Gos didn’t waste words and directly used his Dragon Vein Ability on himself, his body visibly enlarging at a velocity detectable by the naked eye. In the blink of an eye, he had transformed into a massive Gnoll over two meters tall.

An ability of the Dragon Veins that was relatively unimpressive, after all, Gnolls are small creatures, and even after enlarging, they are only considered medium-sized—it was not as useful as the Shrinking Spell which could further enhance their own advantages.

But to intimidate these inexperienced and dirt-poor Gnolls, it was extremely effective.

All of the Gnolls couldn’t help but breathe rapidly, their eyes lighting up.

This was the power of the Giant Dragon, the strength from their Gnoll bloodline—they could feel it.

"We are willing to follow the Lord," those Gnolls said one after another.

With a mix of intimidation and temptation, he directly made these Gnolls submit, eagerly following behind Gos.

"Come, take me to the nearest Gnoll den. We must bring more of our kin to meet Lord," Gos commanded, waving his hand with an air of grandeur.

The Gnolls trailing behind Gos’s rear were initially timid, preparing to turn around and run to their own dens at the slightest hint of trouble.

But they soon realized the benefits of having a Red Dragon above their heads. The Hunters that used to consider them as mere snacks all tucked their tails and fled.

Especially as their numbers grew like a rolling snowball, incessantly increasing, they couldn’t help but puff up their meager chests with pride.

Using strength in numbers to bolster courage was not unique to Goblins; most small creature races behaved similarly, and Gnolls were no exception.

By the time they arrived at their destination in a mighty procession, dusk was just beginning to set in. Over the abandoned quarry, several cauldrons had been set up, bubbling and steaming away.

To deal with these monster races, Gaven still relied on the tried-and-true old strategy of carrot and stick.

Now that the stick had done its job, it was time to offer a sweet reward. A hearty meal, to these creatures who fluctuated between starvation and satiation, was the ultimate temptation.

When Gaven saw the group of Gnolls that Gos brought, he too was taken aback.

Though they were not frightfully emaciated, few had any meat on their bones. The number, however, caused Gaven to frown—barely over a hundred in total.

This was the first day’s harvest with a Giant Dragon’s full cooperation. As time went on, the daily yield would only diminish. In less than ten days, it would be completely scoured clean. Considering today’s count, it was uncertain whether they could even reach a thousand by then.

Before Gaven could speak, Gnoll Gos fell to his knees with a thump in front of Gaven, wailing, "Please punish me, Lord. I have disgraced you. After a busy day, I’ve only managed to gather a den’s worth of Gnolls. If this were in the Rocklands, I could casually howl from a hilltop and gather more than this number..."

"Get up. Who taught you this act?" Gaven kicked him away, laughing and scolding, "You know that was in the Rocklands. Although the terrain here is somewhat similar, it is completely surrounded by human territories which are constantly expanding into it. Just look at their condition, you can see how squeezed their living space has become. It’s already good enough that they haven’t gone extinct. A mosquito may be small, but it’s still flesh. Gather what you can—having a thousand is enough for the mining operation to function."

Gos quickly rolled up to his feet and loudly promised, "Yes, Lord, I will work twice as hard tomorrow."

"As for these Gnolls, I leave them in your charge to reorganize. Do you know how?" Gaven asked in return.

"I do," Gos replied confidently, "First, classify them according to their professions and divide the labor based on abilities. Separate them into the Cook Team, Mining Team, Guard Team, and Foraging Team."

This was simply mimicking the occupational division present in Dragon Oak Territory, though it reflected an earlier template.

Gos’s understanding only went as far as this level. Anything more specialized was beyond his involvement, but it was perfectly adequate for the current situation.

It was also the reason Gaven had transferred him here. There was no need for someone overly specialized—a complete waste. Gos, with his mediocre skills, was just right.

"No need for Foraging and Guard Teams. Just divide them into Cook and Mining Teams, and leave the safety to Roderick. I will send food directly," Gaven immediately dismissed two of the teams.

The efficiency of Gnolls in foraging could not compare to human farming.

Not to mention the large granary of the Golden Prairie nearby, Anfield Village’s own production was sufficient to support thousands of Gnolls.

And as for the Guard Team, with their puny arms and legs, what could they possibly do? They wouldn’t even suffice as a gap-filler for a Beast’s teeth.

"Understood. Our task is to mine the quarry with all our might," Gos, not without his quick wits, replied.

"Before that, you must locate all the entrances to this mining quarry and seal them, leaving only one open. Collapse all the others and block them off. I want to see just how long they can hide," Gaven said with a sneer as he looked at the dark mining caves deep within the quarry.

The quarry was not entirely open-air, being half-exposed and half-burrowed into the mountain.

After Gaven arrived, he had not encountered the deformed creatures described by Mother Gao Ser.

But he could be one hundred percent certain that there were indeed creatures living here.

It wasn’t just the sensation of being watched from within the caves, but also the accumulation of animal carcasses and signs of habitation around the quarry.

These signs of habitation were not of wild beasts, but of intelligent creatures.
